Deadly Serious I am UK and to be absolutely truthful, I don't really notice a difference in the speed I move at between Siege and Europa. Check your ping, anything below around 120 - 130 won't really be an issue.
conversely, I played Europa for some time a couple of years ago, and never noticed any problems playing. in fact the only Shard i cannot function on is Oceania.

wearing 1 or more artifacts and you can only bless 1? i wouldn't want a perma bless anyway but a temporary one that you always have to work for on multiples of kit would for me be a nice touch.
Its not really a problem. It's a common myth that in order to play you need to have some sort of uber maxxed out suit but in reality unless you are soloing bosses, it's not that important if your gear is only 75% perfect or 99%. You don't NEED any artifacts at all to do basically everything in game.

Especially with imbuing, and the dungeon changes making relics readily available. Its super easy to get a good suit for a reasonable price, or a good enough suit for next to nothing.

Also, a ubber suit, that make you solo bosses will not make you a good PvP'er and you may end up losing it.
On Siege you do not use mills for a suit.
Here is the suits I stock my vendor with:
89,999 LRC100, MR6, 5x70
159,000 LRC 100, Luck 600, MR6, 5x70
89,999 MR6, HPR6, 5x70
159,000 MR6, HPR6, Luck600, 5x70
269,000 LRC100, MR6, LMC40, 5x70
269,000 HPR6, MR6, LMC40, 5x70

A newbie training suit, gm made with LRC 100 cost 15k

Even a newbie can make money on Siege, just grap a dagger, get wool from sheeps, kill them so they respawn.
Then go to a tailor shop, and use spinn and loom to make bolt of clothes and sell them for 200-300 gp at the bazaar vendors
Also look what else the bazaar vendors buy

some insightful posts, seige does sound like a fantastic challenge that i would enjoy but i would really like to commit to only 1 shard as opposed to another for if i want to be varied in anyway because i really do enjoy most of the skills UO has to offer.

I completely understand where Tyrath is coming from where he mentions how good it is from crafters to really commit and reap the benefits so in a way this is really an eye opener but if i don't have any crafting skills on my character i am completely reliant on other sources or farming the crap out of shame lvl 5 because i guess it doesn't really matter if kit is cursed or not really :p

So is there any method of obtaining skill stones? are these just bought from the EA shop? it would be nice if i could get imbuing/lockpicking/cartography and a few others just for some independence and just for the reason of doing something different.

Me and my friends have so far been very much enjoying banding together on Europa but we understand how corrupt things are and this would be a refreshing scene in a great game but thanks to this thread ill keep the option open :)

There is a craft-able one use soulstone fragment.

Or you can do whatever it is you find fun. For example dig up treasure. Then you use the profit from that to buy what you might need. There is no reason why you should have to support yourself. That's one of the best things about Siege if you ask me, you "need" to interact with strangers.

Also (as you probably know) the soulstones are a vet reward too.

ah right so if i start a character on siege my vet rewards will pop up? if i had my 2 red soulstones i would be happy.

If you have not picked them on another shard, yes. You do not get any extra just for Siege.

Even when many love the one char think, I really don't think 2 or 3 char slots would hurt the shard that bad. I have 5 accounts = 5 chars and several soulstones. If it not was for the houses I use for NEW2, I would had done fine with 2-3 accounts /chars and my soulstones. However, changing skills all the time is a pain and I would like an extra char or two on an account to share the soulstones and to use one for test/training of new skills.
Even when I do have 5 chars, most know, they are me.

You don't reallt need to go to level 5, the other levels have nice loot too. If you get imbuing on your char, you can sell relic 5k each, maybe more. I was unrawing for a friend doing Shame, he made a mill very fast that way. There will always be someone selling SS tokens, think they are around 4-5 mills each, may increase a little as the shard get more active. And you right, as you only can Siege bless one item, it do not matter if the rest is cursed.

