Happy 16th Year Anniversary!!!!!!!!

Ultima Online’s 16th anniversary gift bag will be delivered between midnight Monday, September 15th, 2013 and midnight October 14th, 2013. Characters need to be 30 days or older to receive the gift bag which contains :
• a 16th anniversary pony statuette (no it is not a pink pony)
• 16th anniversary gift card
• 16th anniversary plant deed
• 16th anniversary silver serving tray.
New Potted plant deed will create a specially hued Japanese maple tree, a wall mount staghorn fern deed, a potted dieffenbachia plant or a specially hued enormous Venus flytrap plant. The Venus flytrap plant functions just like a trash can which allows you to have more than one trash can in your house and is tied to the Clean up points.


Cleanup Britannia Update

Based on player feedback we have added four new cleanup Britannia rewards. These items include the Refinement Amalgamator, Nature’s Tears, Lune Rouge and Soleil Rouge. We have also added back all of the old dyes.

Exploring the Deep
A New Quest & Encounter have been added. Visit Hepler the Salvager Master at the Sons of the Sea in Trinsic. This is the first part of a three part content Arc which will be developing over the next few months.
City Government Changes

• Daily treasury taxation has been removed.
• Citizens may now donate items directly to the City Heralds, Governors can access those donations by using the City Stones.
• A bulletin board for intra-city communication has been placed in proximity to the City Stone in each loyalty city.
• Governors may place a ballot box to poll their citizens by accessing the option from the City Stone.

Halloween 2013

• During the month of October (October 1st – October 31st ET) Butchers can be found in Graveyards throughout Britannia.
• Butchers have a chance to drop a “Carving Kit.”
• Carving kits can be used on new carveable pumpkins to craft 9 different Jack o’ Lanterns.
• Carveable pumpkins can be found on Grimms, randomly spawning in pumpkin patches throughout Britannia.
• Some old and some new items have been added to Trick or Treating, including the heads of the UO Dev Team on a pike. GM Begging is required to have a chance at special Trick or Treat rewards, including the Heads on a Spike.
Character Transfer and Character Copy Changes

Due to some issues that have popped up recently with the cancellation of character transfers we have added the following protection to the system.

• The 24 hour waiting time between character transfers will now also applied to character copies
• In addition, each cancelled character transfer or character copy will be followed by an increasing waiting time based on their number of recent cancels. The first cancelled transfer or copy will be followed by a 5 minute waiting time before another transfer or copy can be attempted. Each additional transfer or copy which is attempted and cancelled within 60 minutes of the first cancel, will add an additional 5 minutes to the waiting time.

Misc Changes:

• New Item Property Bane is found on certain weapons. This on hit property will only trigger when targets health is below 50%. As the targets health decreases the chance for the property to fire will increase along with the damage. Bane will damage the target with 30% of the targets max hit points in physical damage.
• Refinement Amalgamator – Allows refinements of the same type and level to upgraded to the next level. Purchasable from Cleanup Britannia.
Level Requirements:

• 2 “Type” of Defense required to upgrade to 1 “Type” of Protection.
• 3 “Type” of Protection required to upgrade to 1 “Type” of Hardening.
• 4 “Type” of Hardening required to upgrade to 1 “Type” of Fortification.
• 5 “Type” of Fortification required to upgrade to 1 “Type” of Invulnerability.
New Titles: Veteran

