this is not a booster. nor an expansion. stygian abyss and high seas were.
This thing is the same price as high seas? really?

I don't mind paying for extra content...but the content needs to be there. Players have been asking for this for this type of content now when it rolls around no one wants to buy it. I wasn't asking for but I've seen many posts over the years from players asking for it.

I'm not a fan of paying for boosters but I'll play along if it means it will keep this great game alive.

I'm not going to be buying these two booster theme packs. What I would pay for:

1) First and foremost for are a high resolution upgrade.
2) Weapons Booster - Flail and other weapons that should be in the game
3) Custom Castle/Keep - Customize Castles and allow placement anywhere in UO where it fits (Malas, Ishlenar, t2a)
4) Orc Booster
5) Dwarf Booster

Rustic themes just don't do it for me and I find it hard to grasp some of the time and energy the UO Dev team is spending time and focusing on.

Overall since I've returned 3 years ago there have been MANY great changes that have made the game better.

I am not a fan of the Maginica stuff. The fact they destroyed it and now it has to be rebuilt really is a waste of the Devs resources imo. Instead of having Magincia been destroyed they should have proped up another island or spot that could have been used to introduce the Baazar content.

Anyways...Hurry up with those EC graphic upgrades.

I have a hard time believeing that 41% will not buy expansions to keep enjoying the game. Why would you even play if you are not gong to be up to date?

Nothing in these packs will make you "out of date" since they barely contain anything. The only activity you won't be able to engage in is the half-done (and half-assed) distillery.

I think alot of folks woof it just to complain. These folks would not be happy if you handed them the best house, spot, house tiles, and items in the game. They would ALWAYS complain about something but claim to continue to play.

People are complaining about the Dev team and these packs because the work is shoddy and incomplete at best. They appear to have NO professional pride in their work and the game suffers for it.

We love UO, but we're tired of blindly accepting third-rate work.

So much for truth in job advertising. "Quality" out of EA is an oxymoron. I feel bad for BioWare...at least Mass Effect 3 will ship before EA crushes their will and creativity entirely.

All you have to do is go to the big shards and take a look at how many vendor stalls are up or even have bids on them, not many. You would think that there would be more stalls set up if that many people bought the booster. Go to UO.com and see what is being shown for sell, SA, High Seas and Smuggler's Edge. Sorry don't think as many people have bought this as you would like.

I chose that I don't purchase expansions, but that isn't really the case. The problem is that EA has sort of decided that we now need to pay for all new content, and well....WE ALREADY PAY FOR ALL THE NEW CONTENT TO BE DEVELOPED. I have no problem with EA wanting to sell these theme packs (high seas and the new ones) IF they decide to go free to play, but as long as they still require a monthly fee and then start demanding we pay for content we already paid for they are on a slippery slope which might just end up with a mass exodus from the game.

I have no idea why they thought that stupid "throw bottles at each other and vomit" thing was interesting to anyone. If that were patched in for free it would be amusing for about 3 minutes.

I purchased the rustic and gothic pack and to be honest, Iam a bit disapointed. I dont mind paying $15 for an upgrade pack, I hope it supports this great game but to be honest the content over all isnt what I hoped for.
Now I wouldnt complain one bit if they added 20% storage to bank and house with this upgrade.

Heres a break down of how I feel about the individual items...

The Raised Bed is Awsome! Top notch item!

Chest of Sending is a Good item. I have used it twice so far to send heavy stacks of gold to the bank.

Statues are two decent deco items but wish you could turn them 4 directions to make a great hallway; otherwise only east and south.

Ritual Table is nice artwork craftable

Training dummy is a let down. No one can place it or train on it unless they have the upgrade pack.

Wall tiles are let down. I own a castle. Would have been cool to have a vendor that sold individual tiles to people with the upgrade kinda like the carpet vendor.

Rustic Bench and topiary are ugly but might grow on me, not holding my breath..

Distillery is a waist of time and wish the different drinks were usefull. Like better chance to get ancient SOS or spawn Scalis or something!

Encampments - Im still not sure about it especially with low server population; however, I understand that people cant buy from the brokers unless they have the pack. You cant sell your goods unless people buy the upgrade pack! Thats bad news! My vote is still for the ingame search engine!

Like I said 20% storage would help people feel better about this whole thing. Funny thing is High Seas came with extra storage and it actually had quite a bit of content compared to this new pack. My 2 cents.

last resonable bug fix attempt was 24th march and it was magic reflect which wasnt fixed just altered so it favored blues another failure.

By the end of the year there will be moaning for more house lockdowns at this rate. Its just not good enough items are not what this game needs more vendors are not needed with exception to the pet selling vendor which is a neat idea.

Its about time major ingame systems were fixed or updated instead of adding more junk.

Bug fixes are maintenance, which is supposed to be covered by our monthly fees. They want boosters, mini-boosters, expansion packs, etc. so they earn additional revenue on top of the monthly fees.

imo the booster pack should have contained more high seas / sa goodies and by goodies i mean opening up a new area in the abyss or a new plot hell even the quest with the new shields could have been saved for this booster pack.

Or how about getting the virtue system finished??

Have high hope on the 2 theme pack but was very disappointed. I think EA know that no matter how screw up they are most of you will still pay to stay in the game. NOT ME i going quit the game. Good luck y'all

I would like to think that this is going to be the last booster pack for a while and they are going to focus on the graphics, bug fixes (including EC), new player experience, and the Ter Mur stuff. They told us they don't have the resources to do several things at once, and while I'm sure EA has them on a tight leash as far as revenues, I hope they can now free up the resources to focus on the bigger things.

If they turn around and start on a new booster/theme pack without finishing the graphics updates or taking care of a lot more bugs and bringing the EC up to speed, it would give me a really bad feeling about the direction of UO.

The good news is, somebody in BioWare cares about Ultima and somebody in BioWare is trying to grow Camelot's playerbase once again, with a new user overhaul similar to what UO is getting, which means some executive wants both to grow the MMO playerbases in BioWare.

Like somebody else said, hopefully this theme stuff was already on the drawing board when the direction of UO changed earlier this year and they are just doing this to clear some things out.

I need to change my vote.
I clicked on "eventually" because I was dirt broke at the time.
Then suddenly the rain went away and I was able to go back to work and make some $$ so I now have the packs. Rustic for both accts and gothic for one. I did the grand whatever it's called deal for the one acct then realized to my horror after that my crafter was on the other acct. That's why I have rustic for both. (Doh!)

All in all I'm ok with the rustic pack. The still is cool. The garden bed is nice.
I could have lived without the gothic pack. The advanced training dummy looks way nicer than the old school one but I can train to 60 in any combat skill much faster in the woods. I don't see much use for the chest of sending unless I one day decide to pack up my tower and move on to other pastures.

Quick Question: Does the chest of sending allow you to send stuff to your bank if it is full?

Someone on test center said they got a "Your bank box is full" message when using the chest so I would think you need to have room in your bank box or the item will not be sent to it.
