Thanks for the head's up. It wouldn't have hurt them or been that much more trouble to give us 5 charges on the dye bottle. At least that way a standard suit could be matched. I'm going to wait on logging in and hope that it was a slight goof and they'll fix it.
lets be fair they had no obligation to give us anything at all, the fact they are giving us 1 per shard also means lots of nice swapping and player interaction!

Its better then nothing. And if you got characters on other shard you can trade them for the color on your own shard.
And for those who don't like the 1 charge dye. I glady have my mailboxes open on Drachenfels to accept your donations.

Not by much. They could've at least let us dye one suit.
I'm not ungrateful. I am disappointed.
It's a game. We all pay our monthly fees for it to be updated. To say "they didn't have to give us anything" is kinda inaccurate. This game should be updated far more regularly than it is. We don't even get expansions anymore.
Least they could have done was given us 5 charges on some non-renewable resource.
Grateful? After this account migration? When a simple "Please update your email address on all your accounts." a week before would have gone a long way?
It's like giving a 5 year old a black eye and telling him to be grateful you didn't break his arm. It isn't players who should be grateful. It should be EA for whatever players they have left after this snafu.
Please deposit $15 for each account you let go inactive during to this migration so you can get your 1 charge of 1 random dye per server per account. TY come again.

Sorry I don't have the time to xshard 1 charge at a time to get enough charges for 1 color.
Hell, soulstone frag has 5 charges! and it was an gift too.
for you to label people who find 1 charge dye to be disappointing as greedy is unfounded.
They posted pics with character with full dyed suits! The expectation was there with those pictures. What! we can not be disappointed now WTF.
The 1-use dyes remind me of the half-hearted apology your kids or grandkids sometimes make when you demand that they apologize for smacking a sibling.
I hate to sound ungrateful, but I would have much preferred to receive a well-written letter from an EA executive acknowledging there were problems with the account migration and promising to (1) learn from the mistakes, (2) make sure they don't continue to happen, and (3) do a much better job in the future communicating with customers early and often regarding important changes in service and/or systems.
For all intents and purposes and as Promathia brought up elsewhere, this "gift" seems to be nothing more than a sample bottle that EA will use to coax us into spending more money later when they put these dye colors up for sale at the game code store. Or perhaps it is someone on the dev team's thinly disguised attempt at irritating even more players into quitting. If it is the latter, it's probably going to be pretty darn successful because many players who struggled through the account migration process are just looking for one last reason to give up and walk away. This slap in the face will be the straw that breaks the backs of many camels.
EA really should have had someone use the time that was spent programming this patch/publish instead writing and getting approval to publish a sincere letter of apology.

if people quite over this gift.. well they obviously were just looking for an excuse ... to me.. I love UO I don't drone on and on about "if they don't do XYZ then I am going to quite" whats the point if you want to quite then quite. Don't make a big Scene because lets face it... EA don't care!
I play UO because i enjoy the game... and like almost all Online games and some offline games it has issues.. but when you compare to how much time everything works fine enough to play to when it doesn't you loose what 10-20 days a year maybe at most?? Yes I fully admit one is not enough... it logically isn't enough. People would still complain that five is too low... but at least you could dye most of a suit with one bottle meaning the *not enough* argument would have a legit counter point.

More like another smoke screen to divert people's attention from the still issue plagued account migration.
As I have in my second reply, I do not xshard and I believe I am not alone when I say that I would rather spend my time doing something else.
Should they force me to have to xshard? Do I have to xshard? I would just like them to show a little consideration. I have shown plenty of considerations and tolerated on most of their BS and I can't voice my view once in awhile?
I wouldn't call the dyes a "gift." They are more like a feeble attempt to buy our silence. EA is a public company. Apparently they don't have the guts to make a public admission to their customers that they screwed up a vital accounting system, possibly because it could affect the value of their stock. Instead, they are using things like the dye to distract people and keep them from standing back and asking if they really want to continue to do business with the company. The fact that they are using pixels that cost them nothing to give us instead of doing something like sending out a sincere letter of apology and perhaps providing a coupon or code for a discount on a future purchase from the Origin store shows just how dumb and pixel-crack-addicted they think we, their customers, really are.
EA doesn't respect its customers. It's obvious in everything they do. I really think the big wigs at the top clear on down to the people who program games like UO believe that the majority of their customers will take all kinds of abuse as long as they get their daily fix of game time and more new pixel goodies to collect.

As a new player, I would like to thank them for this.
I was frustrated, like a lot of folks, with the way the migration went down (specifically the purchased upgrade codes), but this makes up for it imo.

