Weird Results Cutting Up Cloth Items

Can some folks please try cutting up crafted cloth items to see if you're also running into problems with it taking multiple tries to cut them using scissors or a salvage bag? We're experimenting with this on Siege and can't find any rhyme or reason for the weird results. We're not sure if something was implemented to randomize the results or what.

We've only tried cutting up skull caps and floppy hats, jester suits and cloaks so far. But if my 120 tailor tries to cut up something made by a low-level tailor (20 something), it is taking multiple tries (6 tries to cut up a floppy hat??) and the returned cloth amount seems off somehow. Jester suit takes 24 cloth and returns 1. Cloak takes 16 and returns 3.

Can a few more people give this a try? Also, try trading items between chars and see if you have issues cutting up stuff someone else made. Something seems really screwed up. When I cut up stuff with my own char (whether it's one with 0 tailoring skill or one with 120 skill), the item is always cut up on the first try. But definitely having issues cutting up stuff someone else crafted, even when the char doing the cutting has 120 tailoring.

Not sure when it first started, maybe a year or more.
I've noticed when using a salvage bag on tailor or blacksmith goods, some will quietly fail and not salvage. Salvaging again usually does the rest, sometimes takes 3 tries.
I think salvaging store bought items always returns 1.

None of the items that were cut up with scissors were purchased from an NPC. They were freshly sewn by a low-level tailor and then traded to a 120 tailor char. I'd like to know why it took the legendary tailor SIX tries to cut up a rank amateur's attempt at making a hat?! (*Just teasing ya, Dog.*)

Yes, I have noticed this same issue with my level 120 tailor. As far as I can tell though, the amount of cloth yielded from a 6-try cut-up is the same as a first-try cut-up.

I noticed it on Atlanta, Napa and Origin in the last few weeks that the amount of cloth returned was off alot. Leather was giving so low a return it was more viable to sel it then try to salvage it. This was with both plain scissors and the Salvage bag. Ingots for a very long time now have been off, if I use the Salvage bag. Also noticed even when I am lite and bag is not so full it wont do all in the bag when you press the menu for All. My Smith is also tailor and GM miner ao ingot return should be at max.

I haven't noticed this with my 120 tailor on Siege, but I will test it out tonight.

Are you using CC or EC? I am using EC - so if you are using CC, it might/might not show up in EC. But I will report my results back here so we'll know.

I was using the classic client and most of the wacky results happened when using scissors to cut up items, however what got Lorddog and me going with checking stuff in the first place was that he couldn't get the salvage bag to cut up hats he'd made with Penny (who just took up tailoring). So then he tried cutting them with scissors and then handing them to my unskilled char and then we moved on to my legendary tailor. Just weird results all around that sure make it look like some randomization has been introduced into the process of cutting up stuff.

I suspect maybe this has something to do with how people got the colored cloth last year as part of the Halloween activities, but don't know if the weird results have been around since then or are a recent addition. I didn't do anything last year to try to get the Halloween cloth, so I really don't know what's involved with that and whether or not this current weirdness with cutting up cloth is going to affect being able to do it this year if the same event is rolled out.

In the 8+ years I've played, I've ALWAYS had issues with trying to recycle hats.

Either they wouldn't cut up at all, or returned the wrong amount of cloth.
