I see almost everyone is doing Fencing and a lot are doing Poisoning. Where can I find out more information as to why? What type of special moves are associated with the Fencing skills and what bonus to what attacks does having the Poisoning skill help? Also what's up with Focus? If you do not have this skill can you still do the attack?

Poisoning does not help any Ninjitsu abilities, people just like the skill. /php-bin/shared/images/icons/tongue.gif

One reason why Fencing is popular, I guess, is that the "ninja weapons" (those that require Ninjitsu to use the special attacks) belong to that weapon skill.
(the popularity of Poisoning also helps Fencing)

Focus is not a "necessary" skill, but it is a "useful" one (to me it seems like lots of people are addicted to it; personally, I don't think it is as important to a ninja as it is to other classes). You don't need it to be a ninja, but increased recovery rates could prove helpful in a lot of situations. (personally, I probably prefer Meditation for faster mana regain so that I can use more specials and/or have a lower intelligence on my character)

The reasons I took Fencing... many of the new Ninja weapons are Fencing weapons. Fencing weapons seem more suited to a Ninja.

Which leads into why I chose to take Poisoning... Many Fencing weapons have the Infectious Strike special move. Having Poisoning allows you to up the level of the poison by one. Also, having Poisoning reduces the amount of mana that Infectious Strike uses. Plus Poisoning seemed to fit the Ninja class as it is a classically "Assassin" type skill. Also with Poisoning I can poison my own weapons...

As for Focus, since I can't really fit it on my template, I make do with Lower Mana Cost and Mana Regeneration on armor/jewelery...

I chose Focus over poisoning, because of the stamina regen. While in llama or ozzy form ... I like to run alot. Since Siege Perilous is all feluccan ruleset, and recall is not allowed ... focus fits my playstyle.

That's quite valid and true... in a Felucca ruleset Stamina and Stamina regen becomes a real issue. I haven't tried my Ninja in PvP yet, but I'm sure it will be quite different...

assuming there are no further 'unforseen delays' i should get hold of UOSE in a few days time.
time to start planning my ninja /php-bin/shared/images/icons/smile.gif

what i am considering is the following:
110 ninjitsu
110 weapon(fencing most likely)
100 poisoning
100 hiding
90 med/focus
80 stealth
80 chivalry and
50 tacts

this character already has stats at 90 str and dex and 60 int.

what do you guys think about this?

120 swords
100 tactics
100 anatomy
80 medi
110 resist
110 chiv - to cure better - anyone in fel will hate DP
100 ninjitsu

was thinknig of using things like death strike and mirror image, maybe focus attack, combined with other special moves

what ya guys think? would mean I wouldn't need to use para to kill running targets

Im Considering Ninjutsi for my pvp character instead of poisining
Before I post my template I want to know if
1.Do I need hiding and stealth for smoke bombs or just ninjitsu
2.Does hiding/stealth affect Ki attack,Focus Attack,Death Strike
Heres my template
100 fencing
100 tactics
100 anatomy
100 healing
100 focus
100 resist spells
120 ninjutsi(20+) for being a vet

Oh and Some Advice for other people ALL DOOM BOSS MONSTERS AUTO REVEAL YOU BE FOR WARNED

To answer you question:

1. Smoke bomb, requires 50 ninjitsu to use. Once used, it does a hiding skill check. 50 hiding = 50% chance of hiding immediately, even in the heat of battle.
Higher the hiding skill ... the higher the chance to hide immediately using a smoke bomb.

2. Not to my knowledged. Those skill is like a weapon skill, it's based on your ninjitsu.

Poisoning > Ninjitsu
Poisoning + Ninjitsu > Poisoning alone

Try:
120 fencing [So you can attack a 120 wrestler]
120 ninjitsu [Drop ninjitsu to 100 if you plan on picking up poisoning]
100 anatomy
100 healing
100 hiding
80 stealth
80 focus; use 2 soulstones to switch this to 100 poisoning]

Substitue damage increase jewelry for not having tactics. This is a solid PvP template, if you plan to hunt with other players ... alone, you can easily get eliminated. Wear mana/stamina regen leather armor with high resist.

Hmmm... I had a template almost exactly like that on Test Pub 28, and I found it lacking in both PvM and PvP. For one thing, I was taking way too much damage, even though I was abusing the artis the Test Center gods had granted me. Maybe I am just seeing this because I lack Parry? Anyways, that wasn't my biggest issue. The numero uno problem was low damage. It took me forever to kill many things. I even had trouble fighting Earth Elles and Ettins! Another biggie was lack of mana, and even though I had 80 Focus and about 5 or 6 Mana Regen on me, the high mana costs of the ninja abilities overwhelmed me.

