Well, the car has been with him longer then I have. LOL
He spends his money on me...all I have to do is ask and I shall receive. Anyway, I think I have him almost talked into a weekend at the beach and a day trip to Emerald Pointe in NC. Funny what flashing your baby blues among other things can do to your spouse.

Holiday dinners?...I cook/bake every year and by January my hips show it and it takes me until Spring to get them back right again. We always have at least one relative(usually male) who shows their a$$ after having to much of the party punch but last year it was an Aunt of mine and she was heading down to the Lake and jumping off the dock in December in Virginia! Bad thing was, Uncle Bruce was going to let her do it and before I knew it everyone was outside watching to see if this crazy woman was actually going to go for it. Thankfully my Uncle talked her out of it and the next day she was beside herself with shame. Wonder why everyone wants to come back to my house again every year!

Come on...I know someone else must have a funny Holiday story. I have more then I care to admit.

Innocent One, I begin to think your halo needs polishing, oh? =) You can count on us for entertainment even if you can't get the holiday or vacation you really want... we can't offer as much, but we will try our hardest to give you an adequate babble paradise =).

I also want to congratulate Bonami for breaching Babbling Looney status. I wanted to make a post to rate this rite of passage but the BBS is too well known as the British Broadcasting System =). *TEASES MERCISLESSLY!!!*

Happy babbling and merry July!

What are you tryin to say G.v.P.? That I am not as Innocent as my username may appear?

I was given this nickname a few years ago by some friends that I played Ultima with. They made up horrible stories about me and of course I was Innocent on all accounts! Thus the name was born.

Hey my Holidays are great and if I didnt have at least one relative act nuts I would start to wonder whats wrong.
And if I keep up this babbling I will make it to Babbling Looney Status but I think Bonami's should read "Babbling Cow Tipping Looney".
And please, always remember...I am Innocent and lead a sheltered life, I have not an evil bone in my body nor a corrupt(sp) thought in my mind!

A funny hoilday story.......hmmmmm.

We had a halloween party last year and everyone that got too hammered stayed over at our house. When I finally layed down
my bed started doing that spinning thing. So I decided to go down stairs and sleep in the basement.

The next morning I was fixing breakfast for everyone. My sister-in-law came into the kitchen and started talking about the hot flashes she
had the night before (menopause). She said she finally wound up sleeping with her brother Tony for a little while because it was the only
cool spot in the house that she could find. We all looked at her and told her that Tony did not stay with us.

"Really, then who was down in the basement ?"

Our eyes met across the room when we both realized what she had done. After a long silence we all busted out laughing.

So technically I guess you can say I slept with my sister-in-law, the wife is ok with it, and the other sister-in-law is jealous because I won't
sleep with her.

Hey GVP, you forgot the french woman:

I'd like to thank the academy and all of you little people who I babbled over to reach this stage.

Only good family story, and I wasn't there for it!
My family got together for a fairly formal Thanksgiving dinner in my grandfather's home. Grandmother had died a couple years before and Granddad had a new girlfriend. She however was dying of cancer so it was sort of a somber time. Because of her health, Bea (granddad's gf) was unable to prepare the meal, so my mom did most of it. Not knowing where everything was, she asked for a dish to put the rolls in. Granddad looked around a bit and handed her a very pretty large bowl.

Everyone was seated and Thanks was given and then the dishes were passed. My mom took a roll and offered the bowl to Bea. Bea blanched and politely declined. Assuming she wasn't feeling well, my mom said nothing and dinner went smoothly.

After the table had been cleared, my dad came up to my mom and congratulated her on her ability to keep cool under the circumstances. My mom had no idea what he was talking about and Dad explained. The bowl that she had been given to serve the rolls, was the same one that had been holding Grandmother's ashes for a few years before they were spread!

Yikes... lol... your graphic stories... well I would probably flip out if i was told that and the food would go everywhere.

How is that a good family story? Seems a bit somber indeed. I don't know about you guys. Innocent One is getting very kinky and Bonami, well your stories are very dark. What am I going to do with you two? :).

Since the 9 volt which powers Chesapeake died, the babble thread shall feel my wrath.

Today's axiom is: Friends help you move, real friends help you move dead bodies and friends whom you donate a kidney for if needed help you move in July heat.

