War horses and Vanguard controlers!

Now these controllers seem to have a shield like berserker demons. A super dragons takes em down pretty good but whats the best way through to their resists? With all the shadow eles around its tough to use a super dragon.

So whats your tactics for the controlers?

i dont see them having anything like the bezerkers, i enemy of one them and take em down fairly fast depending on if the surrounding spawn is messin with me or not, and thats using a soul seeker

Now my peace tamer has 0 eval and sdi on him but my spells were only doing 1 damage. So, the weapons work good then. Ok ill pull my pally tamer outa(insert dungeon here) and pull him over to cove. Thx!

There's multiple reports of guilds "bogarting" the horses...

If they kill the vanguard, and can tame the horse, they do so.

If anyone else starts a tame of a warhorse, regardless of who killed it - THEY KILL THE WARHORSE, to make the ones they tamed more valuable.

It's griefing and greed, plain and simple.

Now, I don't play a tamer - I don't have a dog in this race, so to speak. But I know griefing when I see it.

Can something be done to prevent this griefing, or at least reel it in some (like, having GMs watch invisably for the griefers at work in the event towns, and take them away when it's blatantly obvious what they are doing?)

on my shard alot of people tend to attack the horse also with the intent to knock its health down, but some people get carried away and end up killing it..if you can find a few people around you to help you by luring and killling the vanguard and maybe offer to tame them a horse aswell, im sure they will help ya out, at least thats the way its been working somewhat im my shard...just be nice enough to tame one for the people helping ya or they will eventually return the favor and kill every horse your trying to tame from that point on lol, ive seen this happen aswell

i would consider going during none peak times maybe if guilds are doing that..or go to fel
people tend to work together alot more and seem to be a hell of alot more reasonable in fellucia then trammel. there are a few people also in fellucia who cant seem to reason, but karma always has a way of letting you pay them back eventually...otherwise that situation just sucks

Hey Emma...I am on Chesapeake too. I've tried taming them, but not had any luck. It's pretty hard with everyone fighting over them. I would be happy to help you out if you want, although I'm not the best at the taming part, I'd be happy to help heal and such if you get a group together.

Maybe make a blue speech macro that looks like the taming spam, *Begins taming a creature*, make it obvious what you're trying to do. Won't work on the people who are trying to kill the things on purpose, but then nothing will.

You can also dismount the Vanguard using Bolas, we been doing that the past two days, saves alot of time trying to kill the Vanguard. Just dismount it, lure it off while your buddies tame it.

I have tamed 13 to 15 Dread Mares (didn't count at first) and got the first tamed one on Atlantic (GM popped out of it after I tamed it and told me to say 'trick', he was so cute wanting to see us all oooo and ahhh over it). Here are the highs and lows of all of those and all of the ones I have asked to lore around town.

If you say "trick" to it, the horse will do it's an area "attack" which looks like a big black cloud surrounding it. It's pretty neat, I'm sure you can find someone at WBB or Luna who would be happy to show off for you

It does a black explosion effect that looks exactly like the blackrock explosion that occurs when using the Armageddon spell on the Demon Lords but it is in a smaller format. I figure it will be something special either in the void just like the cloaks or in factions since it has a 15 minute timer before you can do it again.

Physical, fire and cold seem to have a twenty point spread from highest to lowest while poison and energy only seem to have a ten point spread. No idea why...

I would like to keep expanding this as much as possible to get a feel for the stats. I am pretty sure the resists are 100% figured out.

Resists have been as low as 20 on Fire/Cold.

Highest HP so far was 615. Lowest 580.

125 Mana / 125 Int

I just tamed two more for guildies and one of them had 504 str so I added that in. I have lored 8 more, including the ones I tamed, and they all are still falling into the stats I already have here. Any more to lore on Atlantic would be greatly appreciated!!

Finally got my first horse!

