I was going to make a "will you be sailing in the horse latitudes" joke, but then I looked closer... the cabin boy is a goat, and the 1st mate is something that looks suspiciously like a winged quadruped.

Cabin Boy is responsible for boot, shoe and sandal disposal when fishing - he eats them.
Deckhand is responsible for taking charge of the catch and transporting it to shore.
First Mate is responsible for repelling boarders - water eles, sea serpents and occasionally kraken.

Say you're in a big room, filled with people that want horrible things to happen to you at their hands/claws/teeth/tentacles/mandibles/whatnot, and there are two people there who look at you without hatred/hunger/cold-dead-eyes-of-a-killer... Who in that room are you likely to get closest to?
Therefore, who is going to have the easiest time of making bad things happen?

People there don't have dead eyes, but wave at you when they stop to let you cross the road.
The redback spiders tend to bite only if you sit on them, which is not unreasonable.
They have buses and trams, and you can buy lardy cake from a baker's shop and bottles of big red wine fom a wine merchant.
You can only use a hose on your garden in the early morning or the evening on 3 days a week, but they do have summer there right now.
The most dangerous thing is that my beloved is going to a test match.
Oh, and koalas are smelly.
