Ok, lets see if I can make a reasonable statement to this issue:
Disclaimer: I am known as somebody who dislikes PVP and hates most PKs deeply. I almost never met a PK who was not a selfish, greedy, aggressive, arrogant, childish scumbag. But I wont argue about this within the following lines. Changes made to powerscrolls should not affect the shard I am playing most of the time, which is Siege Perilous. On SP things should not change, even though I am victim of PKs several times of the week with the loss of items, time and fun. But that´s Siege and I chose it deliberately. What I am arguning about is prodo shards.
Ok, that being said, let me please tell you a short story: Out of curiosity I logged into a tamer I had on Drachenfels. I havent played that toon for years and I hoped to find legacy pets in his stables. Lucky me, I found a 75+ intensity legacy nightmare in my stable and a legacy WW with 760+ strength and 50+ intensity. For a short moment I was dreaming of training those two pets and playing on Drachenfels a bit. Of course, I had some disheartening meetings with PKs on Siege and was so annoyed that I thought I might give my old shard a new chance.
I checked the skills of the toon: No mastery primer on it. And only 80 taming with ALOT of skills on jewelry. Then I checked vendor search: No scrolls for the pet, not even 110. The scenario would be this way: Training up Taming to at least 90. Finding somebody who transfers to Atlantic and buying primers and scrolls for tons of gold. Given the potential loss of time and money I decided to keep the pets in the stable and play Siege again, which is still the shard where my heart belongs to, even though it is giving you a hard time sometimes.
What do I want to say with this short story: There are so many obstacles to getting set up again when you are playing on a small shard. I know, there would have been people helping me out with scrolls and primers. But if you want to make your way, it is just not intuitive or inviting. Think of the ways you have to go, if you are a noob: the stupid shard transfers, the luck you need for getting a lvl3 primer drop, the time you need to train up taming and so on. Getting 110 scrolls for the pet is the smallest problem, as there are some useful within the 6 you get when soloing a spawn - most of the time.
I am not complaining, no way. I am one of the people who live by the motto that work and Investment make accomplishments worthwile and valuable. The satisfaction comes when you have been frustrated before. I am good, I dont need anything. I play on Siege with houses full of stuff and toons and pets trained up to the level I need and I am part of a wonderful guild.
But with a wife, with kids and a Job it is NO FUN AT ALL that there is no shortcut to certain game resources other than buying from other people (even people I really find disgusting). That kills fun. Yeah, I know the replies: Go, find another game! No, I dont want to.
Devs did some good things lately, which would make it easier for newcomers and returners. Why not offering a tamer´s package on the store? Level 3 primer, all scrolls, hitching post, soulstone with 120 taming, lore and vet for - lets day - 49,90 bucks?
And then add pet skill scrolls in another color to abandonded places, peerless lairs, virtue dungeons and so on: A rare chance of getting a 110 or 115 wrestle, tactics, anatomy etc. from Melisande, Travesty, the Stygian Dragon, Swoop and so on? Doesnt even have to be 120 scrolls. Wouldnt cost much and bring life again to dead places.
Just my 5 Cents.
