Ok, since I was taking a break from UO when this event was run before, can someone fill me in on how the drops work? It's a point system like doom, right? Do different difficulties of monsters give different amounts of points, or is it more like Champ Spawns & SoTs, where the key seems to be just killing as much as you can as fast as you can?

Yes, it's Doomlike ( or rather, Doom is now ToT-like :) )

Monsters give points according to their fame, a roll is made with each kill to see if there is a drop, and then reset once you get a drop. There is no point at which you are ever guarenteed a drop, but statistically, they will feel like they are dropping more-or-less regularly.

There are many different hunting strategies that work nicely. Rather than fretting to much about min-maxing it, I'd recommend just going out and having fun - although I'd imagine the champ spawn area is going to be a madhouse of piranhas with all the rewards simultaneously available.

(this is assuming they haven't tweaked the underlying system)

Oklahoma (yes it is a state)
Probably the best bet is to do the Tokuno champ spawn since you will now have a chance at SOT's, replicas, and now Tokuno minors. On the 2nd TOT event they did announce that the Tokuno minor wouldn't drop in dungeons or in the Fan dancer dojo, but this time I have yet to see the offical word if they will or will not drop in those locations.

Yes, with a few tweaks. There are 10 new minor pigments to replace the old ones, plus a new minor mempo that has 300 luck. You will not be able to exchange the mempo for a major artie plus they removed the pigments as a major artie selections so only the minor pigments will be given out. Here is a link to the announcement.
