Global Arc

Acts 3 and 4 for the awakening have been completed. Please keep an eye on your Town Criers for upcoming news. Continue on with this quest and you too can have your own heirlooms. As always watch the herald for future fiction.

Clean up Britannia – 4 new dyes

  • Glossy Fuchsia

Faction Score System

All faction scores will be reset to 0
All Faction members will return to Rank 1
Faction score now decays at a rate of 1% (rounded down) of score per day. Scores of 199 or below will decay 1 point per day. Scores of 200 to 299 lose 2 points per day, etc..
Players with 0 Faction score will always be assigned Rank 1 and are no longer counted in Faction membership totals when determining the size of ranking brackets
Faction Pet Combat Fixes

  • Faction players may now order their pets to attack member of the same faction
  • Pets will now correctly guard against attacks from same-faction players
  • If a faction player attacks the summoned creature of a member of the same faction, the summoned creature will retaliate
  • Summoned creatures will attack aggressors who are in the same faction as the summoner
Commodity Broker Fixes

  • Commodity Brokers can now deal in brilliant amber, parrot wafers, taint, putrefaction, scourge, and all Spellweaving scrolls
  • Commodity Brokers now identify and can trade in exceptionally crafted commodities. Any exceptional items that are "hidden" in Commodity Broker inventory will become accessible by the owner, allowing retrieval or price setting.
  • The Commodity Broker window has been widened to better accomodate the longer commodity item names
  • Enhanced Bandages are now named "Enhanced Bandage" instead of "Clean Bandage"
  • Commodity Brokers now deal in Enhanced Bandages
Poison Cure Changes – Increased chance to Cure

Greater Cure Potion:
25% chance to cure lethal poison
45% chance to cure deadly poison
75% chance to cure greater poison
100% chance to cure standard and lesser poison
Cure Potion:
15% chance to cure lethal poison
30% chance to cure deadly poison
50% chance to cure greater poison
100% chance to cure standard and lesser poison
Lesser Cure Potion:
5% chance to cure lethal poison
10% chance to cure deadly poison
15% chance to cure greater poison
40% chance to cure standard poison
100% chance to cure lesser poison

Bug Fixes

  • It is no longer possible to obtain extra empty bottles by drinking Invisibility Potions
  • The Damage Eater property now counts as a property for Imbuing and Unraveling purposes. The property weight is 90%; the normal cap is 6% (this is 100% intensity), and the "overcap" maximum is 9% (150% intensity). A 9% Damage Eater counts as 135% weighted intensity.
  • Items turned in for Clean Up Britannia now only go to the Cavern of the Discarded at the intended 1% rate.
  • NPCs can no longer become Angry Rioters or Angry Protesters if they are in the Yew Prison
  • Players can no longer attack prisoners in Wrong. Monsters, however, still can attack the prisoners as they are being escorted.
  • The Britannian Ship now travels at maximum ship speed, whether it was initially placed from drydock or from a new deed.
  • Players mounts will no longer randomly become auto-stabled on login
  • Archery no longer allows players to trigger special moves on weapons with Use Best Weapon Skill
  • Potion Kegs now update their weight when used on a gardening plant
  • Brokers will no longer open the gates to their animal pens
  • Shame and Wrong loot generation now produces better quality item from tougher creatures
  • City Banner deeds can be purchased from the City Guards by those with sufficient City Loyalty
  • There are two new foundation sets in House Customization: Gothic and Board and Batten (require account entitlements)
  • Scroll of Alacrity effect will now pause when the character logs out and the timer resumes on next login
  • The Focusing Gem of Virtue Bane can no longer be used on runic hammers
  • Shame monsters now have Fame and Karma ratings more in line with their toughness
  • The Hungry Ogre no longer drops an empty bag as part of its loot
  • Snow has been removed from Britannia
  • Reduced duration of the slow walk effect for splintering weapons to correct time of 4 seconds
  • Mobs are no longer able to bleed attack players who are in bleed attack immune forms.
  • Soul Charge properly works on the cool down period for 40 seconds.
  • Bestial Suit (Berserk Effect) Update: Players can no longer remain in stealth while in rage. Berserk timeout duration lowered to 5 seconds from 15
  • Increased natural poison resistance to 20% of the player’s poisoning skill.
  • If you are wearing Morph Earrings your elven items will not be sent to your bank upon death
  • The Dryad bow will no longer spawn with a throwing skill
  • Players have to be within 2 tiles to dress a Mannequin or vendor
  • Night Terrors will no longer teleport players to a stuck location
  • The Binding rope is blessed now
  • The Pilots wheel will retain being blessed in deed form
  • Norton the Fisher should no longer be missing from the New Haven Docks
  • You will no longer to make exceptional Enchanted Apple.
  • If a runebook hue is 0, it will no longer be changed to default hue automatically.
  • Black dye tub will have a localized name.
  • You will be able to add “blessed” status to various hooded robes.