In my opinion nothing would have been better. In fact... I'd prefer Tina Smalls preference... an official letter from EA apologizing.
The only time we are ever dissapointed is when our expectations are not met.
Based on the past pigments, there were 50 uses on the original ToT pigments, then 10 uses on the "earthen" ones, and finally single uses on the last round of ToT dyes, they were all farmable, so you could gather enough for a suit or two.

As would, I think, many of the people who laid awake at night wondering what was going to happen next when all of a sudden they were seeing double billings for their subscriptions, increased charges because of previously ignored or erroneously applied taxes, bank overdraft charges, and negative credit history reports. I also think the people who had to take hours away from work or other responsibilities to make phone calls or do online chats to figure out what was going on with their accounts would also prefer something more meaningful.
A sincere written apology from a high level executive is what this situation demands. Acting like everything will all blow over if they just lay low and say next to nothing and try to placate us with sample bottles of pixel dye is very insulting. And it's a fallacy to say that this is just the dev team's way of apologizing for a mess they had no control over. They are part and parcel of EA and don't operate in a vacuum. As we've heard before, all their announcements get approved by someone high up the food chain. This gesture wasn't hatched and carried out without the blessing of someone up the ladder--someone who should have instead had the guts to come right out and say, "We screwed up. We're sorry. We WILL learn from this. We WILL make it right for you, our valued customers. We WILL spend real money and time to do what it takes to make you and your families and friends want to spend money on our products and services in the future."

1 charge per shard per account = somewhat rarity = decent value to the right person. They probably wanted players to be able to sell it if they wanted. Not to mention the hunt for the fully dyed gear might be entertaining.
Also, i'm not sure about the rest of you, but i wouldn't use the colors if everyone in the entire game was running around fully dyed out in these new colors. Could you imagine a 50 charge per shard per account?

You are kidding right? Since when did the high up exec's ever care about thier customers? The form of corporate lock down that EA prowls over is proof that EA have no idea about the customer base, what they actually want and how to calm everyone down. If they apologised then they would actually be admitting that they are at fault.. and heaven forbid that is might effect thier share prices (I would have thought lack of customers would have more effect). I mean lets face it, EA gets it wrong so many times... They should remember that the paying customer is what keeps the fat cat CEO behind his desk (I just remembered... EA is the form of Corporation that listens to its shareholders and does what they want rather than whats right... bit like govenment, clueless in the real world)

Back to the OP though, I like the new colours and I'm pleased that its only a one hit wonder. It makes it a nice rarish hue that cant be farned or overused. Thank you
[EDIT] I just want it known that while I dislike EA completely (I dont agree with its games, pratices or corporate view) I do-not tar Mythic/Bioware with the same brush. They were bought by EA and have to suffer as much as we do. I'm sure if they were allowed to do what they wanted/needed to do things would be alot better for everyone involved (Especially customer service) but are constrained with the outdated terms and conditions that EA puts on them. I feel sorry for those having to work under EA but I am also pleased that Mythic have taken over the UO Mantle from the mishandling that EA has done to it since it aquired Origin.
As a thought Dev's, get Mythic moved to the UK where we have employment and trading laws that prevents and criminalises most of EA's pratices both with its staff and customer relations. We also have corporate transparancy and job security!

So, we get a dye, which is great, what isn't great is that they led us to believe that it would be enough to 'deck' out a whole suit with the pictures they posted and we get 1 charge! If they had explained before hand that it would be just 1 charge then I believe that people wouldn't be complaining so much. Also, we didn't even get to choose the colour?! That's a bit unfair
Nothing is free, everything comes at a cost. If you think the dyes are free then you are just fooling yourself.
I will say again, if showing disappointment based on the expectation built up with their screenshot character in full dyed suit is greedy then yes I am so #%@*&* greedy.
I am not even asking a huge bump, just 5 charges so mixing and matching colors can get 2 characters' set partially dyed.
They can take their dye and shove it where it don't shine at this point.
Well, I was being silly by saying xshard (because of the ongoing problems). Xtrading isn't too bad though for something like this, you get with someone who plays another shard, it takes a few minutes, and you both get some extra stuff. It's how I ended up with 100 reindeer one Christmas :/. lol
*shrug* I for one am perfectly fine with them being one shot dyes. The only change I would have made would have been a ability to choose what dye you want.
I like that they wont be a color we see every day on every other player like the white dye.
Makes it more special and memorable.

It feels like a damn time sink to go around xtrading the dyes and tracking down others to maybe dye a suit. Unbelievable. Feels like a slap in the face. I would have given everyone at least 50 charge dyes. Just tired of this crap.
