Missed this thread.. wanted to clarify a few things -
Bobbits - This is an Ultima Race (ultima 1-3)
Bobbits were a short race from the time of Sosaria long ago. They grew only about four feet in height, but were wise beyond most other mortals. After the great cataclysm the bobbit race dissappeared.
Dwarves This is an Ultima Race (Ultima 1-3, Ultima Underworld 1,2)
Thought to have been annihilated in the cataclysm after The Third Age of Darkness, the race of short stocky are thought to no longer exist. When Sir Cabirus decided to create the underground city in the The Stygian Abyss, the Mountain Folk, who it seems that carved out the majority of the caverns in the abyss, answered his call. The last clan of Mountain Folk came to join the settlers. Due to their small size, and natural ability to discern their way underground, they were very helpful to the settlers. Mountain Folk are often called dwarves because they are so short, though they detest this name.
Elves - This is an Ultima Race (ultima 1-3)
A long time ago during The Third Age of Darkness there existed a race known as the elves. They were a shorter race, who were powerful in magic and speed, but frail in structure
Fuzzies - this is an Ultima Race (ultima 1-3)
When the land was still called Sosaria there was a race of fast and very magical creatures known as fuzzies. Because of their size, they were not very strong, but they made exceptional mages. Since the cataclysm after The Avatar destroyed Exodus they have completely vanished.
Gargoyles - This is an Ultima Race (ultima 1-9, UO)
First used as monsters, then later as an intelligent race.
Meer & Juka THese are Ultima races
These 2 were supposed to be playable races for Ultima Online 2. When that fell through they were added to UO as "monster" races
Orcs - This is an Ultima Race (ultima 1-9, UO)
Phoda - This is an Ultima Race (Ultima odyssey)
Not much to say about them except think cute ratmen... I kinda think maybe the idea behind these guys was the Fuzzies...
Pixies - This is an Ultima Race (Ultima odyssey)
Not much to say here either except chick magnets...
in uo lore Mondain originally created them, minax later did same and made trolls, ogres, etc..)
Pirates - While not a race, as a type of character, very much part of Ultima from day one.
Undead NOT an ultima race.
These are fodder for players to hack up. HOWEVER.. I will admit on several occasions mages turned to liches have been part of Ultima lore...
Of all these races only 4 make sense.
#1 Orcs - Ok unless you've been living in a closet, think lord of the rings originally.NOT World of Warcraft. Ultima itself is around 30 years old.. Orcs were in Ultima way before Warcraft ever existed. (I favor these as a felucca only race, for various RP/PvP war reasons)
#2 Dwarves - OK OK Mountain folk. Of the other races they have been in Ultima longer than any of the others save Orcs. (though I'd say Gargoyles may tie). Simple fact is they eventually moved through the underworld into the Abyss. Guess what we have now .. the Abyss. Which all that stuff is unfinished and awaiting further expansion as time goes on...
#3 Meer - Originally meant to be a playable race. This one would be player friendly.
#4 Juka - Originally meant to be a playable race. Established as enemies of Britannians. Personally I think it would be interesting to see both Meer and Juka as playable. Enabling a system similar to order/chaos, except be Meer/Juka. With open warfare in Ilshenar.. perhaps allowing these two races to build houses there in certain areas like the thing with the gargoyles.
Ok, that's all I got...
