The other night I found a bunch of books on the ground saying selling siege gold $1.50 a mil. I icq'd the number and arranged to buy gold from the guy. I thought it was a safe bet because I was using paypal. The long and short is i paid and did not recieve the gold. The guy selling was Jerry News His icq is 468811283. If anyone else was foolish enough to encounter this problem with this guy please let me know. On icq he told me he would deliver it on a character named J news and deliver to the top of luna bank.

The only people on Siege with enough gold to sell are the regular players that you would recognize.

I thought with paypal you can reverse charges if unsatisfied. I would contact paypal and tell them you didnt recieve the goods and see what they say

I always thought it was very easy to reverse a transaction through paypal, especially with virtual goods, which is why sellers dislike paypal.

hey davy, sorry to hear it, bad enough the in game scams. However 1.50 a mill is a little too good to be true. I figure seige gold between 4.50 and 5 per. ShadowSpawn

Sorry Davy ..... really, but.... C`mon RMT? Buying gold?

More sites need to rip peaple off, maybe that`d stop some of this BS.

Not tryin to be a ****...... I just think RMT is for suckers and last I checked UO gold was extremely easy to get...even here on Siege.

You are wrong. I happen to own a website that Blizzard is not very fond of. :)

PayPal in the last couple of years defined its position concerning virtual goods. In short, their policy states that they will take no action in favor of the seller or buyer for virtual transactions because delivery, or lack thereof, is not verifiable. Therefore, there are only two ways to have a virtual transaction reversed when using PayPal.

1. You can claim that the transaction was unauthorized. If you do this, you will be presented with the responsibility of proving to PayPal that your account was hacked and that you did not authorized the transaction. VERY difficult to do, since IP Numbers and other stuff are used to determine if it was actually you that made the purchase.

2. IF you paid for it through PayPal, by using a a creditt card attached to your account, then you can go directly to the credit card company and file a legal affidavit with them to have the charges reversed. This is actually pretty simple to do, BUT you must have actually paid for the item by having it charged to your credit card. When the credit card company reverses the charge, PayPal will in turn reverse the charge on the seller, AND hit him with a $10 penalty.

This is why I never carry a balance in my PayPal acount. That way when I purchase things (virtual or physical) I am able to get my money back if I get screwed by the seller.

If you wanted to sticky this, or any part of it, it might help others who thought they were safe to be more cautious when buying virtual goods.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is...

You should be able to reverse the paypal transaction no problem as they require prove from the seller that it was deliver and he has none. [There is no proof of virtual delivery, screen shots/logs/etc don't count as they can be faked]

Just contact paypal and they will refund you your money, there's a link to their dispute center after you log in, or you might be able to dispute it from the transcation details.

Edit: Doh, posted at same time as Amanda and didn't realize paypal redefined their position. Last time I dealt with it was several years ago when they were automatically siding with buyer. Hope you paid by CC, that's what I always do as well if I'm unsure about the transaction, that way I can dispute it through CC.

that is not correct. See my post above.

You can go to PayPal and read their Buyers and Sellers Agreements for yourself if you like. I don't have time to go find the paragraph...

Paypal must not enforce that rule too often, a friend of mine attempted to buy ISK (Eve Online Currency) and never received the goods, and was able to reverse it and get his money back without much issue at all.

Well, like any company, they have many employees handling their dispute cases. But for sellers that know the policy, all you have to do is say something like this in your response:

"According to PayPal's buyer and seller policies, PayPal has stated that it will take no action in disputes or claims involving virtual currencies. In accordance with this policy, you cannot take any action on this dispute"

I have not lost one yet since I started using this text.

PS: Please do not read this that I am scamming people and not losing. Unfortunately, there are people who try to buy gold and scam as well.

First RED light for me would have been the buck fifty a mil. Siege gold is always $4-5 a mil. Always. Also I have never had any issues with Cybernickel and is 100% trust worthy for all Paypal transactions.
Sorry to hear you got scammed, that really sucks.

There are better deals out there then cyber. But Cyber is 100%, so if .50 on a mil makes a difference to you vs the safety of 100% delivery, then take your risks.