I got up late, babble with Ms. Xotche about japanese armor, learned some scary truths about her involving Mortal Kombat costumes, promoted her 2 full levels to a Level 6 Geek(which is 1 level short a tattoo in Klingon on her breast, 2 levels short owning every William Shatner album and 4 levels short of being a kernel programmer), then helped 2 good friends move... during the day... in July... when there are earnest, enterprising gentlemen who would do the same job quite diligently for a rather meager sum of money... It was 102 degrees... not factoring in heat index...

After sweating profusely and swearing never to answer my cellphone again if their dreaded CallerID ever showed it's face, we had a nice late lunch of homemade fried chicken with potato salad, baked beans and apple pie. The food was prepared by the friend's mother(actually they are a couple, it was "her" mom who made the food). The cook in question is from Ohio originally. Baked fruit pies are moreso signature fare in that region that the one in which we were presently(Texas). Needless to say, it was damn good apple pie, perhaps in my top 5 apple pie life experiences. Merit that accompanying the fact that it wasnt even served with ice cream. Yes, it was damn good apple pie. As a sidenote, the fried chicken was also remarkable, except that it had sesame seeds on it... which excludes it from Texas fare based more on principle than flavor, but excluded nonetheless. After a few beers and watching the rest of the Astros game, which they won, it was time to head home for a shower and a nap. The intersting highlight of the Astros game was a broken bat which, when it landed, stuck into the dirt by the sharp, fractured end - that could have been a person...

Minor factoid for the day - only one player has ever been killed at a professional, major league baseball game. I believe it was the 1930's, but some outfielder ran full speed into a wall while his eye was on the ball. Glad they have warning tracks now. I would hate for my last concious sight on this world to be staring at a baseball...

On that note, now that I think about it, I think I would like my last sight to be a sunrise over the ocean(loved ones automatically opted, of course).

*sigh*

Chesapeake is still down, time for more babbling

I went to McDonald's the other day for the first time in literally years. My total was $7.77...

At work last week, a strange man about 5'5 with a huge bushy beard and greying hair got on the elevator at the 4th floor. It was just the two of us. He looked at me and said "Almost fell on the world this weekend".

I stared blankly at him for a second before he continued, "But I got me a goooood spot", and with this he began slowly rubbing his palms together.

I smiled and whipped out my cellphone like someone had just sent me an IM and starting punching buttons to look preoccupied. He got off on the 6th floor.

Cheapeake STILL down, continued babbling:

I once had the distinct honor of meeting the UN Ambassador from Ghana.

He was a somewhat shorter man, about 5'4 and very stocky. As with policiticans almost anywhere, he was very extroverted and friendly, but he also had a knack for knowing when to quit piling on the effusive greetings and cordial overtures to actually shut up just long enough to listen to the perhaps 5 seconds of "important stuff" someone had to say. That in itself is a rare skill among humans and he possessed it. Perhaps that gift had done him well, allowing him to fly first class around the globe on Ghana state business.

People from Ghana are very proud of their heritage(not to say most people arent, but people from Ghana especially so). They love to remark on the ancient kingdom which extended to the Atlas mountains, how Ghana has been rich in gold, etc.

Although Ive never been, I think Ghana might be one of the nicer countries to visit in that part of Africa(as opposed to Ivory Coast where there are often killings and rampant banditry, even though it is next to Ghana).

If these login servers dont get fixed soon you are going to have a lot of fun here :)

Not sure if any place in Africa is worth visiting, and I am really sick of all this Live 8 One bull crap. The AIM ads are terrible and come up and make it so you lose "focus" on the chat window, so I started to use Trillian again today.

Are you saying they were homosexual?

After eating some snickers I began to compare them to McDonald's food and then I thought about a person I know that used to date a friend of mine and he wrote something about Mickey D's and I just hate him.

I've been trying to clean up the SHE boards on stratics because well we havent really used them in like forever, but i cant figure out how to delete threads.

Alright.

Anything and everything. I was thinking, everything is everything but anything is any one thing that is part of everything, so they are in fact both the same but different due to specification? So is Anything Else a single instance of a multiple occurence, of everything? And everything is anything else? I've been drifting around IMDB.

I heard the owner of Home Depot is going to build an aquarium in Atlanta, and that he has secured two whale shark pups. I was a bit shocked, to say the least. To my knowledge, scientists do not even know the mating rituals of whale sharks, nor have they any evidence of reproduction other than assumption based on similar sharks. Shark Week begins in ten days (7/17/05), I doubt they will explain things, but who knows.

I'm really not suppose to be here, but I need to fuel the babble fire.