After countless attempts and fails and steals by the two competing guilds on my shard, I prevailed! harhar I'm satisfied

O.k. lored three more and locked in another resist and added it in. No more changes on stats though so I am extrapolating what I think might be the highs and lows from the info. I have so far. This is from the 29 Dread War Horses I have lored as of now. These guesses also assume that the War Horses have stats that aren't strange numbers like 504 but instead a low of 500. This could be wrong so remember, this is just guessing at this point on my part. The resists I am pretty dang sure on though.

Personaly i know its horrid, but theres no rules that say this is griefing. They are simply killing red spawn thats invading. Sorry.

But seriously... has anyone noticed that these are just nightmares with different stats? I am in KR, so maybe in the retro client they are purple or something, but from here they just look like nightmares.

hahah thank u .. I think I have decided to hope and pray for 2 .. I have seen the sheer mess it is to tame one people killin them or them some how getting guard wacked after being tamed .. I will pay for 2 if i have to if people arent charging an arm and a leg like i hear .. I thought id even take emma out and try but after what i saw last night I think ill just wait till all the kiddies get theres and then see whats up .. theres no need for that kinda crap its just a horse ... if people would work together and not against each other .. it may work better .. but then again have they ever .... *steps down off high horse* Sorry Ive just been thinking about it and the more i think about it the madder i get .. between that and people blaming the Devs for giving the tamers another advantage .. u know what MAKE A EFFIIN TAMER! no one is stopping u ... just cause u cant have one cause u dont have a tamer doesnt mean tamers in general are bad people .. ok im done.

*Sighs* I just lored two at the bank that both had lower hits than listed here before so there goes that stat too. Changes have been made... If the high and low guesses for hits are right now, that means there is an 85 point difference from high to low... WOW If they aren't it is even more!

Do you have any feel for the min taming requirement?

I had one transfered to me with 108.7 taming + 100.8 Lore.

To the best of my knowledge it has never refused a command. Secondary evidence it has stayed Wonderfully Happy.

I transfered to someone who said they had 95 taming, but don't know if that was true or how exact. I would think it is the same as a mare (this is just pure guess) which is 95.1 to tame and 90.1 to take. I have had to transfer a few times because it said it wouldn't obey some of the people but that was even on my husband's tamer which is like 106 with jewelry. I have 120 Taming 120 Lore and 120 Vet real and it can still be horrible to tame them. One took me almost 15 minutes to get the first day they spawned and that was with people healing me and no one grief hitting it. Others I have gotten first tame try... so it is very hard to get a gauge on them.

What might be helpful is to let varying taming skill levels try to tame to see where the bracket is for being allowed to tame vs You stand no chance.

I am not contesting your assumption but my assumption was more along the line of a Hiryu (98.6?) and a Cu Sadhe (101.1?).

Aside from the control slots they match up fairly well with those two Mob's as well.

It would be great to allow different levels to try to tame, but right now it is a huge mess to even try to get one. There are hit tamers and straight out killers galore who are messing with them and it is almost impossible to even get one now. Last spawn a guy killed everyone in Tram and Fel on purpose without hitting anything else and left. While the spawn before that we were all invising and healing each other as we could and not hitting the tame tries and it was wonderful. I ended up getting three horses and gave every one of those away to the peeps there who were helping and didn't have one yet. It was such a nice change from how it has been.

I am sorry, I don't know you so I don't know if your trying to be rude or not, but this sounds extremely rude to me. Read this thread http://vboards.stratics.com/showthread.php?t=543 and you will see that I gave away about 18 so far. That was however to guildies and people who were nice and helping each other try to tame, NOT to greedy people who were killing the Vanguard for his shield and sword and THEN sticking out their hands for a free mount. Yet again, I don't know you, haven't seen you helping the tamers yet so why should I give you one after you have gotten your shot at a shield and sword while we struggle to tame. I have one more to get for a friend who I found out was in the hospital and one for a friend working his tamer. After that I am out and will be just killing for the shields and swords since I am tired of the hassle. I will NOT be killing the war horses others are trying to tame... Peace