The classic client patcher has now been updated to streamline the patching process for the Classic Client. This change should cut down on patching errors a lot of our players have experienced. A new installer can be found here http://www.uoherald.com/downloads.

Item Property Classifier

The character abilities window now features a detailed listing with descriptions of all active item properties that your character has from equipment. It also displays a detailed list of all available properties that can be displayed.

Big patch! And it was a bit confusing to have it the classic client patch using the enhanced client's patcher system....kinda threw me for a loop until I found the publish/patch notes on the Herald!

They're fixing a bug. For the last couple of years, you could not defend yourself using pets or summons if a faction mate attacked you using weapons or spells. And yes, it is not uncommon for faction mates to attack each other. It was just plain stupid though that certain types of faction characters couldn't use their pets or summons to defend themselves because some developer messed up a couple of years ago trying to fix a problem unique to Siege and Mugen. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! definitly makes it easier to kill, the duration change is interesting, but the stealth part is amazing. With the duration change i can see the suit actually having slightly better uses tho (it nerfs those that didn't have a way to heal, and helps those that do have a way to heal). overall tho, great change.

Soul Charge properly works on the cool down period for 40 seconds.

huh? soul charge wasn't working right? What was it doing previously?


Cure potion changes

Thanks i think? The lethal cure chance was less than 25% before? oh boy. Least i hopefully won't have to fly through 12 cure pots now lol.

Well, if the developers wanted to make it so you can't attack faction mates, then they need to make it impossible to do by any possible means, not some half-assed fix that makes one template completely vulnerable to all others.

I agree that killing your faction mate should mean you lose points. However, keep in mind that some characters are nearly always in a deficit anyway (and deficit is capped at -6, I think), may be totally unreliant on faction artifacts, don't want a faction war horse (because every time you log in or out the damn thing's name shows up wherever your character is), and also don't care if they never become the commanding lord. So, to a player with a character like that, losing points for killing a faction mate would be meaningless. And if someone puts a character in an opposing faction just to wreak havoc (while their best chars are in a different faction), they surely won't care about losing points either. Would be just like someone to put a stealther with poisoning in blessed clothing in another faction to go around poisoning people while they're half-asleep while pulling guard duty. They'd laugh at any traps and have a field day. And besides, the idea of spies and saboteurs in your midst is, to me, a big part of the intrigue of factions. I think the possibility for them to exist needs to stay, but again, everyone needs to have a fair chance of defending themselves and that surely has not been the case for the last couple of years, especially for people playing tamer characters.

Also - wouldn't blocking the ability to attack faction mates make sparring and PVP training impossible for members who are in the same faction?

Or if a PVP tournament is held - and the two finalists are in the same faction?

Opening my classis client using UOAssist causes the patch to patch everytime I open the client!!!

But they still haven't turned on the town criers on Siege! Grrrr! And we *still* have seen no raiders. It's awful to feel like the red headed stepchild. :(

I'd still bump the GC chances a little more, but eliminate the cure and lesser cure's ability to cure lethal and/or deadly.
So the REAL QUESTION becomes....how are these percentages affected by Alchemy and Enhance Potions? This would be a good time to get this answered since everyone will be looking at this thread for the next week.

i hope they fix this, everytime i open uo it needs to patch again....
If this isn't something they can change, I'm hoping that at least most days the process of checking to see if there's a patch doesn't take 3-4 minutes. Sitting and staring at that bar is going to be exceedingly painful if you crash and have to log back in quickly.

I wonder if this isn't a prelude to forcing us to have to play UO through the Origin client.

I haven't downloaded the Origin client yet because I don't play any other EA games, but it seems like it's a program that manages downloads plus gives you tools for making playing your games from EA (and some third parties) a more social experience, e.g., by providing a profile page, social notifications for pestering your friends, a way to chat with other players while you're logged in, etc.

Also, for years now we were able to open the client multiple times. Following this Patch that is no longer possible. Is this intended or just another massive screw up by our Developers???

The object of that questline is to get the Ter Mur Snowglobe.
That is one of the rewards, yes... But if you read what Linzrom says the quest if for, you'll realize it is the second part of the ingredient list for the ritual to lower the barrier keeping the Defiler invulnerable. Since the Defiler is dead, there is no logical need for ritual components.

If there is that high a demand for the snow globe, which I highly doubt at this point, they should create a new quest that makes contextual sense.

I'm sorry that Inside UO doesn't work anymore, but you do realize what this means don't you? It's the end of the various art hacks for the classic client... At least temporarily...