Maybe I am too used to old templates, and not applying the ninja's abilities as I should be? That must be it, because compared to my Pally or even my 90-ish Warrior, the Ninja was very disappointing.

I'm not trying to badmouth ninjas; what I'm looking for is what I'm doing wrong. And I know its something I am doing wrong because I see many people on this forum talk about TeH ninjaR's greatness!

I thought I might aswell post my template here:

Hiding: 100
Stealth: 100
Fencing: 100
Ninjitsu: 100
Anatomy: 100
Healing: 100
Focus: 100

Now I really would like to change focus out with tactics since I think assassins/ninjaes got a low damage. But then again I cant use faster med magic amour since its a roleplay character.

so should I stick to focus? or should I try tactics??

I didn't find any magery in these templates... I wanted to add Ninjitsu to my mage. How effective do you think this template would be?
120 Ninjitsu
100 Hiding
100 Stealth
100 Magery
100 Meditation
100 Eval Int
100 Fencing (mainly just for special moves)

100 str, 45 Dex, 100 Int (scrolled to 245 cap)

I'm still working the Ninjitsu, but the other skills were already in place, so I just felt adding Ninja to my mage would be a nice touch /php-bin/shared/images/icons/smile.gif
What do you guys think?

Must have: Ninjitsu; Hideing; Stealth.
pretty much need: Fencing; Tactics; Anatomy - as these are the ninjas primary weapons group.

We still need a way to heal, and a way to regain mana.
Where are we going to take from to "scroll out" any of these skills?

I'm getting kinda depreseed with my template options.

I was hoping to add some necro and scoot around in wraith form, stealthing.

But currently, I have a char with 110 healing and no anatomy, and that suks.
I have a necro with 120 fencing/120 tactics, and his damage with weapons suks.

I have never yet found any mana regen pieces with enough resists to make me have any "real" hope of a mana regen suit approaching 70's.

The logical choice is healing, to heal while hidden and not need mana to do so.
The logical choice is focus to regen both stamina and mana while stealthing around.
There is no room for both, or even really GM in either if you scroll more than one skill.

I "need" to scroll fencing to gain a "realistic" chance to hit those 120 wrestlers.

So I don't see any chance of haveing the 40 necro I need to stealth around in wraith form.

I'm not making my ninja to be an uber, one man killer. But instead, his intended use is as a part of an 8-10 man stealth death squad. It will probably realistically be a two ninja squad due to time differences with the people I play with.

While training fencing in the pits, I tried toggling back and forth into wolf form to see if that healed 20 hp. It didn't heal anything for me.

Will dog and cat forms make any real mana regen differennce for me? Currently I have 95 focus and 40 some odd med (which I always allow to happen on new chars so I have god mana regen for 8x8ing). I'm "bleeding" out med for the fencing/healing skills, and will soon start "bleeding" focus, so a test of these forms won't be real due to my current mana regen rates.

What I would like to do:
Ninjitsu GM
Hiding GM
Anat GM
Tactics GM
Healing GM
Fencing 120
Stealth GM
Focus GM
Necro 40
I know that's only 860 skill points, so it won't leave me many options /php-bin/shared/images/icons/tongue.gif

Im not following--860 skill pts? Max is 720 Real cap for a 5 year+ player. You aren't actually suggesting you can have all these skills at these levels, I assume?

I'm sure he means this is what he would like to have, for him to consider this a viable template

But …

If he was to just have …

Ninjitsu GM
Hiding GM
Anat GM
Healing GM
Fencing 120
Stealth 80
Focus 80
Necro 40

Then he has pretty much achieved his goal. Not having GM Tactics is not such a big deal if you can offset it through your play style.

This template is a little ‘normal’ for my liking, and I would loose the anatomy and healing and necro and focus… take up spirit speak and then look to some devious skills to top him off

We can all have Chiv or Necro or Magery etc, and I'm sure we all have one or more of these common templates. With ninjas, we have the chance to be very creative, so I would suggest you look around, and see how crazy and cunning you can be. Especially if you intend to be part of a Ninja hit squad … you can really go to town and specialise in one form of death dealing, while leaving your team mates to concentrate on other methods ….

Food for thought ….

