Replying to ur last message, for the convenience
Let it go... I've been called a "Flip" and a "g--k" before cause I am Fillipino... of course I knotted him up a bit for calling me that but ya know something, that was 15 years ago when I was young, dumb, and hot headed...
Who cares what people say to u via a video game??? Sure the comments are uncalled for and the content is racist... Bottom line bud is they know absolutely nothing bout u IRL and juss make themselves look idiotic, naive, ignorant, stupid, an assclown... the list goes on and on... Racism in it's littlest form is juss flat out rediculous... we all need each others races to make the world go round and that's all u need to see... Don't let anyone's racist comments get to u in a video game... They're juss ignorant...

Trin,
I totally agree with you. It's not necessarily that it gets me (though it does, that's no lie); rather, it's more that I'm trying to point it out so maybe it will stop. I know that's probably wishful thinking, but it would be very difficult for me to just sit by with it going on.

I also agree with both of you on that it doesn't matter to me personally what someone calls me in game. That doesn't mean that the whole thing should be disreguarded on a larger social scale.
If I recall right, Zarc has an advanced degree in Sociology. I think he would agree with me when I answer the question that was asked earlier. It was something along the line of "How can we be expected to stop when they call themselves that?"
I'm not going to answer it directly for you but I'll be kind enough to give you an example and a reading reference. When blacks were slaves it was common to have them branded. Now a lot of "black" fraternities continue to get brandings. Under your logic it us non-blacks should still be able to brand them. Branding implies ownership and therefore objectification just like using the word [censored].
So why do they do this now? It's the issue of Transcendence. Read some Jack Katz. When done within a group it takes on a different form, something that belongs to them. Something you can not have.
Edit: For anyone who actually believes they are justified because blacks call themselves a "degrading" word then they would not be afraid to hit the cornor of Florence and Normandie and freely shout it out and not run. I mean, it's okay right? Nothing will happen right? Because they believe and use it the same way right? If anyone is that stupid......... I'd rather just have people say, "Yeah, I said it" then try to justify their unjustifiable actions.
