nope, you have to set it manually on new profiles, or just copy an existent profile :p

I'm ALMOST caught up! Just have to get Stone up to date, then maybe a new (old) texture package if I can figure out how I want to do it.

About the stone texture pack, I don't know if it worth the time... the style is something like the copper with third dawn colors :D

About new styles here is some ideas:

- Wood/ship style: something about HS in short :D

- Undead style: something with bones/stone/wood mixed... I found this (not too good) example from wow textures:


- Elven style: wood and leafs

- Miner style: a raw stone style (like mountain walls) with some gems by time to time

- Crystal/ice style: everything frozen/crystallized could make a nice effect :p

That's just some quick ideas to inspire you :p

nope, you have to set it manually on new profiles, or just copy an existent profile :p
The easiest way is to copy old profiles over. What you do is make your new character then log out and copy another character file that you want to have a similar play style over. Delete the new one, then rename the copy with the new character name.

You'll find the profiles in the following folders:

My Documents\EA Games\Ultima Online Stygian Abyss\User Data\[account name]\[shard name]\[character name]

I can't get the music to work. I put some mp3's in the music folder inside the game folder and dragged to the hot bar in the game and typed out the full path, but still nothing. Am I forgetting something?

be sure EC playsound is active, then if you put the mp3s into the music folder just enter the file name instead of the full path and trigger the action to start it :)

By the way Pinco, remember that "bug" I reported with the low pet health warning going off at odd times? I now know what the problem was. It was giving the low health warning on summons. I don't know if you could make that an option or not, because I like the fact that I get low health warnings on summons, but I'm thinking it might confuse others like it did me.

The play music feature is working just dandy now! Although I rather hate to follow a complement with a request, is there a way for you to provide a volume setting for that music, separate from the setting for game soundtracks? Or, better, be able to turn off game soundtracks but enable playsound music?

One other thing. What software to you guys prefer to capture video from your screen?

just remove the check from enable music (to disable default music) and playsound will still active :p

Hmm I did that and still can't get it to work. I'll try again maybe I'm forgetting something.

the option to ignore summons already exist :D
Well then it appears that perhaps there is a bug. Because I have enabled that option and I am still receiving the low health warnings on summons.

Hey pinco how can i make uocartographer run with pincos UI, WITHOUT running the client in admin please?

ya thats what ive been doing but if i dont run uosa as admin the map will not track me. i tried with stone enhance as well. if the client is not in admin it will not track me in map. i have my reasons for nto wanting to run admin but i realy realy dont want too.

there is no way then... the client need to write files and without the admin rights can't do that...

tried to download to desktop and unzip the patcher into the game folder and got all sorts of errors:(

access is denied! 12 errors?

so open to ideas here, in simple english please, no computer jargon as i do not understand

the last update UI i ran is 3.9a and cannot now find anything other than the patcher

no idea what .NET Framework is framework 2 or any other thing that is so casually spoken about here, if it is needed how about shortcuts to download or instructions as to where to find them on home computers and CLEAR instructions on how to use, extract, WHERE to put everything etc, just like you are talking to somebody who knows NOTHING about computers

if the program all all its files are into the main game folder (no UserInterface or any other sub-folder), post the complete error logs so I can understand what's going on :p

it wont extract to the game folder from any location as it says it cannot create as access is denied Wundell.dll etc

cannot copy error message, no idea where clipboard is even though it says it can copy the error messages to it

I am having a few issues with the UI patcher.

I think I had things working ok for the exception of one little error when I would press the “Start UO Patcher” or “Start UO Game” and error would appear something about DirectX but I could press Quit and game would launch.

Now that I was in game, I noticed that the default bar where back pack was is missing but then quickly asked me to create it by moving my mouse around. Why did this get deleted and why is it not the same?

I wanted to use Decors Icons so I tried the txpack= parameter and it did work however I did not see the icons as I am used to. So I simply merged files the old fashion way. This gave me the icons I was looking for, however the Bar mentioned above (re-created back pack bar) now was missing all the icons.

I then downloaded the Decors Icon pack modified by Pinco and did an icon folder overwrite and nothing changed. At this point I figured I had messed things up enough and I would start over with a fresh reinstall. I used the handy “Reinstall” button in the Pinco’s UO patcher and it appeared files where copied. Launched game and still Same Decors Icons with missing icons in Pinco’s created back pack bar and missing default back pack bar.