Me and my friends have so far been very much enjoying banding together on Europa but we understand how corrupt things are and this would be a refreshing scene in a great game but thanks to this thread ill keep the option open :)
You and your friends should take a vacation on Siege and see how you like it :p

I have been playing on siege a few weeks and only about 1/3 of my play time. Anyone that thinks you can't make money on siege is misguided :) I have made around 10 mil just really goofing around have my hunting character scrolled up to 110 necro 110 SS 115 tame 115 lore and 110 vet and am stuck looking for a 110 or 115 mage scroll It is a 720 toon so when balanced out I will drop the med or focus down. Started this character Raw with no mythic and am have another 10 points to go in each skill to max where I want them. Granted this is a specific template for a specfic set of task but once I hit 80 mage the gold flowed into my treasury. BTW I run absolute crap equipment that I loot. My best armor set is one of Freja's that I share betweent the 3accts I use on siege. I did break down and buy 5 sould stones and mythic. meant to get six but has one to many beers and clicked the charger for a choice and was getting my kirinns out of the stable and saw a NEW2 with a dead horse so gave him the charger, call it a thanks to Freja and NEW2 for helping me out, since Freja is hard headed and won't take anything I have offered her as a thank you :) , olus two of my accounts hit 12 months after being created to 8 years so I got to pick 6 vet rewards, deed box, crystal portal, furn dye tub and 3 etheral horses. Still have some rewards on my old acct to choose and I am thinking the rezzing Ankh, Runebook tub, and maybe a couple of the show your an old fart etherals.
I did buy 1 mythic token and slapped mining, smithing, tailoring, imbueing and mage on my mule toon already had GM LJ and Carp on him from years and years ago when I first tried siege. I am pretty much a lone wolf on siege even though there is now a ZOOG chapter on siege its pretty much a guild of my characters and friends I share my houses with as they visit siege. Bottom line I still have a lot to learn about the mechanics and interaction on siege but there is no great secret to making money on siege. RUn the junkiest equipment you can get away with, hunt things that will give you the greatest return for time invested at your level. IE one of my money makers is hunting vorpal bunnies and picking cotton, in between thorns run an escort or a seed quest gate back plant another thorn, kill bunny collect loot to unravel, pick cotton and run another seed or escort. I do have enough active accts that I could be 100% self sufficient on siege just not nearly as fun as being part of a community and supporting what other folks like to do with their game time. So I die now and then and so will you its part of siege Dark wisp still have me 10-1 over PKs though :)

Just a lil status of the effect of this thread and Mesanna's words about a second house on Siege.

We see alot more players on Siege now, NEW2 have around 25 new chars, who had be active sinse they joined and a few less active. Also Ladra's thief guild got new young members, not sure how many.
I also see some back from last there was talk about a second house. I don't know how many new members other guilds got from returning Siege players but I see names around from the past.

Welcome to all the new Siege players, look forward to see new shops, new guilds, more crafters, gathers, PvM'ers, treasure hunters, PvP'ers or any other play style.

The community is what make Siege great and we need you all, special when the changes to armor goes in, I believe we will need alot of smiths, carpenters, tailors, imbuers together with gatheres of the resourrces they need.

We also need PvM'ers to get relic from new loot, essences and other imbuing resources from Abyss and PS from the champ spawn to all the new chars.

Come join us, we have a job for you too.
Also our economy is much more healty than on normal shards. I know alot will miss their vet revards, raised beds and other stuff, but they are way cheaper to buy on Siege and it do not take longer to make a few mills on Siege than on other shards.

I think we guilded eight new or returning thieves this month. If you only count the ones still active. And I too see lots of new names all the time. Siege population is exploding at the moment.

Even my little guild ZOOG has 2 new members and sent several NEW2's way. LOL Lots of people want to join ZOOG until I tell them what we do. LOL you would think we are the sewage workers of UO :) But still we work out good for a certain mentality and play style, while filling several voids and needs.