• Unlocked at 2 years : Explorer of Darkness
• Unlocked at 4 years: Avenger of the Enchantress
• Unlocked at 6 years: Slayer of Exodus
• Unlocked at 8 years: Quester of the Avatar
• Unlocked at 10 years: Warrior of Destiny
• Unlocked at 12 years: Fulfiller of the False Prophecy
• Unlocked at 14 years: Destroyer of the Fellowship
• Unlocked at 16 years: Survivor of Pagan
• Unlocked at 18 years: Ascendant of the Guardian
• Removed account age limit to use vet reward items. This change does not remove the account bound limitation set on some vet rewards.
• Houses with rental vendors will now fall once they cycle completely through two IDOC states.
• Rental vendor owners will now receive in game messages if the houses they are in go into a collapsing state.
• Added a new cooking recipe, a craftable 3 teir cake recipe can be found on the Orge Cook, Fezzik, in the Wrong Dungeon. These cakes can be dyed by the natural dyes.
Bug Fixes
• All footwear can now be dyed using standard dye tubs, leather dye tubs and natural dyes.
• The non-meddable armor pieces of the Virtuoso’s Set, the Fisherman’s Set and the Bestial Set can now have the mage armor property applied via a mage guildmaster.
• Players will no longer erroneously receive wall tiles from the Heartwood fletching quests.
• Added five additional dungeons (Blighted Grove, Painted Caves, Palace of Paroxysmus, Prism of Light and Sanctuary) to the Corrupted Crystal Portal. The Felucca location for the Palace of Paroxysmus cannot be accessed through use of the Corrupted Crystal Portal.
• Updated the Exodus encounter stolen item list to include Dread Horn Mane instead of Pristine Dread Horn.
• Removed several blocked locations from the Despise call to arms landing zone.
• Added several items to the list of items that are dyeable by the metal dye tub.
• Corrected the gaman’s command acknowledgement sound effect. The pet should no longer whistle like birds.
• Added the ability to use Tokuno and/or Haochi dyes on the Shroud of the Condemned robe.
• Added salvage bags to the list of items that are sold by the Ter Mur gargish provisioners.
• The quest system will now recognize more of New Magincia for escort NPCs that are travelling to that city.
• Hit curse item property now uses constant power and no longer uses player skill to determine duration.
• Container’s contents are now viewable in the trade window.
• Reforging packages – Mage weapon has been added to Wizardry and Quality packages.
• Re-enabling House dueling with non guild mates. Attacking player outside of house while moving will still result in ejection.
• Secured containers that are created from deeds (Alchemist Bookshelf, Fountains of Life, etc.) in houses will remain secure after house customization.
• Gargoyle players can no longer use a bola attack and essentially fly at the same time.
• You will no longer be able to track a player after his death.
• You are now able to save macros using the number pad on non US keyboards
• Trial accounts are no longer able to use shard transfer tokens or character copy.
• Invisible players will now have to pass a stealth check to remain invisible when using any type of teleporter.

So, if a monster has like 65k HP, doesn't that mean it would do over 19k damage? Or on a 140 HP player, that would be ~ 42 damage?

Yes, Yes, You are going to have to do the quest to find out, and currently capped at 900 damage which is subject to change.

In my opinion it is a HORRIBLE idea to add soulstones to the cleanup list. currently many soulstones end up in a repository, so if players return and their house has fallen, there is the possibility that skills can be recovered. Most idocers will trash all the soulstones if they can be used for points.

I also dont like the idea of "of exceptional quality" items being turn in points, i feel they are an important link to the past and better to keep them scattered around. Not a huge issue tho like the soulstones.

The way i see it from the vague description, if i have 150 health (as most characters do) I bring a player to 50 percent health, then do an AI. That AI does 35 damage (the cap) then there is an additional 45 damage from the Bane proc. So essentially, it could take a single hit to bring a player from half half to dead?

I guess I like the frag turn-in idea... but as for the full stones... well it's not the worst thing that could be done with them. I've kept some around for years but they don't belong to anyone I know apparently... And far as I know no repository on GL's.

As for the "of exceptional quality" items... personally I always felt if it was crafted by someone I cared about or had a cool name great otherwise it's all trash to me... guess it's what you like. Personally I wish that AoS clothing wasn't on that list to throw away stuff either because I like them... but they have been for ages... Thankfully more people sell them than throw them I think. I suppose if there is still a market for the ex quality items then folk would be more profited by selling them than throwing them.

I would be ok with that. I am just concerned with people who have legitimately taken a break, either expectedly or unexpectedly, and now people will be greedily snatching up their soulstones to turn them into points. Currently there are good Samaritans in the community who hang onto soulstones in case players return later, but those will get fewer and fewer with this new system. Allowing the trade-in of soulstones is another example of rewarding anti-social, "me first", community behavior.