So I moved forward to the next logical step to use the “Uninstall” button on the Pinco’s UI Patcher. I had to repeatedly press the “uninstall” button as it was acting as if it would halt after uninstalling each file or folder. Took about 20 button presses to reach 100%

Still having the UI Patcher open, I pressed “Start UO Game” and an error of “The system cannot find the file specified” popped up and UI Patcher closed. I launched game with original desktop icon and things appeared normal as I would expect the default game to appear. Looking closer in settings I found that Pincos UI was still listed as the custom UI so I closed game and went to the userinterface folder to discover there was still a Pinco UI folder. After looking into folder I notice all folders for Icons. Mods etc. where still there however all files had been deleted out. I deleted Pinco UI folder at this time.

Re-launched Pinco’s UO Patcher and pressed the “Reinstall” button. Loading bars immediately loaded too quickly and it was obviouse nothing loaded. Pressed the “Start UO Patcher” or “Start UO Game” and same error of “The system cannot find the file specified” popped up.

Now I am left without a way to install Pinco’s UI and stuck with default game. Any suggestions?

ok weird, i reinstalled and it all seems to have worked, but i dont have decors icon pack, all yuk and yellow hotbars

is there a way to get the icons back?

this happen because the patcher has been installed into the wrong place...
The UI Patcher must go into the main game folder with all his dll (NO UserInterface or other folders) or it will not works properly at all...

NEW IN-GAME COMMANDS:
 
- I wish to rename into <name>: rename the targetted pet with the new name.
- i wish to create the healthbar: shows the healthbar of the current target.
- i wish to ignore this item: allows to ignore an item when you use the object handle.
 
- i wish to make a screenshot: this command allow you to see a targetted item with a plain background, useful for make good screenshots of it. 
The screenshot command supports the following usage:
 
i wish to make a screenshot: show the item with a white background
i wish to make a screenshot - black: show the item with a black background
i wish to make a screenshot - scale 5: show the item with a white background scaled to 5
i wish to make a screenshot - black scale 5: show the item with a black background scaled to 5
 
NOTE: 
    * It works for dynamic items only and not for mobiles.
    * This tool doesn't really make a screenshot, but just a window with a plain background.
    * After the use of this command press the PRINT button and then edit the image with your graphical tool.
 
 
ADVANCED FUNCTIONS:
- Danger Bar:
 * Turns on when something dangerous happen to your character: Reduced SSI, FC, FCR, forced to walk and low hit points.
 * If the LOW HP warning is turned ON, you can set when to get it: 20%, 30%, 40%, 50% or 60% of your life.
 * There is a toggle for every single effect by using the context menu on it.
 * Works only when your SSI, FC, FCR going under 0, or you are forced to walk or your life is below 20%.
 * A tooltip will show the list of negative effects on you.
 * When you die, will start the "body decay counter":
  + You'll see "Your BONES will last for" when your body turns in bones.
  + The counter start and works for the first body only.
  + If you still dead and the time running off, you'll see the text "Your body is gone!!!"
  + The time shown is in HH:MM:SS
 * Added a skill loss timer:
  + When "Thy spirit hath been weakened!" the timer start.
  + When "Thy spirit hath recovered!" the timer stop.
  + If you die until the timer is running, the timer will restart (no matter who kills you).
  + You can stop the counter through the context menu.
- Object Handle Changes:
 * Added Object Handle Toggle window (Lucis).
 * Added the "Items Only" filter to the object handle toggle window.
 * When you open a corpse (with the object handle), it will be never shown anymore while using the object handle (ctrl + shift)
 * Auto-Ignore the object handle for the NPC who have an healtbar open.
 * Auto-Ignore self on the object handle.
 * A single click on the object handle will set the item/mobile as a current target.
 * Customizable in size and opacity.
- Item Properties Changes:
 * Added resistance color: GRAY (physical), ORANGE (fire), BLUE (cold), GREEN (poison), Purple (energy)
 * Crafted by has a little font.
 * Added commas to every number (weight, prices, etc...)
 * If the object weight will bring you overweight, the weight color will be red.
 * Changed the Lifespan in "Lifespan: HH : MM: SS". ORANGE text = less than 60 seconds left. RED text = less than 30 seconds left.
 * In the fish monger quest crate, you'll be able to see how much points it worth. This will also print the list of required fish, their amount (actual and required) and the points value on journal.
 * You'll be able to see the max weight on pack animals. The weight will be ORANGE if when you ride it, you cannot run; RED if the pet is full.
 * You are now able to recognize the kind of fish you got (deepwater, shore, dungeon or rare).
 * The properties will be highlighted in green if are higher than 70%. The bright is the color, the more is near 100%.
 * Added the notoriety status in the properties of every mobile.

