I think the event sucked. Nothing fun about running one tile every 30 seconds, never knowing if you're coming back to a grey screen.
That's an issue with events like this. Unfortunately, in ANY game, you get too many people in one area at once, and it's a lag fest. I haven't played a game yet where that wasn't true.
What they DID do here on GL that I hadn't heard of elsewhere, was have the Shadowlords assault both Luna AND Skara in order to reduce the overall load -- unfortunately, even Skara was a lag fest because of the sheer number of people wanting to participate.
I don't see this as a failure though. Annoying, yes. I blew through about 120,000 gold over the course of the Luna events in insurance money alone (it's the new gold sink... heh), and probably said my fair share of curse words directed at EA, Mythic, and the game. Heat of the moment. In hindsight, it's nice that something like this DOES still attract a crowd.
I think the EMs went about handing the robes out poorly. I know many people who had nothing to do with the event but still managed to get 2 robes for each of their 5 accounts.
No you don't. They banned the people, which means they got one per character per account. Now, if they ejected themselves before they could be banned, shame on them for exploiting the system. But don't blame the EMs for this. They did the absolute best they could -- and yeah, it sucked watching people line jump, cast, and be jerks... but the EMs did the ABSOLUTE best they could given the circumstances.
Should Mythic have handled it differently? Yeah. There's code that exists somewhere that would allow them to put an object in game where you double-click, get your item, and it's one per account. They use it on the Japanese shards for things like the wooden cow. So why it's such an issue for using in things like this is beyond me. But that is a fault of Mythic and the Dev Team, NOT the EMs.
And frankly, it's nice to see Mythic supporting in-game fiction and events, so I'm willing to forgive them a few hiccups here and there, even if I'm frustrated at the moment it happens.
It shouldn't be up to EMs, it should have been a looting rights thing.
Looting rights, in that mess? Yeah... err... interesting choice of decision you make there. Still, yes, I agree, a different mechanic should have been used. This does not, in and of itself, reflect poorly on the EMs.
