Player housing within Magincia will be in two chunks - a north side and a south side. The houses in one will be raffled off, only one ticket per account. The houses in the other section will be raffled off, no limit on tickets per account - just how much gold you want to spend. It's a gold sink from what it sounded like.
Cal said it would not be Luna 2, but they are raffling off 20+ house plots in Magincia, with a lot going to whoever can spend the most so I don't see how it can't be. They'll most likely end up in the hands of the vendors.
They said they were not going to make Magincia a Luna 2. Quite a few questions of mine were answered in the HOC I asked and some on the boards here.
I had asked about the mass amount of unused land that will players ever have a chance to make these players runtowns/villages. Seemed like a mix reaction with Mesanna not liking it.
The answer on about lowering the amount of gold on monsters I didnt like. They want to add more but even doing that the item they are selling for 50 mil in luna will go up to 100 mil in amount of time. I understand the reasoning for new players and gold farming but c'mon.
Now it seems they have something in the works about the amount of gold in the game since that was another one I asked. They have plans but they are mum on that.

Wouldn't ahve mattered if you woulda had 100 more questions.
They didn't answer anything that was asked with a firm answer. (other than Magincia housing and NO transfers off Siege) Sounded like a bunch of damned politicians running for US President...maybe, we'll see, we'd like to but don't know, soon, its on the list...
And of all the things people have been asking about and talking about, it was all centered on items and pixel crack.

If they wanted to be completely fair, then the one ticket per account would hold for both the north side and south side.
To keep it from becoming as ugly as Luna, they should also have it so that the houses are pre-designed and can't be changed on the outside, and have a limit on transfers - you have to keep it for X amount of months, etc.
Luna does a good job of immediately removing you from the game, because the houses are just so horribly designed and only meant to showcase the vendors.
After the fall of Magincia, Magincia was supposed to be a more humble city. They play into some Ultima lore, and then toss the other out.

Although I will give them credit and say that the video format lets a LOT more questions get asked and answered than IRC did.

A lot of the item/pixel crack questions could have been answered in a short post on UOHerald.
I'm glad they did this, I'm glad we are getting higher resolution artwork, I'm glad to hear more about the new-player experience, but the whole thing made it feel like a lot of UO players care only about items they can stick in their houses, instead of things that affect the game.
A lot of the item/pixel crack questions could have been answered in Five-on-Friday type sessions.
And don't get me wrong - I followed the live chat and the pixel crack/items questions dominated the live chat, so it's not the fault of Cal, etc.
Oh I also asked about if they would add new deco items on the game store and change them randomly. They were a little confused but Mesanna was on the right track. When the question was presented they didnt add the part that I typed that the resources( the money off the sales) go back into UO.
So if the devs read this I'll explain what I meant. Just an example. They add say a new deco candle to the game that lights up when you come in your house for $2.00. Its on sale on the uo store for 2 months. Then after 2 months you take down that item and add another new item like a stuffed coil snake that hisses when you walk by it for sale at $2.00. Keeps it random and fresh with a constant flow of small deco items for possible pixel addicts.

Something was said about a tile set, then they hushed up saying we would get to see it. SO maybe thats part of the answer.

What if the account goes inactive right before the drawing? Would that just be tough for the winner? Will you choose another person if the account has become inactive?
I would like some details, please. I need to sell some blood or schoolbooks or something to get some money in. j/k - no blood selling =) More information would be helpful though.

Right, nothing specific, bugs continue to get handled in batches as they get them from Q and A and art assets get added in over time, nothing about how long a time.
And apparently Messana is reading the new player experience thread so might be worthwhile to poke around and contribute in there.

