Come on, the posts are dripping with drama about the importance of OT, which is vastly overstated.
The point I believe people are trying to make is that if "management" make decisions like that without a) consulting the community it affects, and b) the staff working on that forum, then c) what confidence do we have in "management" to act professionally, and d) what confidence do the staff have in "management" to allow them to get on and do their jobs properly?
This is not about OT and drama - this is about someone acting without thought, consideration or professionalism, in a position where all three are needed in abundance.
All the people that posted in OT probably posted on other forums as well. They'll tell their friends what happened. They'll tell their friends about it. People that don't use Stratics will hear about it, about how a forum got shut down because someone who probably shouldn't be interfering in the day-to-day running of things anyway acted out of turn, and Stratics
as a whole gets a more negative reputation than it already has.
Why should I care? Overall, I don't, because I have plenty of other places to post about things of interest to me - however I did consider myself part of the overall Stratics community, and having spent 5½ years here racking up 15,000+ posts, have got to know some of the people I regularly sparred with on OT.