Whale sharks are the largest fish in the world, the largest shark in the world as well. They average around 42 feet but range from 40-60 feet. The whale shark isn't a hybrid like a liger or a whalphin, it is just called a whale shark because it resembles a whale and a shark (or in other words, it is natural -- it isn't a forced conditional species hybrid). Like the basking shark, the whale shark eats small microplankton and such, stuff that whales eat as well. Odds of keeping a whale shark in captivity? Very slim. It will be interesting to see if the news is valid or not and how they will deal with the whale shark pups.

I end up hitting imdb after watching a film at the theater, and I watched War of the Worlds last weekend and, I really disliked it so I needed to get off some steam there. Bonami would love the debates I have caused over there on the Passion of the Christ boards :p

But to keep things civil, and, what is this about the tinker forum? NoOoOO!! Actually, I'm like 85 tinker right now. Plan is to GM before August 30th, but who knows. I moved my fishing over to my tamer and I am working on my crafter.

I just know some about sharks, for the most part... I have read countless books on them, watch Shark Week every year it has been on... I love going to the Baltimore Aquarium to see the sharks they have there, but not sure if I have enough courage to dive. Sharks are fascinating to me because of the fear they produce, and also because of their longevity as a species (records indicate existence before dinosaurs I believe). You can learn from this as well -- and that is why it is important to be some what of a conversationalist, because we need other creatures to discover the best way for our own survival, because, **** sapiens sapiens are much more on the frail side in comparison to some other species of animals, as well as fish and birds.

The gaint squid theroies have always fascinated me. To think of all the living things that havent been decoveried. They say we have catfish the size of a truck living at the bottom of Smith Mountain Lake. Our part of the lake is around 100 feet deep and it always creeps me out a little when I am swimming. Guess I have watched to many movies. Little fish will come by and give ya a little nip on the leg and I act like the monster from the black lagoon is coming up from the deep to eat me. I am sticking to the pool now...its better for my heart.

As for discovering the best way for our own survival in the future...somebody better think of/do something quick because we are a very distructive species.
Not to change the subject, but ok I am changing the subject. Just curious how much the limit ($$) on the price of gas would be for you (anyone who read this) before you would find other ways to get around and how would you get around?
I always said $3 would be my limit but I said that about Cigs too.

LMAO! I don't swim in anything but pools now. But oh when I was a kid, if there was water, no one could keep me out of it!

IMO we need to go to renewable resources. Solar, wind etc.

I know it makes me sound like a kook but I am preparing for the apocalype by studying up on the old ways of healing, cooking etc. I always tell my husband, "when the apocalypse comes ..." and finish it by telling him how he'll be eating ferns or something (provided we make it through the first wave). When it comes, I will leave the house with my loved ones and my five main books ...

If it doesn't come, I figure it never hurts to have alternatives to OTC meds. My little herb garden I am growing has brought me tremendous satisfaction. And, I've made new acquaintances all over as I learn more and get a network of people to trade with. So, that is a plus too!

I used to smoke and $4 was my limit. We were paying $3.50 before we quit but when I came to see my parents the cigs were over $4 and I just didn't buy them. Now I heard, and this is just what I heard, that the Bilderbergers think they can get up to $150 a barrel of oil. I don't know what that translates into for gas but I think anything over $4 will be the limit for a lot of people ... it's too close to $5 for comfort. Of course I think it's all one big conspiracy to make us easier to manage but ...

Well ... I'll stop babbling even though this IS the thread for it LMAO!!!

Speaking of old ways to heal and cook etc. have you heard of or read a series of books called Foxfire? I have all 10 volumes. Its a really great set of books mostly about how to live off the land and such. They are not new books and have been in print for many many years. I agree with the whole solar/wind thing too. My father has used solar for many years.
As for an apocalypse...I suppose its very possible.

I kept setting the alarm off cause I was pushing the button to often...nurse would have to come in and turn the alarm off and scold me.
I was in pain damn it..I swear I was!!

They gave me laughing gas when I was in labor (crazy Nova Scotians didn't seem to believe in epidurals) and that stuff was so much fun. When the nurse left the room, my hubby swiped my mask and took several lungfulls of it. I don't think he wanted to give it back either but I threatened to scream real loud if he didn't. He kept eyeing the tank in the corner trying to decide if he could get that out to the car without anyone noticing.

Isnt it wonderful that you can take just about anything and fry it and it makes it better.

Some examples:
mushrooms alone are ok, go well on pizza or pan-seared with chicken and pasta, etc., but you FRY it and all of a sudden, daaaaamn those are good! Another somewhat more unpopular vegetable - zucchini. Ugh, cant really stomach it raw or in most dishes, even when steamed it's either bland or gross. You subject it to the magic of the deep fryer and it suddenly becomes palatable.