I saw it as a typical management/corporate type of thing of wanting to present one unified voice and so having certain topics answered only by certain people. Content issues are addressed mainly by one person, development questions addressed mainly by another person. That means that everybody has probably been briefed on exactly what they can talk about. That was nothing new. It also gives Cal some wiggle room - if Cal says something it carries more weight, but if Mesanna or Supreem say something, it's a lot easier for the decision to be changed.
I got the impression they were getting hit with questions about things they thought they had discussed privately and are wondering how people knew. A lot of "how did you guys hear about that" kinds of looks. They were also getting hit with questions they didn't want to answer. It showed on the questions where they had to have a conference or mute things.
Right, sorry DO, nothing about mechanics, special moves, cheats, further balance pass, none of that.
He DID say that we would see character copy on test before arenas go live.
It was near the end when they answered that. Took them about 1 minute to answer. Cal liked it but Mesanna seemed she didnt. They also went on how the process it is to add items to the game and code them and advertise them. Plus the mod in HOC was asking for questions. I asked some PvP questions that was not mentioned to them but ti wasnt the mods fault. Dont like what I asked? Then you should of been spamming questions or been there.
I really like how people cry about money needs to be poured back into UO and I was trying to get some ideas a moving but then you get a smart remark about it.
They discussed a little about Arena's and again factions was avoided. Seems like factions is an issue. Fel wasnt really addressed as much as I and others would of liked. I saw a few fel related questions that wasnt answered.

Nothing specific to the EC other than it getting work done on it in batches, which reaffirms how limited their resources are, however the artwork is an EC thing.
New player experience is/will be taking up a lot of resources. That says a lot right there.
Guess I'll have to see what the Pub 70 notes are to see if I cancel or not.

If Cal could of, I think he would of told us alot more then he was allowed to. Mesanna has him in check. Now I am start to wonder if the bashing he gets from some ( including me) is not all his fault for lack of communication. Seems like Mesanna likes to keep things on the down low.
They commented the were still recovering from their last look at factions, I guess you could call that an answer.
And they made the joking remark that if we wanted to lure more players to fel they could make fel gates blue, which of course they wont do.
All in all nothing to be looking for, no new developments to make yourself concerned with.
Only way to prevent it from becoming Luna 2 would be to disallow vendors in players houses there, yes?

They did address about griefing at EM events. EM's will contact Mesanna of the person(s) who are griefing an EM event and they will be banned. She didnt say how long or what but she did say it. That is one thing I noticed that seemed was a definte straight out answer. Now if she follows through what she said is another story. Somebody be the test monkey and find out at the next EM event
True enough, but if we have a hand in it we get to churn more drama and hate each other, rather than collectively hate them. See, inserting an interposing target *coughs* *meat shield* *coughs* could be a good thing.
Well, I´d rather have the houses belong to people that actually wants to be a part of Magincia and perhaps would bring some life into the town than them belonging to someone who only wants a plot to place vendors on, be part of the search sites and make gold. And who will add nothing to the town of Magincia.
So by disallowing vendors perhaps the "greedy" people will show no interest/stay out and we will see house-owners who actually care about giving the town a lively feeling.

see what I mean I for one want to have a house there not for a vender mall just 1 or 2 to get rid of items I have ! But I can only have 1 house on my account so I would have to go without to make others happy thats not fair to me either!

x2, this wasn't exactly what I expected.
Not much info beyond Magincia.
I do thank them, at least, for staying late to do this video... though I wish it were more informative.

Although another poster posted a couple of days ago that when Mesanna was summoned to an event by the EM a player involved started to attacking her instead. Not sure if anything happened to him.
But I really hope she manages to clean up the events.

What is happening with the new player experience hasn't been decided yet. It is still being discussed. They have yet to decide exactly what, if anything, will be added and when.
EC bug fixing will be done in a what is called a "sprint". A "sprint" is a set period of time, and in that time you try to fix as many bugs as possible. This is 100% coding, not art work. Like there was the (1 and only) "sprint" bug fix publish for the EC last year. Derek who talked about the "sprint" is a programmer not a artist.
So what exactly did they commit to doing, specifically with higher res art and the EC?

As to the herald video I am not going to put my paw in that one!
They dodged the question and said neither yes or no. Which means they would love to actually go F2P but they are afraid it would not draw in new players to a 12 year old game with 12 year old graphics and they don't really know how many existing players would leave because they would essentially feel like they get the shaft. Cal said some producer double talk that was non-committal.