Those of you who object to the turn-in list remember that you do not have to turn in anything.

Bane property, sounds good for PvM (a warrior Word of Death) but not so much for PvP.

Also, even in PvM, please remember this much: Anything new you throw in will be stacked on top of what's already there. It's not like Sampires can't use the Bane property (based on that writeup). Or Spellweavers with a mage weapon (again, based on that writeup). Word of Death till out of mana, then hit with your Bane Dagger.

Maybe can you make it like the last-ditch assault special move from Star Wars Galaxies? Toggle-able (rather than random), maybe costing Mana, and does something bad to your defense while you're getting ready for the Big Hit?

Why make the 18th year Veteran Reward title evil?

Why not pick between Ascendant of the Guardian and Ascendant of the Avatar or Ascendant of Virtue?

Granted: I do like very much the way the titles followed the single-player games.

For 7, why not "Traveler of the Black Gate" or "Closer of the Black Gate?" (This would then, in a UO context, potentially be a reference either to the way the Harrower spawns or to the Virtuebane story arc [In the Shadow of Virtue].)

This is rubbish for two reasons.

1. These established exchange rates for Invulnerability, 120 to 1 for Defense, 60 to 1 for Protection, 20 to 1 for Hardening, are absurdly low when one considers how rare even a Hardening refinement is.

2. It's even more absurd when factoring in the statistical 15% and 30% chances for a bonus mod that in practice are even worse.

Make two of a refinement upgradable to the next level, and the bonus roll have a 50% chance, and then refinements will be worth getting actively.

1) BANE: On 150 HP character that's 45 Damage but the IMPORTANT question is if it's DIRECT Dmg ?? or Does 45 dmg get reduced to 13.5 if the Target has 70% Resist?

2) Hit Curse... Specifics !! Duration? & I'm going to assume the effect is the same as spell.. so what is the "Constant power" end result for DURATION and can the effect be reset to MAX duration again prior to it ending by hitting the target again?

I've suggested stacking refinement effects since the beginning, which would be enough that nobody would care about a poor 15% chance for a 5th mod. Stacking would allow for combinations of 56 and 75 resists, with minimal impact on DCI. And it wouldn't be that hard to code, that's the shame!

Im all for the cleanup system. best addition to uo in years, hey, we are getting Something for stuff that would be otherwise left on the ground. But we've become used to it, its definitely not "exciting" anymore (not that its supposed to be)

I was hoping for really big item, something i could look forward to every time i threw away all the void orbs from farming or whatnot. Looks like the dyes will have to suffice. ive never actually claimed one tho, rather just buy one for 5 mil and keep my points.

Okay, so first off, I don't understand why people are getting so sentimental about soulstones. If a person comes back they can buy new soulstones @ $10 per, and the people who quit and had a lot of them probably cheated and stole codes from work or friends in the first place. There is absolutely nothing sentimental about hoarding soulstones IMO...and the people who left the soulstones won't likely ever come back, either. Further, if the people who lost the soulstones couldn't figure out a way to contact a friend to hold them...then *shrugs.* Do you guys really find yourselves being the stranger who helps the returning hermit who lost it all? Seems like an unlikely scenario.

Anyway, I approve of soulstones being on the turn-in list. It's a choice, and it makes sense. More points for me, more profit for EA should those hermits/cheaters ever come back and need to buy more soulstones.

At 10 pts per, harpsichord rolls are going to the floor as soon as I get them. Raise it to 50, or 100 or something. At 0.1 per Boura Fur...lol...why? What's the point? For that one guy who has been hoarding forever, and can now turn in a stack of 60,000 for 6k points? This is why we need to turn in soulstones, rofl...

Look forward to the new Quest, and the Halloween ideas seem cool.

As for the Bane proc, 30% of 150 HP is 45 physical damage, and 45 divided by 70% physical resist is 13.5 physical damage...so unless I'm missing something from the above posts, I'm not seeing the proc as being something that is that OP. It'll be pretty OP for PvM, however.

Dang if I know. I have not ran a fletch quest in a long time. This did make me go to Heartwood to see whats up tho... nothing yet tho