Ok I've been through all the templates everyone has posted and I haven't seen anything like the freak I am building, so here it is:

120 Ninjitsu
100 Hiding
120 Stealth
80 Poisoning
100 Alchemy w/Alchemist's Bauble + 25% ring = 55% Enhance Potions
100 Spirit Speak
100 Fencing

100 Str 75 Dex 50 Int

I just need to finish my stealth up and I'll be done. I may try 20 tracking and see how it works, and if I like it take stealth only to 100. So far the template isn't too impressive against most high level monsters, especically anything that resists poison since that is my strong point. I haven't done much pvp with the char yet but the little I have done has been really fun. DP blowguns and smoke bombs are your friend, and wearing the proper resist suit I was able to spirit speak and pot through several mana dumps. Melee of course is another question, I just smoke bomb/hide and stealth away, blowgun dp and throw some Gexplodes and hide again. With my stats the way they are now mana is a little bit of a problem but my goal is to put together a decent resist suit with as much mana/stam regen as I can get. A stat scroll will help in that area though. I definitely need some more time to play with it but so far it is a super fun character! The more I play it the more I like it even with all the nerfs/lack of abilities.

I have some really nice items, so I'm going with...

Stealth 76 (120 with Shadow leggings, Burglar's Bandana, and ring)
Stealing 75 (120 with Leggings, Bandana, and bracelet)
Fencing 110
Tactics 98 (110 with Bracelet)
Anatomy 87 (100 With Ring)
Hiding 100
Ninjitsu 100
Magery 74

Yes, I have a ring with +14 Stealth and +13 Anat, plus a Bracelet with +15 Stealing and +12 Tactics. That's why I'm keeping them all on this tempalte. I dropped Magic Resist for Ninjitsu. Hopefully hiding/stealthing and Ninjitsu will make up for no Resist in PvP.

I had started my Ninja with archery but now I'm thinking that the extra weapon skill may be too costly. I also have fencing, which by the way I chose for no reason at all. BUt the infectous strike I read about in this thread sound good as I plan to poison my victims and run. But the archery I plan to drop as a Shuriken will have nearly the same effect as it can be poisoned. Which by the way someone can cure, but while they are curing you can always throw another Shuriken. The templates I see here are pretty much the same as mine. My question is, if I poison someone and run can I hide again or will I be stuck in combat? It sounds like I will be able to stealth again but it doesnt spell it out.

The things I miss in a nice Ninja template are mostly resisting spells and the fact that I cannot recall. My temp will possible be:
Ninjitsu: 100
Hiding: 80
Stealth; 80
Anatomy: 100
Tactics: 100
Swords: 100
Chivalry: 80
Focus: 80
That makes a 720 in total. With chiv I can heal (noe healing skill needed) and recall wit sacred journey. I still miss resist though, and I cannot upgrade to 120 swords what I would like to. Perhaps hiding could go down more?

Heres my current template / skills on char

I have 720pt limited (5 year account).

Fencing 100
Anatomy 100
ninjitsu 110 (110)
hiding 100
stealth 104.8(110)
poisoning (30) (100)
Healing 100 (100)

I was thinking about leaving everything at GM with stealth and ninja at 110.

Stats wise maybe:

85str
100dex
40int.
(definately be PS for more int and dex.)

The other option is of course the expensive one... drop poison and

120 fencing, anatomy, stealth, ninjitsu, healing,
Gm stealth
and maybe 20 tracking / maybe focus.

and stats wise 85str, 115dex. 50int

what you guys think of that template? I'm sure the bonuses will be far far far greater than having 5*gm 2*elder. I'm still jubious about poison, whether it's worth the time or effort. I might just take focus for the time being until I can start holstering those power scrolls, its easy gonna cost me 15mill. I'm totally debating whether it's going to be worth it for this class. As there could still be many game balancing issues that could pull the ninja class down... sure we will see in time. /php-bin/shared/images/icons/smile.gif.

100 healing
100 anatomy

Eeek... All I see is PvP templates and I am in desperate need
of help to set a template for PvM! Here is my idea... comment it.. PLEASE! /php-bin/shared/images/icons/wink.gif

120 Ninja
100 Hiding
100 Stealth
100 Fencing (mayyyybe 120 here as well)
100 Tactics

Ok, so far so good. But then what? I really like beeing able to heal
and ress my buddies out there so at first I thought 90 heal/90 anat.
But then I realized I would probably need focus or meditation?!?!
Adding the chiv skill would make me able to heal/res/travel but then I´d
need even more mana! So next idea was 100 chiv and 80 Focus.
But then again.. is chivalry and ninja companionable?