 * Shows bod rewards on bod properties
 * Shows DPS and real swing speed (changed from original).
 * Shows Imbuing informations.
 * Show what you obtain if you burn an item into the soulforge with a little text: GRAY (relic), GREEN (essence), RED (residue)
- Overhead text changes:

 * Damage color: if you get damage you'll see it red, if your pet get damage you'll see it pink, the others are yellow.
 * Added commas to the banker speak (like balance, checks, item numbers and weight)
 * Now you will read the the message "Uh oh! That doesn't look like a fish!" over your head.
 * Now you will read the the message "The tainted life force energy damages you as your body tries to absorb it." over your head.
- Container Changes:
 * Added the Grid Legacy Container mode.
 * Added commas to every weight number inside the container.
 * The last item double-clicked on your backpack, will be highlighted in green.
 * If you open the backpack, it will be auto-reopened when closed automatically (like crossing server line). If you close it manually, it will stay close.
 * Now Replicas, Artifacts and Sets will be colored on list view mode.
 * The treasure maps in list view corpses now have a different name. The name will be: "Treasure Level X" (where X is the level number).
 * Now the corpses item list and grid is sorted by object type in the following order:
  + Gold piles
  + Artifacts
  + Sets
  + Paragon Chests and Treasure Maps
  + Crafting/Imbuing materials
  + Magical reagents
  + Colored items (such as elemental damage weapons)