The influx of players has been seen. I have helped out a handful. Just in talking with some people on other shards, I got a few more people to come over and gave them access to my place to train up without being bugged. I think once the second house hits, we will have alot of part time players. Especially as more and more people learn that the new loot system is amazing for Siege, as you can have even better suits here then on production shards. The only thing is, your suit on Siege is just a lease :)

Making money fast is beyond easy, you find a need and fill it, you hunt productive yet level appropriate critters, you avoid BO, Just basic gold farming from the hunt with a lvl 60 mage I can farm 45-60k per hour in corpse gold another 190k per hour in refined product, I am making 90k per day avg from selling blue beetles, and now that my imbueing is up its all cake and I am making a couple mil a day from relic frags. Everything I do brings in money and everyone of my accounts toons is designed to make money. Most folks go after the high end stuff , I don't :)

Also Rumpy I don't "claim" anything that can't be seen in just the value of my keeps and houses. I will admit I bought a mythic to build my crafter toon 90 mining 90 smith 90 tailor, 90 imbue, 90 armslore and a half dozen stones for when I work carp, tink, mage, LJ and alchemy on the toon. But its going to be a while before -=G=- is a money making toon beyond unraveling junk.

EDIT -
I actually redid my math and realized I was WAY off. It would be possible to make a mil a day off relics if you managed to get 125 of them in the day.

The 10 mil is what caught me off guard, a few mil yes. To say you make a few mil a day, seems like a little bit out of reach. I can make well over a mil a day, but I do spawns and high end farming since I am suited/scrolled out.

Im not saying what your doing is impossible, just seems a little over the top. Not trying to bash you, so don't take it personal :)

An if you are getting these relic frags in mass, hit me up. I need some :)

Been selling relic frags for 8k Each 125 frags = 1,000,000 gold I can farm 125 frags with my mare in an hour maybe 2. LOL Don't feel bad everyone that knew on Legends knew what I farmed and could not believe I generate so much wealth so fast off low end crap. I am very capable of doing high end spawns but see no point when I can make 3x-5x more being the sewage worker of UO :)

Thats an insane amount of relic frags using just a nightmare. 2 of us farmed for a good 30-40 minutes (3 trips each) and only ended up with 65 Relic Frags all together.

What is it your farming to get such a seemingly high number of frags on low level creatures that a nightmare can tank on?

Now if I told you that then I would have competition. I also have a very good mare, an army of undead and a EV supporting the mare :)

LOL I have just had 15 years or so to refine my methods for Ant Hunting to a science where I can easily farm 12,000-15,000 Zoogies in a average day. Depending on how many 6,13,16, and 25 drops there are, add in massive amounts of gems, gold, and boxes full of junk I either smelt, cut up or unravel and you have a lot of money at the end of a ant hunting day. I also found the Mage, tamer, necro template is perfect for arti farming on certain things. I use the mare for now because I am training up lore and had been working mage so dropping the EVs gave me my mage gains and I started vet and lore at zero so needed the gains from slappin bandaids. It is a Myth that you have to have the best stats, best suits, and best critters to do well in uo and make a lot of money. I run crap suits have scrolled tame up to 115 lore 115, mage 110, necro 110, SS 110, leaving Vet at 100 and dropping Med to wherever it ends up. Stupidly I made my main on siege one of my youngest acct that is a month shy of 36 months. So I lost half the extra skill points for med. I put my houses in what have been called the worst places but almost every house is close to a spawn or a resource I collect. Even when I had just one acct on siege I had my house in the middle of ant country so I had a place to get away if I got over loaded with ants and as a drop point for the loot. Now that I have moved all but one acct to siege and bought some porter tiles I can easily hop from one house to the next farming gold and resources every step of the way.
Bottom line is what I do is not rocket science and since LBR ZOOG has farmed millions of ZOOGIES and sold millions of T powder, bags of sending, blue beetles, bracs of binding, pet balls, pic nic baskets, unkown bones, rare seeds, green thorns, orange petals, and red leaves. I personally have done very little other than hunt ants since LBR and Ants came to UO. I am a cetified ZOOGIE addict. Before I had to leave the game once or twice a year on legends I would host the "Great Zoogie Hunt" and have a week long contest of who could collect the most Zoogies and gave away first prizes like keeps, 120 scroll sets, and Doom Arties. Plus paid everyone 100 gold for every zoogie in their pile. So everyone got something and ZOOG got piles of ZOOGIES to run for powder without having to hunt the ZOOGIES and everyone had fun. Where I am going with this is that it might be a fun event to have on siege and a good way to help other newer folks to the shard make some respectable money and train their skills up at the same time.............Must think more about this.............Will have to wait until I have maded millions more and have aquired some worthy 1st 2nd and 3rd place prizes. and sorry Freja gone way OT I will make a thread about this in the future on the Siege boards.