*pulls her hair.. whats left of it after these troubles..*

Help please /php-bin/shared/images/icons/laugh.gif

Ok, I have a ninja/thief, gm hiding and 84 stealth, had healing and dropped it. I never was able to use bandaids while hidden, they reveal me the second I use them. So now i rely on potions, which, by the way, reveal me also. All potions reveal me, but at least I don't waste any skill points to heal and cure.

Just thought I'd let all those who want to hide and heal know this.

Alright, I might have finally figured out what I'd feel satisfied with, so here goes:

100 Fencing
110 Ninjitsu
80 Tactics
80 Anatomy
100 Resist Magic
100 Hiding
80 Stealth
50 Focus

I might take out Resist altogether and put most of those points towards Tracking (if the thing about Tracking making Deathstrike more effective is true).

Why Fencing? Well for me I saw those claw-like Tekagi and I screamed "I must have those!". Me-ow.

I define the core of a true ninja templates as follows:
120 weapon skill
120 ninjitsu
100 hiding
100 stealth

That's 440 points. If you like, you can tweak this by up to 40 points if you just want 80 stealth and/or 100 weapon skill. (I got revealed by monsters A LOT more at 80 stealth than I do at 100. I think 120 weapon skill is a must for a warrior char.)

This base "core" skill set has 2 main problems
1.) It has no healing
2.) It has no mana/stamina regen

I think true ninja templates are defined by how they attempt to address these two problems with the remaining 280 skill points. (Assuming vet account with 720 skill point cap) In addition, many Ninjas would also like to fit in poisoning, resist, tracking, tactics, etc with these 280 points. You can omit mana/stamina regen to fit these in, but there is no getting around the need for healing. So... lets look at the 5 skills that can give you healing.

I. HEALING (Can heal, cure, res, and get 40% melee damage bonus)
100 healing
80 anatomy
60 med/focus*
40 open*
* Sub in poisoning, resist, tracking, tactics, etc

II. MAGERY** (Can heal, cure, res, mind blast, 8th lvl summons, etc)
100 magery
100 eval Int*
80 med/focus*
* If you are willing to give up damage from mage spells you can sub in poisoning, resist, tracking, tactics, etc

** You will want spell channel weapons
** You can gain 100 points by dropping your weapon skill from the "core" template and using a "mage weapon" with spell channel

III. Spirit Speak (Can heal thru poison; pick up necro! = many good spells plus curse weapon & vampire form also heal)
100 spirit speak
100 necro
80 focus/open***
*** Vampire form gives better mana/stam regen than 80 focus, so you can use vampire form and call these points open!!! Sub in poisoning, resist, tracking, tactics, etc

IV. Chivalry (Can heal, cure, res, get melee combat bonuses, etc)
80 chivalry
80 focus*
120 open*
* Sub in poisoning (see NOTE below), resist, tracking, tactics, etc
NOTE: I have to admit that this template gives a lot of flexablitiy, but IMO it is just WRONG to be a ninja paladin!!! /php-bin/shared/images/icons/smile.gif
NOTE: Poisoning a weapon will hurt karma and work against chiv, but you can use infectious strike with no karma loss if another char poisoned the weapon.

V Bushido? (Use confidence to gain stamina and health; throw in parry to make full use of Saurai abilites)
100 bushido
100 parry
80 focus*
* Sub in poisoning, resist, tracking, tactics, etc
Note: You will need to rely on poitions & orange petals to cure poison
Note: I havent tried it, but IF you can use confidence while stealthed this might be okay. (Mirror images combined with parry would make you very hard to hit...)

I just decided to modify one of my characters with Ninjitsu last night. What does everyone think of the template I came up with (after talking to some friends who have the skill):

110 Magery, Eval, Med, Resist
100 Hiding
90 Ninjitsu
80 Stealth

And 10 more points that I'm not completely sure what to do with. I'll probably go 115 Magery and Eval. I use Swords of Prosperity for defense chance. This character is mainly for Champion Spawns, both working them and taking pot shots at other guild's champs.

Isn't 90 Ninjitsu all you need for 100% with stealth teleport? Because that's why I chose 90 skill. I was also told that with 80 Stealth, wearing meddable armor and spell channeling equipment, I'd never fail a Stealth.

Stats will probably fall something along the lines of 110 str, 25 dex, 110 int.

This is my first attempt at a Ninja character. I have just started.

My projected template is the following -

110 Archery
100 Tactics
100 Anatomy
80 Healing
80 Focus
80 Ninjitsu
80 Stealth
90 Hiding

This is a total of 720 skill points, which is my cap, without relying on items. Of course, this projection is open to change. I had considered trying to fit in Tracking, from some of the information I've seen in this thread.