- Healthbar changes:
 * Added an arrow button to the status window for open the character context menu.
 * Added the "notoriety aura" around the character face into the status bar, showing your notoriety status (aura image by Nalif).
 * Added diablo mana and health bar (graphical remake of the Illandril work).
 * You cannot anymore take your own healtbar.
 * Removed your own healthbar from the party.
 * Added the portrait to the party healthbars.
 * Added the notoriety aura to each party member portrait (avilable only when the healthbar is active).
 * Increased the party healthbar update time.
 * Shows the percentage of health in the target window.
 * You can now create healthbars of items (from the menu bar button).
 * You can now create healthbars on lobster trap (from the menu bar button), that will show you a tiny window with the trap status (is created automatically when "bob").
 * The healthbar of the lobster traps name is BLUE for your trap and RED for the others.
 * Added the life percentege.
 * Added heal/cure button with negative act check.
 * Now the close button is a bit larger and red instead of blue with a tooltip when you go with the mouse over.
 * The close button will be visible only outside of the pet/mobiles bar 
 * Reduced the height 
 * The healthbar border became red if is the current target. 
 * Changed the red lifebar with a better version. 
- Added Mobiles On Screen mod rewritten from the Lucis version. Improvements from original version:
 * Added the "Neutral Animals" filter: allow to ignore the non-aggressive animals.
 * Added the "Summons" filter: allow you to ignore other player's summons.
 * If you open an healthbar it will be removed from the list, if you close it, will be restore into the list.
 * Removed your own pets and summons from the list.
 * Uses normal healthbars instead of its own.
 * You can enable the dockspots by the mobiles bar context menu to split the healthbars based on notoriety: 
                + Yellow Dockspot: invulnerable 
                + Grey Dockspot: attackables/criminals/no notoriety 
                + Blue Dockspot: innocents 
                + Red Dockspot: murders 
                + Green Dockspot: friends/guild 
                + Orange Dockspot: enemies 
 * The dockspots are scalable and snappable and lockable from the context menu: "Lock Dockspots"
 * You can set the maximum amount of healthbars on each dockspot (up to 50).
 * Now if you use the "All Names" macro, you can manually update the mobiles list.
 * Improved performance
- Removed the main menu bar.
- Added the Perfection counter:
 * Shows the percentage of perfection reached at every gain/loss.
 * Auto-reset when a new honorable combat start or when you gain in honor.
 * The context menu allow you to lock the counter or reset it manually.
 * The tooltip will show the current damage increase value (equals to the perfection level) and the bonus luck.
- Skill window changes:
 * Added the buttons: "Lock All Skills" and "All Skills Down" to the skill window (could take up to 6 seconds to execute).
 * Added a context menu to the right click on the button of the skilltracker. Now is able to show the custom tab or every skill > 0 and the remaining points.
 * Added the "Refresh" button to the context menu of the skill tracker. In case the values are not up to date, just use this button for fix them.
 * In the skill window if you enable the "show caps", you will be able to see your total skillcap (based on your account age).
- 2D like enhancements:
 * Allows only 1 label for static item at once.
 * Added 2D style writeable books.
 * Added 2D style runebook (Zym Dragon, Lucis and Gildar version with few improvements).
 * Added 2D style spellbooks.
 * The chat input line is now locked on the bottom of the playing area like 2D client.
 * Added the "You See" message 2D style.
- Hotbar changes:
 * The Word of Death icon has a glowing aura when the current target is at the right percentage.
 * Added the countdown timer for: healing potion, enchanted apple, grapes of wrath (KNOWN BUG: if you reduce the amount of these items on your backpack the timer will start).
 * Added a countdown timer for skills cooldown (works for smoke bombs too).
 * Added the countdown timer for Curse Weapon:
  + The timer starts when you start to cast the spell.
  + If the spell fizzle the timer stops.
  + The timer count the casting time.
 * Added the countdown timer for Consecrate Weapon:
  + The timer starts when you start to cast the spell.
  + The countdown is approximative (there is no way to calculate karma).
  + If the spell fizzle the timer still go (there is no way to detect the fizzle).
 * The hotbar icon of attune weapon now will show the charges remaining to the shield or the cooldown if the effect is over.
 * The hotbar icon of magic reflection now will show the charges remaining to the shield or the cooldown if the effect is over.
 * Added the countdown timer for ethereal voyage.
 * Added the countdown timer for evasion.
 * The honor icon will be red if you are embracing your honor.
 * Changed font into the hotbar key bindings.
 * Changed the hotbars border from gold to gray.
 * Changed the text for special buttons (ex. Num Pad: 4 is now NP4, OEM_102 is now <, Insert is now INS and so on...)
 * Changed the colors for the hotbar key bindings:
  + Direct Button: WHITE
  + Control: RED
  + Alt: GREEN
  + Shift: BLUE
  + Control+Alt: YELLOW

- Atlas changes:
 * Tilt Map: now you can tilt the map for a better visual on treasure maps.
 * Added a compass to the atlas window. Now you'll be able to recognize the north.

 * Now you are able to see player houses/boats on atlas. 
 * Now you are able to create map waypoints on dungeons or area different than "world" and see them correctly.
 * Fixed the map x/y to lat/long converter, now the labels will be created in the right spot. 
 * Now you can choose different icons for each waypoint on your map. 
 * Now you can choose the size of the waypoint icon on your map. If you set the size on half (or less) the icon will be visible only on deep zoom level.
 * Fixed the Atlas map navigation on high zoom. Now you can shift the map without stucking.

 * Added a label to the atlas that shows the player location in real time. 
 * The waypoints created on abyssal infernal's lair and primeval lich's lair will be saved as felucca labels for avoid the client auto-delete.

 * Removed "Plot Course" button and points number from treasure maps.
- Added the book recorder: 
 * This tool record every book that you open into the logs directory of the game. 
 * The books are saved as [<book ID>] <book title>.txt
 * The books keep the same text structure that you can see in game.
- Added Quick Details window (modified Illandril version)
 * The window is movable, snappable, lockable and scalable.
 * Shows tithing, gold, followers, weight and luck
- Changed (on first character login) "Use Default Enhanced Client Settings" to "Use Pinco's UI suggested settings":

too dangerous put an option on that. Somethimes (I don't know why) some window goes far outside the visible area and this system will bring them back...