Twinkies are hard to argue as being hated by anyone on this planet. Some love them, some simply think theyre ok. You fry one of these babies and it's like a piece of heaven. Don't forget the chocolate sauce.

Taro root is a popular dish in the Pacific Rim area. Kinda bland, even toothpaste-tasting to some, but a quick trip to the fryer and youve got a winner!

Squid... who doesnt like the texture of rubbery tentacles n hoods? Behold! The fryer doth giveth calamari, which cant be beat with a good marinara sauce on the side. People eat baskets and baskets of these marine predators!

ok, time to quit lollygagging

Haha, after nearly 9 years of marriage, I finally deep fried some food a few weeks ago. I made batter dipped onion rings and artichoke hearts and my husband loved them. He declared that all food in our house should be deep fried thereafter.

I'm not sure why you would fry a Twinkie let alone buy one. I've never been able to stomach Hostess stuff. Fried ice cream though... now that's good. I've also wondered about the fried Snickers bars.

Isn't that the truth? Although I have found I have to completely stay off all smokeables. If I think about smoking the herbs, I think about cigarettes. I am so mad I started smoking so many years ago because getting off them was a major pain.

No I haven't heard about that Foxfire series (although I do use Firefox for my browser ... does that sort of count? LOL) I am going to look it up though because it sounds like something I need ... even though 10 volumes sounds like more than I will be able to carry when the apocalypse comes. Do they come in paperback? Oh they do. I just looked them up. From the Appalachians that is interesting ... hey there is 11 of them! I could do that. I replace all the covers of my important books with heavy duty canvas and they have like a flap to close them and keep them dry.

I don't know how I'll be because just today our mousetrap caught a HUGE garden snake. HUGE. I totally freaked out and made my husband take him out to the woods (he was unharmed ... the snake was). LOL ... as my hubby is holding him by the tail and walking him to the woods, I am screaming out the window "Talk to him like the crazy croc guy does and make sure he is okay and not stressed out!!!!" My husband just totally ignored me ... I don't know how I would be with hog dressing ... but moonshining ... that would be good to know :)

Is there really an etiquette to driving a shopping cart?

For example did it just make sence for us to move inside the store isles in two lanes? No one held up a sign or said to do so.

Isn't it funny that we actually 'pull over' to pick up an item or comtemplate over items on the shelves, then afterwards pull out into the traffic? We even get annoyed when someone just stops in the middle of the isle, leaves their basket in the way and goes for an item or just stands there to compare shop.

And why are so many folks afraid to just take the cart by the handle and move it over or simply speak out and say 'excuse me'. (I have been shopping in foreign countries they just shove ya out of the way without a word or you get an elbow)

If you watch the behavior behind some shoppers it is very much the same as in driving on the road. They bunch up, they speed, they make unexpected turns, have disabled carts and we drive irresponsibly with kids even though there are safety devices. Oh and we even have 'little student drivers" shopping carts in some stores!

My favorite (probably because it reflects how I shop also) the daydreamer shopper, busy working on their mental lists of what to purchase and how its going to be fixed, ect. ect. and just waltz's by the others in their conformity of two lanes of traffic, weaves in and out or looks down a crowded isle and leaves cart at the end cap (a true faux pau in shopping) then gets items and returns to cart, smiles whimsically, perhaps even hum a tune and make time to say something to a crying child.

This type of behavior completely collides with the astute shopper. You know the person, has their coupons and shopping list printed out deterimed to get through the crowd in record time. Probably never looks up at the displays or sales ads or takes a taste sample, just keeps chuggin along with cart.

Funny thing to me is no matter how we drive or behave, we all end up finishing about the same time and meet at the register lanes.

All I know is I wanna b-slap ppl who sit in the MIDDLE of the aisle blankly staring at something when there's ppl trying to get past. Or the parents who do not keep their kids on a leash(literally or figuratively) and I come down the aisle and the kid just wanders in front of my cart oblivious.

I love my grocery store. It got voted Coolest Grocery Store in Houston last year. It's a melting pot of both ethnic and socio-economic types. BMW's next to 20 year old Cutlasses with fuzzy dice and a La Raza bumpersticker. Lawyers on their cellphones and a mom who cant speak English with an entourage of 3 kids. Even the in-store music is a mix of 80's pop and Tejano. They also have an amazing beer selection for a grocery store, easily outdoing most average liquor stores.

