2410 + statue = 3410 + Fel 1000 = 4410!
4410 luck is actually overkill as you only need 3982 for a 100% proc; honor would not improve upon success in this situation.
You only need 1,144 luck for a 50% proc, which to me is reasonable enough given your suit will actually have decent mods other than luck. No way in hell I'd be satisfied with a suit that only had 35 cold resist. I obtained the mempo and garb when they were available and have a 1,900 luck base and decent (60s) resists, but I would focus on spined kits and re-forging paired with the 100% enhance tool you can get through UO's Origin store rather than bother with the 80M needed to "be there."

for arties? true, but also consider the gauntlet has a guaranteed drop system, as well
so I'd wager faster kill efficiency would be more important than high luck in that situation.

I had the same problem yesterday building my 2200 Luck Gargoyle Suit. I couldn't get a shield above 140 with Copper Runics.

well luck is pretty straight forward--until you cap 100% I guess ;P but otherwise it's RNG bump. that being said, you can still end up with really crappy loot that is bumped to just plain crappy, and not really. so even if you max out, you're still going to sift through some ****.

Hm I'll have to do some digging. I thought they made a change in which luck was selected randomly amongst those qualified on the loot list but I can't verify. Perhaps around the time they changed how healing affects loot chance.
i use a shield sometimes on samp. it just means you cant parry but alot of the time you dont need too. i also found that using mace and shields for the hld often is better than a luck piece because it ensures you get perfection bonus, plus kill stuff faster (mostly for high end stuff where theres alot of misses without hld)
I saw a noticeable difference when my luck statue wore off putting me at 700 from 1650. I was getting an artifact of some level every 5 minutes or so with, and didnt see any in over 10 minutes with 700.
you can buy one, should be pretty cheap, otherwise you can kill stuff in the anti-virtue dungeons, and one has a chance to appear in your back pack.
Its a 10th anniversary item, you can get them by killing stuff in legacy dungeons like shame, wrong, destard etc it will they will drop in your pack, but you can probably easily find a bunch of them in public houses you can use. Looks like a little blue/purple globe with a UO symbol on it. Called 10th anniversary statue.
I don't think it can be disregarded. I had noticed this change earlier in Shame, before the latest patches and publishes. My tamer seemed to be collecting loot as per usual, until joined by a friend and we partied up. Tamer was still the lead damage source, but the quality of the loot changed drastically, and not for the better. So the new motto must be, Go lucky, or go home. Hmmmm