It's ok anyway. I can do what I want with the current system, it's just a little more challenging that's all.

you could disable the "smart hotbars" and lock the hotbars through the arrow in the stone handle, so you'll have a locked hotbars with the handle that could be usefull to open/close it :p

Just wanted to say again Pinco, the work you've done is freaking awesome!

I hadn't updated in about a month or so, just because I was satisfied with the version I was using. Anyway, I went ahead and installed the latest version UI Patcher. It was extremely easy to install and went off without a single problem. I pasted the Copper Texture pack in over the update and everything looks great.

One question, when I run the patcher again, and it does an update, will I need to re-paste the Copper Texture pack over the update?

Your instructions state that only "Decors" and "Third Dawn" are supported by the UI Patcher. Is "Copper" supported too?

Doesn't matter too much. Copying and paste isn't exactly difficult to do.

The UI Patcher supports the following command lines parameters:

-noplaysound : use this to start the game without EC PlaySound.
-txpack=<name>: use this to set a texture pack as default interface. <name> is the texture pack name


to add a parameter just make a shortcut on the desktop then properties on it.
On destination you'll see:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Ultima Online Stygian Abyss\UI Patcher.exe"

to disable playsound just do:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Ultima Online Stygian Abyss\UI Patcher.exe" -noplaysound

to se the patcher to use a texture pack do this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Ultima Online Stygian Abyss\UI Patcher.exe" -txpack=<name>
(<name> is the texture pack name)

to do both things do:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Ultima Online Stygian Abyss\UI Patcher.exe" -noplaysound -txpack=<name>
(<name> is always the texture pack name)

The available texture pack name are:
ThirdDawn : Third Dawn Pinco
DecorsTexture : Decors Textures
Copper : Copper Pinco Textures


If you set the UI patcher on a texture pack, it will automatically install and keep updated the UI WITH the texture pack installed.

- Fixed a problem with the refresh of the skills tracker at login.
- Fixed a few stability bugs.
- Fixed few bod percentage.

- The crystal portal gump will automatically appears if you double click the crystal porta/corrupted crystal portal instead of the default instructions book.
- Added the orange "GUARDS" button to the status window: 
	* If you are under the protection of the town guards it will appear and allow you to call the guards.
	* The guards status will be saved on logout.

- EC PlaySound 1.4:
	* You can once again open more clients by executing EC PlaySound
	* If you start EC PlaySound and you'll close the patcher (and no other clients are open), the program will be automatically terminated.
	* Added the sound manager (you can reach it by right click on the system try icon):
	 	+ Allows you to add a custom sound to a game message.
	 	+ Works in this manner: click on the text column to add a new item and enter the text; click on the sound column to browse for a sound.
	 	+ After saving you must log-out in order to apply the changes.

UI Patcher 1.2.3:

- Fixed some interface elements in order to supports not-windows systems.
- Added a path check: now you cannot anymore start the patcher from the wrong directory.
Texture packs will be uploaded probably in 1 hour when I'm sure that all 3 are compatible :)

I think I need to talk to Nexus about his setup, and I think I need to check permissions of the directories that the UI is installed to, but I was curious if you had seen that.

It's not a problem that stops me from using the UI, it's just the solution is for me to empty/rename the directory and leave an empty one for the patcher to download and install the UI into, which goes against the whole point of the patcher in the first place. I'll play around with it, and I know somebody who knows a lot more about Crossover and who plays UO to play around with it as well.

The patchTemp directory wasn't letting the patcher write everything it needed to write. I figured it was a permissions problem.

Also, if I don't set all of the sub-dirs of the UserInterface to read/write by everybody, I get the "Directory not empty" message as well and it quits.

If I do set them (patchTemp once it's created by the patcher, and UserInterface) to read/write by everybody, when I run the patcher, it says:
Unable to recognize the current version, reinstalling the UI...
Deleting possible existing files...Done
Loading web files data...Done
Downloading Pinco's UI ver. 4.2 [15.0 MB]

It will download all 15MB or so (according to the progress bar) but I still get the "Directory not empty" and it quits.

Here's where it gets really strange. If I open up a terminal or Finder window and check the contents while it's patching, the patcher is writing to the patchTemp directory, and it appears to be writing the proper files.