I would be curious to know what others think of the above template.

85necro +20 from bracers

80stealth
90ninjitsu
30med

my suit i made for this char is 85lrc 40lmc 7mr 61sdi the lrc will help cut down on the reg consumtion so i dont need to carry more then like 50 of each with me. the 90 ninjitsu is for a few things mostly smoke bombs, and llama for speed boost while im running around checking spawns then ill go in wraith form once i find one. despise spawns will be easy to greif and a lotta fun killin people and for harrowers 30-40 damage withers to 60-70 cold resist is insane. this would be an even better template if i can talk 3-4 of my friends to do it with me and insta kill anyone in a 5 tile radious before and smoke bomb out there. it would be like stealth archers but we would beable to take out more targets at a time.

Surely OSI wudnt have made a skill you HAVE to 8x8.
How can u gain NORMALY? im like 85, and all my gains are weak...and my ninja is sexy, but absolute rubbish. totally in training. Skills at the moment are:

Parrying 85==> 0?
Ninja 75====> 110/0?
Anat 75 ====> 100/0
Focus 80====>100?
Meditation 60=>100/0?

funny, that's almost exactly the set I'm aiming for, except I intend to work for 70 chilvery and than have thirty points in the skill of the day (mage, focus, spirit speak, track...the nice thing about low level skills is how fast they can be swaped)

Template:

Ninja: 115 (120 once I can afford a scroll)
Fencing: 115
Focus: 60
Meditation: 60
Magery: 80
Poisoning: 100
Hide: 100
Stealth: 85

Str: 80
Dex: 85
Int: 80

One note, my Ninja is an Assassin, thus the Poisoning. I just finished this template last night after months of work. Thus far its been pretty effective. I can spam mind blast/lighting to finish off if my special moves don't do the job right off the bat. I love DS cause people look at their current health and forget that another burst of damage is forthcoming in just another couple seconds. Team that up with a desperate attempt to cure Lethal Poison. I call it a "panic template" cause except for the seasoned veteran who's prepared for anything and has a cool head, most victims don't know what to fix first and usually try to run instead. Its not fool-proof, but it's pretty efficient on most unsuspecting victims.

It seems like all template got GM. How significant is GM effect? Anyone try using 8 skill set with only master level? i.e. 8 skills x 90 = 720 points.

Would it be better to work that way?

This is the template i worked out, i would like to receive some suggestions on how to adjust it given that i am a total noob with SE :) thanks:

STR 85
DEX 100
INT 40

with SOP +25

STR 90
DEX 110
INT 50

Skills
120 Fencing
100 Anatomy
100 Healing
80 Stealth
100 Hiding
120 Ninjitsu
80 Tactics

Yeah this template really need some correction and i hope some of you can help me out... It needs corrections for a main reason: there is no way to regenerate neither mana neither Stamina, i was thinking about a Mana and Stamina regeneration leather suit. what's your opinion on this?
thanks in advance

*cross threaded from necro forums for some different oppinions*

thinking about this template for a necro assasin

110 fencing (+10 dreadpirate hat)
100 tactics
100 anatomy
100 ninjitsu
100 hiding
60 stealth (+20 shadow dancers)
85 necro (+20 midnight bracers) (can i stealth reliably in these with 80?)
100 SS
15 detect hidden

stats:

100 str
77 dex (+8 from dp hat +15 jackels gives me 100, more than enough for 1.25 swings with short spear)
73 int (+8 stormgrip +10 mana from runebeetle carapace, 91 mana)

hopefully get a few extra points from jewels so i can bump up detect a bit...

prolly use a short spear for mortal and shadow strike (looks like smoke bombs are gonna take a beating with the nerf stick soon) + they uber fast saving me some points for int. maybe even titan leg bone or similar for hit lower def and hit lightning.

mostly be going around in wraith form for mana leech (can i wolf out of wraith form?)

prolly open up with death strike and blood oath followed by mortal then stack up the death strikes.

curse wep if im in trouble, or shadow strike and wolf form if it all goes to hell!

strangle if they go to run then wolf form and hunt em down

artied up to the max there quite litteraly lol, but i have most of those allready...

gonna try and hunt me some stealth archers what yall think?

never played a necro-ninja before so this could be real craptastic, comments plz!

i was thinking of trying this one...
ninjitsu 100
hiding 100
archery 100
anatomy 100
resist 100
healing 100
stealth 100

i have a +30 set ninja jewels i can use and put 20.1 into tracking and other 9.9 into healing or archery or anatomy.
stat will be something like 90 str/100 dex/50 int