In other words, for right now this is amazing news. :D

very interesting update indeed... I think it's time to have a proper bug forum now to sort and help the devs to fix bugs :)

It's pretty smart the idea of give the detailed info of every item properties available in the game on the abilities info for EC. A really importante feature especially for new users ;)

And still no fix for runic hammers? They don't give 35% DI anymore like they used to for EX crafted weapons. They only give 20% like they did 10 years ago. It was changed to 35% years ago with 5% for 100 arms lore. The last reforging patch broke it with no notes and we've reported it a dozen times.

Wake up Dev team. Asleep on the job again...

Stop torturing crafters will ya?

I find it odd that they can import the classic artwork into the new file format, and have it run in CC, but even if they have to limit the screen size, they can't use classic artwork in the new client.

I'd ask Grim about that, but he's on vacation, I believe.

I find it odd that they can import the classic artwork into the new file format, and have it run in CC, but even if they have to limit the screen size, they can't use classic artwork in the new client.

I'd ask Grim about that, but he's on vacation, I believe.

We should have a proper forum where each bug has 1 thread so the devs can read it fast and us all can share extra info and let it fast to read... :)

yea thats basically what it is. what i meant though was, imagine trying to get uoassist integrated with it lol.

Maybe it has to do with the window resizing or the zoom functionality, but if you could disable those features and lock the window size and have it look EXACTLY the same as it does in the CC with the EC's UI, I'd be a happy camper.

If that was the cost of having everything in EC, which apparently uses the exact same art as CC, look EXACTLY like it does in CC without the blurriness and scaling issues, I'd happily pay that cost.

This is an optional mode I'm speaking of, by the way. Just in case that wasn't clear.

lol ok a option yes! I prefer EC graphics and such to each their own as long as we as players have the choice is all i care about

It is blurry because they to upsized the original resolution CC art to 1.5x from its original size so it wouldn't be postage stamp-sized in the EC. It was a bad idea implemented VERY poorly. The CC art simply wasn't designed with today's resolutions in mind. Unless it is redone Saphireena style, CC art will never look good on a modern monitor at a modern resolution.

This is the price CC users pay for nostalgia.

And Saphireena's work is legendary. I'm not talking about IMPROVING the CC graphics within the EC client - That's a major task. I'm talking about just using the existing, unaltered CC assets in the EC.

I always use EC now.. Makes mining a lot easier, and the modern interface is a godsend, but the graphical differences really nag at me. If I could get the CC look as a toggle, with the EC's UI, that'd be a winner in my book.

As stated, the EC artwork is nothing more than CC upsized - They already do the legwork for both clients. Just let me point the EC to load the art files in my CC directory.

As for resolution, I play just fine at the locked down resolutions - I have no problems finding coins, rings, or pieces of Blackrock in CC at it's max resolution. I make ample use of the black space myself. Plus the EC has ways to combat that too, with the way you can switch container modes.

If they could make the window bigger and show more terrain, even with the CC max resolution, that would be neat, but for me, that wouldn't be required.

When I get home, I'll try to create an image of what I'm looking to do. Maybe it will illustrate my request better than my words!

you can do that easily:
go to the input tab into the options and remove the zoom from the mouse wheel, then use my Profile Manager software to fix the zoom to the best value, and you have clean items :p

Not sure this is actually enough of a nerf for bestial suits.... People can still ninja form away and confidence sooner? There should be a cooldown for the rage effect. The problem with a 5 second timer; if you hold the last flamestrike they can drink a heal as soon as rage comes off, get flamestruck, and they are back in rage.

So a mage in a bestial suit can... take 250 dmg surviving the sync dump... run off and cast heal after five seconds when it turns off? Sorta sounds like they made the suit better?

I highly recommend this part be omitted. It's gonna be VERY HARD to get started with rank now unless they add the double/quadruple back in. The 2x4x point thing is fine AS LONG AS points decay quickly like they're suggesting. As it stands now no one will be rank at all anywhere for a while. At least if characters with 0 points counted it would help SOMEWHAT, then 2-3 points could be rank 10 (for a day or two). Let's not fail to mention those that pvp on multiple shards in faction fights using faction gear. Too bad for those poor souls.

Not sure this is actually enough of a nerf for bestial suits.... People can still ninja form away and confidence sooner? There should be a cooldown for the rage effect. The problem with a 5 second timer; if you hold the last flamestrike they can drink a heal as soon as rage comes of ,get flamestruck, and they are back in rage.
have you tested this on TC ? I would suggest we do that before we even think about changing anything else

Nope, but I know the game was better before bestial suits were in it. No nerf for them will be extreme enough. They add nothing to the game.
