I will say again, if showing disappointment based on the expectation built up with their screenshot character in full dyed suit is greedy then yes I am so #%@*&* greedy.
This.lol
Not by much. They could've at least let us dye one suit.
I'm not ungrateful. I am disappointed.
It's a game. We all pay our monthly fees for it to be updated. To say "they didn't have to give us anything" is kinda inaccurate. This game should be updated far more regularly than it is. We don't even get expansions anymore.
Least they could have done was given us 5 charges on some non-renewable resource.
Maybe to encourage xshard sales? ;P
To OP, thanks for heads up.
I doubt anyone saw that and could possibly anticipate a single-use.In earnest appreciation for your continuous support through the last few weeks we would like to offer a gift of compassion to all our players.
Now you are just making up reasons to **** me off, why are you trolling meI will say again, if showing disappointment based on the expectation built up with their screenshot character in full dyed suit is greedy then yes I am so #%@*&* greedy.
not greedy, gullible. like the people that got ocean front property in magincia, Arizona.
maybe it dyes everything you have on when you dbl click it?

Baa Baaa. Its great. I love it. Baa Baaa.

This!lets be fair they had no obligation to give us anything at all, the fact they are giving us 1 per shard also means lots of nice swapping and player interaction!
lets be grateful we got something
Not This.This!
As would, I think, many of the people who laid awake at night wondering what was going to happen next when all of a sudden they were seeing double billings for their subscriptions, increased charges because of previously ignored or erroneously applied taxes, bank overdraft charges, and negative credit history reports. I also think the people who had to take hours away from work or other responsibilities to make phone calls or do online chats to figure out what was going on with their accounts would also prefer something more meaningful.
."
sorry, I'm actually on your side. 'their' picture shows not only a full clothing set, Plus more dyed, giving the illusion it'd be more than 1 use (i figured it'd be Way more than that as well). Now you are just making up reasons to **** me off, why are you trolling me
Please learn to quote properly and not include the whole quite chain.
*Bingo* Exactly, this is all EA had to do. It sure would of ment a lot more to many of us. It's what I have to do when an employee of mine screws up on an account. The 1 chg dye was a total joke & insult to all that have had severe migration problems, minor pacification at best to. Just correct all the dbl billing mistakes, recredit CC's & to people who have not been able to log in give them some sort of game credit. But a 1 chg dye, lol, gimme a break we are not 6 yr old kids. Ya make a huge mistake like what was done here, you admit your mistake, take corrective actions & fix the situation. Not toss a piece of candy to make you forget about it...The 1-use dyes remind me of the half-hearted apology your kids or grandkids sometimes make when you demand that they apologize for smacking a sibling.
I hate to sound ungrateful, but I would have much preferred to receive a well-written letter from an EA executive acknowledging there were problems with the account migration and promising to (1) learn from the mistakes, (2) make sure they don't continue to happen, and (3) do a much better job in the future communicating with customers early and often regarding important changes in service and/or systems.
For all intents and purposes and as Promathia brought up elsewhere, this "gift" seems to be nothing more than a sample bottle that EA will use to coax us into spending more money later when they put these dye colors up for sale at the game code store. Or perhaps it is someone on the dev team's thinly disguised attempt at irritating even more players into quitting. If it is the latter, it's probably going to be pretty darn successful because many players who struggled through the account migration process are just looking for one last reason to give up and walk away. This slap in the face will be the straw that breaks the backs of many camels.
EA really should have had someone use the time that was spent programming this patch/publish instead writing and getting approval to publish a sincere letter of apology.
AgreeAbsolutely Worthless. They should of done one per character per shard, or done more charges.
Well said. Articulate, thoughtful, and right on the money! There is, indeed, undeniably too much "gimme gimme" and plain-old greed and not enough gratitude in this game.
However, complaining about the single-use dyes is not a good example of this particular phenomenon. Such complaints actually make a lot of sense to me and are surely not unjust complaints and are totally understandable. I felt slightly stung when I saw they were single-use. 10 uses I'd been prepared for; single-use didn't even occur to me. (The single use, some have speculated, might be a bug....I sure hope so and I talk about that briefly later in this post.)
Especially so if they end up selling greater use dyes on the UO site as some have speculated. And especially given the stated intent of the dyes. What follows is an actual quote from the announcement:
I doubt anyone saw that and could possibly anticipate a single-use.
If intended, more on that in a moment, then the single-use dye is actually an example of another strange phenomenon in UO, quite different from greed and "gimme gimme." Said phenomenon is "step up, step back."
However, someone floated the notion that the single-use was a bug and, I have to say, I thought that too, and I'd surely want it to be true. In fact, after the sting, the first thing I thought was "that doesn't seem right. I bet that's a bug."
A mere 10 uses, followed by selling them for 50 uses on the UO site, would have been much better all around. Better in terms of gratitude and "Compassion," better in terms of utility (enough to do a whole suit of armor and a weapon or two) and surely better advertising for the paid version of the product.

One nice point was selling them to cash man on Cats for 1.5 mil each, which adds up if you've done x-server trading.1 Use dye??
Really?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
What's the point?
You get the dye on the first character you log in with.

No good deed goes unpunished.Thats the problem around here , no matter what they do its never good enough.
As a recent member of this forum, but a long time player, I would like add my voice. I began playing UO on my son's acct in "97. I "thank" him for my addiction! I have thoroughly enjoyed playing this game, and while at times, life's events have drawn me away, I kept my account active in hopes of one day rejoining. This happened in May of this year. Lots of changes and lots of catching up to do.No good deed goes unpunished.
As others have said, I'd've loved to have gotten more than one use, but I will take my one use (whatever color it ends up being; I can't wait 'til I get home to see!) and make the most of it, and enjoy it.
Really bro? I disagreed with your post but it was your opinion... but now you feel you can tell us we shouldn't be upset because "well you didn't die in a random plane crash."Fifth off, I just watched the tribute to the 43 KHL hockey players that died in a plane crash. You should be thankful you can complain about a dye charge.
That was a ridiculous analogy as no clear thinking rational person would ever equate the two. If you will look under his name I think you will find a more than adequate explanation.Really bro? I disagreed with your post but it was your opinion... but now you feel you can tell us we shouldn't be upset because "well you didn't die in a random plane crash."
Absolutely ridiculous, I hope you have NEVER complained about ANYTHING in your life. Compared to that child laborer in Africa or the women who was kidnapped to be a sex slave your life has been peaches and cream. Maybe I should compare you to some diamond mine workers in Africa. How about the little girl who died a slow painful death from cancer? I sincerely hope you have never complained about anything.
Nonsense??????Get back on topic or this one is closed too... Knock off the nonsense. This is a game.
The story of UO players, or at least the ones on stratics, lol.Thats the problem around here , no matter what they do its never good enough.
I can't be sure, but I'm pretty sure that's not the "nonsense" that's being referred to.The feelings of 100's of players feeling as if they just got a huge lump of coal for their years of loyal service and having to put up with all the instability and crazy taxing and other losses of gametime and in-game goods time and effort wasted on reverts and such things is NONSENSE???
