I just did this crappy quest and turned in a set of armor, to get another of the same crappy books of truth that I have had stored for years. The same damn thing!!

There is a stealable in The SA expansion with this nomenclature as well. I was really rather hoping for even a low mod book. Oh well.

At least now you know you are not the only one.

I could be wrong but didnt the older blue ones say (Book of Truth?) and the new ones dont have a question mark. Im hoping maybe these new ones will be used in some way.

Just checked an old one that I have against the new one, and yes the old books do have a ? so they are at least slightly different even though they use the same graphic.

Don't feel too bad. I did the same quest. Big disappointment not the mention the loss of a decent suit that took me forever to put together. It was kind of like getting another anniversary cake, but this time it was flung in my face. OH well, maybe the least we can to is prevent other from making the same mistake. Too bad, I really was hoping for something special.

What you don't know is that these new Books of Truth will have significance in the future and will lead to a slew of threads complaining "why would EA do this to the players and not give them a chance to get this book....."

Okay, so I'm just making this all up but theoretically, the Devs could do this sort of thing, right? Because I said it, maybe I should go do the quest.

Hm....
So for those who follow the Bane, Truth is something personalised and relative.

That sounds somewhat allied to Blackthorn's view of the world...

So is that the only reward for getting the 7500 points is the ability to have your name on the book of truth, or is there a better reward?

the devs could have at least changed the damn colour....
Each of the virtues and each of the Principles (of which Truth is one) has their own color. Blue is the color of Truth. Or maybe you knew that and were just messing around.

Yes. These are for a reason ... You will need the new ones.

I and others are well aware of the Magincia quest that it ties into for the 'bad guys'.

Is there any reason for NON Bane followers to want to do this quest, aside from getting a book that there are literally thousands of on every shard?

Edit: And Cal, you set up a war on Magincia with absolutely no incentive. While 'being good' is a great RP incentive, it doesn't cut it for most I'm noticing as I spend literal HOURS there fighting with the same 1-2 people, otherwise it's like Fel outside Yew moongate... totally dead, lol. Could you not supply some in game reason for assisting in fighting back the Bane there? Even set up the old 'Britain war timer' where you could push back the army for a while? A title for kill points? An interesting set of Bane Armor to loot off of the dead? Anything?

It was a little curious that after we defeated the Mages, they were then gone. It took several times among us different small groups, and seemed to lack a definitive cause, but still curious.

Myself, I haven't been there because I have a need to boost up my characters, so I've been working up Imbuing and a few other skills, and working on getting ingredients, cash, etc., to continue waging this war.

So, this book is important, evidently to us "good guys", and Cal doesn't want to say why. I'm not against this if there's some meaning to it (not necessarily a reward, per se) at some point. I'm not against waiting. If it's sort of a true test to Virtue, or simply being on the good guy side despite the temptations to evil, I'd be ecstatic.

Well, actually, he said simply there was a reason to get them. And that reason, so far, is for the 'bad guys' to use. If you read again, he didn't say specifically there was a 'reason for the good guys'... just a reason. And right now, that reason is the Magincia quest the Bane are handing out. I would have felt better if he did indeed say 'Yes, the players who play 'good guys' will also benefit at this quest in the long term'. But he didn't.

What better true test of Virtue?

But I know, we've never seen that sort of thing in UO, rather 13 years of bad guys always coming out ahead. I want to believe, because the game would be so great with some such hidden agenda. But it's also been such a huge let down over the years in this regard.

How do you loose a set of armor?
Well, first you get a screwdriver and loosen all of the screws. Be careful though, you might LOSE a few of them in the process.

This has been a public service message from me, Bill Gates of OSD. :spider:

If there is ONE thing I have learned over the years... NEVER try to predict what moves they will do next. They could take this deal in ANY number of directions. Yet folks want to gripe about losing a great suit (yeah real great that's why you could pick them up for 1m at best). Follow the plot line and just have fun in the actions, don't do it for this item nor that item.

But I do agree they need to turn getting loyalty for the Bane when killing the Ophidians back on. Trying to grind from 3500 to 7500 only killing the low spawn Meer is tough.

*edit*

One last thing.... I am loyal to the Bane (2300 range) yet their Dragons are still flagging me as I run around?