I just don't get why some folks think I am a liar about how much money can be made doing simple things. Even if I were lying about the total I have earned during my time on siege (which I am not, Have no reason to) The simple outright value of my houses and keeps comes to around 11 million. I think maybe some think I am bragging again I am not. I have no reason to. I played for 15 years between Great Lakes and Legends and amassed a very large amount of wealth and was probably one of the most unkown players on either of those shards. Well Devils Own and Damia and few others knew of me but I don't typically run around flaunting what I have unless you entered one of my houses which tend to be stuffed with high end stuff.
The only reason I talk about how much I have made over the last three weeks or so on siege with a toon that started out with 50 mage and 50 tame is to help people understand that starting out on a new shard is not as difficult as it might seem. The only reason I bought 1 mythic token was for Imbuing as relic frags are easy gold. About the only easier gold than relic frags are seeds of renewal if you have a good amount of raised beds or want to mess with plant pots and alchemy and watering. I even make some of my better resource gathering houses open to the public. Want to mine I have a public house for that, train mage nd collect leather yeah have one open for that to, hunt red ants yep one for that as well, just visiting and need a safe place to log? YEah I will friend you to a public house while you make the money to get set up and will never take anything you leave in your boxes, might peek but wont touch :) I also ask for nothing in return other than you give siege a fair chance.
I do of course at this point have a interest in seeing siege grow and thrive as more people mean more demand for the things that I produce, make, refine collect and sell. I think anyone who promotes siege has that same basic interest and if me talking about being able to farm a mil plus a day when your most destructive spell is a blade spirit that fizzles half the time is a bad thing then it can be a bad thing but it still does not make it a lie, it is just basic game mechanics and patience with an understanding that the big and expensive is very rarely better but is good for flash and braggin rights. LOL the guys doing the grunt work behind the scenes are the ones making the serious money on any shard, unless you are popping a 120 mage or mystic every spawn but even then look how much time is invested in getting those scrolls and high end items. In the same amount of time the lowly sewage worker chugs along.
Granted my play style is boring as hell and mundane and without a doubt not for everyone but its what I do and I am one of the best at what I do prod. shard or siege its the same game with slightly different mechanics and different faces. That beong said Siege has a strong economy that is not over inflated to idiocy like production shards, a million gold has real value, items are just that items. Credit card kiddies that buy 3rd party site elite stuff don't play siege. No Zergs, scripters get pasted on sight, no x shard so whats made or earned on siege stays on siege. One might say Siege is as close to Real UO as one can get. If someone had ask me a month ago if I would move all of my accounts and houses to siege I would have ask how much crack they put in that pipe they were smoking............. Now I don't foresee me playing much at all on prod shards. Sure I am going to keep my Tyr Town Farm house on legends south of the yew gate (Amazingly I condensed my junk down enough to fit in a 18x18) and YES I KNOW a KEEP will fit where my house is, a keep wont hold 40 raised beds though :) Congrats to everyone on legends that got the castles and keeps I let go IDOC it was fun standing there with folks speculating on what was inside, LOL Yeah Union that was my empty keep we camped :) but I think you might have been suspecting some of those bust IDOCs on legends were mine ;)
Anyone that knows me though knows I am often to honest for my own good and lie about nothing IRL or in game. So before you call me out in general chat on siege perhaps you should atleast know the person you are calling a liar :) Myself I find lies and telling them just as repulsive in game as I do IRL but maybe thats why I run succesful businesses in both worlds.

I, for one, think that Tyrath has only ever told one lie in his entire life. :lie: The one lie he told to himself, saying his posts do not look like solid walls of text.

Otherwise, I think he's a pretty honest guy.

I've been playing Siege off and on since 2000, and a few times over the years I've deleted my character to change it radically. Finally got around to 7xing a crafter and I'm NOT deleting it this time.

Also wound up with a nice spot near Zento now for my house, woo.
