I'm sad to see the changes in ownership. I believe you and your team did great improvements to "our" forums, special the guild/community forums are great for guilds, who can't afford their own forum and easy to use as you do not need your guildmembers to make a new login. There are several other good thing added to the page, we just need a lot more UO players

It will be bought by someone in India. They will in turn see the monthly flow of money from advertising dwindle as the site is neglected. Then the domain will be available to register come next year via go daddy auctions. Thats what happens to all the websites sold on Flippa, the scam of of scam sites. Im sure you could have used some ingenuity and maybe pursued a actual end user sale versus flopping it to the scum of the internet.
Most owner do not hide behind false names. Isn't it nice how people are so rude.

As Ron (aka Ryan) has indicated, the senior staff at Stratics are committed to maintaining the site and assisting us all through this transition. As fans of the game who most assuredly appreciate the 18-year history of Stratics, we take an active interest in its future and will do everything possible to minimize the impact of the change in ownership.
Whoever that owner may end up being, it is highly unlikely they will fail to recognize that it is in their best financial interest to retain the existing loyal staff and community members, particularly through the transition period and for some time beyond -- and we will be there to help. For those of you who have expressed support for Stratics' current direction and operations, we thank you. We will be here for you -- because however much we will miss Ron's leadership, we know that Stratics is an important part of the UO experience, and we are determined to do our utmost to make sure it goes on for as long as there is a UO to play in.

Ron Bron is the name he logs on games. If you have ever watched a stream you'd have seen it. There's no hiding behind names. He's always been very open about who he is. He's not a bad guy, he's just made some mistakes. Life is a learning experience.

My first change is going to be to add covered wagons to the forums.Well, I hope whoever ends up buying it keeps the inevitable changes at a minimum.

The only mandatory cost associated with the website is the server. The website is currently hosted on a cloud server with DreamHost for $100/month. Prior to September 2015, the website was hosted for free as a part of a promotional offer, so the monthly expense was $0.
Maybe this is the reason for the sale. All very well when there are no mandatory costs attached but as soon as there is its ditched.

That is not his reasoning, let me assure you of that. I'm not at liberty to discuss why he's decided to sell it, but I will say that I understand and even though I know it is a large risk on who the new owner will be, I have to support his reasoning.

Ron Bron has always been a strait forward and stand up sort of guy in my experience. I left the Stratics staff with Petra mainly because it was time. Ten years (almost >.<) was enough. I served Stratics with every owner it has ever had. Taylor and Ryan were most open and approachable. I wish them both luck and appreciate their efforts and dollars spent on keeping this forum open.
Who ever the new owner winds up being... I hope they take time to learn and interact with this incredible community of misfits that play a game 20 years out of date.

Seriously though, if I had time I wouldn't hesitate to pitch the cash.
Realistically one should invest in some temps or pay the current volunteers, to come in and update the information and website rapidly.

You mean the money coming in that has more than doubled since Ron bought Stratics? The site is and has been heading in the right direction financially, that's why I posted above that I know costs were not the definitive factor in him deciding to sell.

But we haven't taken down any real estate that wasn't gone when he took over ownership of the site!
If the next owner wants the site to make money, they are either going to need to get direct advertisers (not Google ads) or create a sellable product (think UOAssist)...la

I did a few weeks ago and decided to buy an electric guitar.
My extra cash seems to go to blurays. Although I want to get a Roku or the Apple version for my cottage. We have sucky Cable TV up there cause we don't wanna spend a fortune on it when we're just up there every now and then.

That banner... it won't let me see my alerts! UOMapper was recently dropped.. new owner could easily turn a profit using that. We shall see how this goes, I'm really inclined to believe someone on the forums with loads of cash is keeping it very hush hush and going to win this auction. Funny though, I return to stratics after a long time away & it goes on sale again.