I have a new puppy!

A few weeks ago my dog Kelly, who would have turned 14 in August, died after a stroke and a living a long time as a diabetic and blind. The whole family was heartbroken and I think I will always remember the morning gathered around her body to put flowers on her and say goodbye. However, knowing she was dying, we had begun to talk about the sort of dog we would like to have next. A friend forwarded an email advertising a puppy for sale to me and today Ralph joined our family.

Ralph is 6 months old and wieghed in at 2lbs at his last vet visit. He's a Maltese Shih Tzu mix. We all were smiling like idiots as we drove back home with our new baby. We discussed whether we should change his name... til he er.. ralphed on me. (Well, it was a very winding road)

Puppy breath now why is that ?? Is it some defense mechanism, for all the young canines or what ?? One has to ponder the concept of this as one looks skyward to our creator and says um hey God what is up with this puppy breath you seem to have given all puppies ?? Is there some logical reasoning for this global universal puppy breath thing, or is it just your odd sense of humor ! ? lol

It goes away, as they mature unless they just ate rotten junk out of garbage cans, then most dog breath isnt that horrid, but puppy breath eww sheesh gag us with a spoon poor liddle widdle things not their fault, ..now why is it the cutest most innocent of all the canine species has the worst breath on the planet, nearly, till they grow up some ?

It is all like they on stale mommas milk that shoulda been tossed out a year ago and they way past weaning and puppy breath still groddy till they about hit 2yrs of age depends on doggie type ! HAHA

think carts (some call them buggys) need turn signals and the back up beepers on them etc.

Actually I have had people run into me with no shopping carts, usually in some small confine aisle in some store and I felt that they should have blinkers and beepers on their rear ends.

I mean I do not begrudge anyone their sizes, we were not all made to look like twiggy anyhow. BUT lordy some do need some kinda reality check..pardon me mam you just crushed my entire right side with your wide load there, mayhaps a beeper when ye are backin up on ye butt would warn the rest of us since you didnt bother to LOOK before ya backed up..dont care if it is someone in a car, some one 98 pounds or 298 pounds least they can do is LOOK before backing up !!!

Since some do not look, and rush to move backwards not even looking at all, and some wider loads yes they can be more of a danger to others, than some one else's back end backin up. yessssss some people that dont look before they back up their butts, need to have beepers on their butts like the big dump trucks hauling gravel so when they back up without looking, then the rest of us get a beeper warning... or something ! Just glad I am not a 98 pound weakling when a wide load backs up on me I usually survive em, but gasp think of the really dinky skinny butts out there..they'd be crushed !

Beep beep beep !! WIDE LOAD BACKIN UP !

I guess tonite is a pondering of the mysteries of the universe sort of night, pondering why puppies have dog breath, pondering wide loads that shoulda been born with beepers on em to warn us of sudden back ups and turns in store ailes,
I am also pondering the logic of the NOISE outside tonite.

Why do caididids have to make all that racket all twilight long ?? Why does that same male mockingbirdy come to our tree by the bedrooms here, have to SING all night long way after dark ? I mean if he is trying to find a girlfriend she probably is long asleep by that time. If he trying to get attention I am sure some female mocking birds gonna hit him upside his birdy head shouting in mocking bird lingo SHUT UP MAN ! or something..same with these caididids.. WHAT IS that horrible racket song they singing ?? and WHY ? WHO cares to hear em but their own kind anyhow ? course I am sure they not too fond of hearing humans chatter either but least I can make sense of most human speak unlike insect speak.

And why is it every time I get a fabulous vine ripened tomato some darn squirrel gnaws on it before I get to pick it ?? Nobody ever told me squirrels were into tomatoes..I thought they liked nuts and squirrely junk foods like that. Heck these squirrels are even nabbing the apples off our neighbors apple tree natch just about the time the apples ripen to be fit for human consumption, same as the tomatoes the squirrels chewed into em. Now I do not know about yall but I refuse to eat a tomato or apple that has squirrely teeth marks in it ! I mean do squirrels brush their teeth ? doubt it so all we would be getting is germy squirrel bit tomatoes and apples if we ate em after they chewed em up and gnawed on em. And they never finish eating em either..more like gnaw and destroy so no human in their right mind will touch this but never EAT the darn thing ..maybe they hoped to bury it all for winter with their nuts ..tough nuggies its all in the trash now squirrels !!

Makes ye ponder the mysteries of this universe to see such antics ! :)
