i think the warning he mentioned in the OP was that if you were only getting 1 dye per acct, but since thats not the case
1 use on the dye is bad form

I'd have preferred either an apology, from the person responsible for the problems. Better still some prior warning that there would be new taxes going on and a proper explanation of how they would be applied.
I'm not surprised a lot of folk are disgruntled about the dye charges, after all, given the size of the announcement and the dyed suits, many players thought there would be a fair few charges in the pot. This is one of those cases where they should have said "1 charge only" up front, or considered more charges. Or include them in the clean up rewards list. Don't put images of a dyed suit up if you're only giving accounts enough to dye 1 item
I was kinda surprised about the 1 charge, but I'm not a big dyer of stuff anyway so it's just going to be another historical decor item for the collection lol.

And as well hey it supports Xshard interaction and trading... Why yes it does..... and it also supports the growing disgust as folk are scammed 1 after another, over and over again.
Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside after someone cheats and scams you don't it?

Only breeds more distrust in fellow players... brings less and less communication and even less community.
So what has this done for us?... made a vast majority of the players upset, angry, disgusted and disappointed.... Oh.... and it made the scammers more gold. I'm sure this is what the DEV's had in mind... isn't it?
It's interesting that when EA made the announcement about the dyes on the UO Japan site on September 5th (ƒjƒ…[ƒXÚ×), the announcement stated the dyes would be like the Tokuno Dyes and only dye artifacts and items made of special materials. Then another two announcements (ƒjƒ…[ƒXÚ× and ƒjƒ…[ƒXÚ×) were made on September 9th that indicated the Japanese shards would receive their publish on the morning of September 10th. Both announcements reiterated the requirements for receiving the dyes and also mentioned that the dyes had one charge and the color would be random. One of the announcements also mentioned that until shards had received the publish, there might be restrictions on character transfers.
So 1 charge per dye was intentional and not a bug. Sheep are not bugs. Baa Baa.
The Japanese are fortunate to have such a good DEV team that they are well informed and often given very nice things...
However that does me no good at all .. I can't read Japanese.
It's too bad our own team isn't that forthcoming. And whats sadder yet... our own team are the ones that are pretty much the ones in charge. Speaks volumes doesn't it?
The asian shards dont have thier own Dev team, what they do have however is a modern law system that protects consumers and thier rights of expectation of an online gaming experiance (Hence why they always seem to have better stuff, more staff and generally a better gaming experiance than we do.). They have more gaming staff, but not dev's. Not sure what you would call them... Oh yeah thats right, they have proper Games Masters that are dedicated to UO.
Hopefully the laws that EA comes under are updated and modernised sooner rather than later (And maybe, just maybe it might stop EA thinking that shareholders are more important than customers).

As Wenchkin said, seeing the colors used in the promo shots on entire suits made it an EASY expectation that the dyes would have a decent number of charges to e useful even if you got a random color.
Unless the dev team WANTED the dyes to become a new "rares market" item, supporting a small group of players (including scammers) from the start, it was quite a mistake to have made them 1 charge only.
I can only hope these are effectively "preview" offerings and that they will be further available through the Clean Up system.

4 new limited colors. Kinda makes em rare. Uo community loves them some rares amiright?

They are selling on average 2mil apeice from what I've seen.
Now for those with X number of accounts times 1 character per shard, gold is adding up quickly. I'm lookin at you 3+ account people
For me at least with 1 account and 1 alt character on 6 different shards which included my main shard, I was able to cross-server with others (who's shard my alt was on was their main shard while their alt was on my main shard) to get a total of 6 dyes.
Now just at current value 6 x 2 million gold = 12 million gold
I'm guessing unless re-introduced, it's an investment like rl gold where over time the value will increase.
My modest 1 account got 12 mill as an "apology" from the dev team is the way I look at it. Possibly closer to 20 when the dyes become more scarce.
Just my way of feeling better about the situation.

I also took French whilst in full time education, but have studied some Japanese as it is a fascinating language. The writing system of Kanji, Hiragana and Katakana makes it more difficult for the anglophile to learn than any of the romance languages but, with study, it is a useful tool on this planet as Japan is the world's third biggest economy.

I guess I got lucky, I did a lot of x shard trading with them and wasn't scammed once. Oh course I mostly did it with people who could duel client and we traded at the same time, but I trusted a few people and was very happy to find that their are still honorable, upstanding people playing. I am sorry for whoever got scammed, I think the entire way it was done was foolish, but I had fun meeting new people and finding out that not everyone is a scumbag. The other thing is you can't be pressured into doing something, I am used to this from diablo2, I would never ID my drops and in trades they would always say ID it or no trade.. well then no trade. 9 out of 10 times they would trade anyways, but I wasn't going to loose the value on my items to satisfy their curiostity. Same deal now, if it doesn't seem to be good then don't do it! It's just pixels but no one likes to be ripped off by some punk.

One dye per account, one charge per dye and you can't pick the color you'd like best? Sure seems like I'd have to go to a lot of effort just to be able to put a single outfit together.