I still end up with the "Directory not empty" error, and the files in the patchTemp directory completely disappear (not even in the trash) and somehow, even though the UserInterface directory can be empty before the patching, it installs version 4.1i or 4.1l of the UI.

That's what is really confusing. I've cleared the UserInterface directory a few times when trying the patcher, and somehow version 4.1i of the UI is installed. At first I thought it was just permissions on one or two directories, but the fact that I somehow end up with version 4.1i of the UI is really strange.

Obviously it's still a permissions problem/OS X problem, but the fact that it gives me 4.1i instead of 4.2 is really throwing me off, because I don't think I have 4.1i anywhere on my system.

give full read/write access to the full UO directory, the new sub directory should inherit the rights...

So I moved forward to the next logical step to use the “Uninstall” button on the Pinco’s UI Patcher. I had to repeatedly press the “uninstall” button as it was acting as if it would halt after uninstalling each file or folder. Took about 20 button presses to reach 100%

Still having the UI Patcher open, I pressed “Start UO Game” and an error of “The system cannot find the file specified” popped up and UI Patcher closed. I launched game with original desktop icon and things appeared normal as I would expect the default game to appear. Looking closer in settings I found that Pincos UI was still listed as the custom UI so I closed game and went to the userinterface folder to discover there was still a Pinco UI folder. After looking into folder I notice all folders for Icons. Mods etc. where still there however all files had been deleted out. I deleted Pinco UI folder at this time.

Re-launched Pinco’s UO Patcher and pressed the “Reinstall” button. Loading bars immediately loaded too quickly and it was obviouse nothing loaded. Pressed the “Start UO Patcher” or “Start UO Game” and same error of “The system cannot find the file specified” popped up.

Now I am left without a way to install Pinco’s UI and stuck with default game. Any suggestions?

I installed the UI Patcher into c:\program file x86\Electronic Arts\Ultima Online Enhanced this is root folder for enhanced client. Please take a moment to read from the beginning as I tried to take my time to re-trace the steps I took that created the problem. I had everything working fine until trying to add in decors icons. Now I am pretty sure I can weed out UI Patcher files from UO root folder and re-install to make things work but maybe I mistaken to think that I don't think that is the way you intended for the reinstall/uninstall functionality to work.

I did, and your UI is installed, but when I load up UO and hit ESC within UO, the version number is still 4.1i.

If I look at the readme in UserInterface/Pinco's UI, it says 4.1e.

I don't know why it's pulling old versions, because I don't think I ever installed the 4.1 series.

It's completely installing (and properly), it's just giving me old versions. Could the new patcher be somehow pulling old patch files because it doesn't like my setup?

I installed the UI Patcher into c:\program file x86\Electronic Arts\Ultima Online Enhanced this is root folder for enhanced client. Please take a moment to read from the beginning as I tried to take my time to re-trace the steps I took that created the problem. I had everything working fine until trying to add in decors icons. Now I am pretty sure I can weed out UI Patcher files from UO root folder and re-install to make things work but maybe I mistaken to think that I don't think that is the way you intended for the reinstall/uninstall functionality to work.
1) the txpack works only with the exact name on the list, so you must enter:
-txpack=DecorsTexture

2) Try with the new patcher

3) Unistall just remove the pinco's ui files and folder not the entire game.

4) about this:
Still having the UI Patcher open, I pressed “Start UO Game” and an error of “The system cannot find the file specified” popped up and UI Patcher closed. I launched game with original desktop icon and things appeared normal as I would expect the default game to appear. Looking closer in settings I found that Pincos UI was still listed as the custom UI so I closed game and went to the userinterface folder to discover there was still a Pinco UI folder. After looking into folder I notice all folders for Icons. Mods etc. where still there however all files had been deleted out. I deleted Pinco UI folder at this time.
the error come only when the patcher is in the wrong place...
However the new patcher can help you to know if is in the wrong place :p

A small bug. The item properties info on relics has started to give false readings. With a 120 gargoyle at queens forge, many reported relic unravel into non - relic residue or essense. The new item information no longer seems to show item intensity (ie over 400) so its difficult to predict unravelling strength. Can you either see why the false reporting is occuring, or reinstate the item intensity info?
