The book for day two may be found south of the Moonglow Telescope at 34o 1' N 122o 25' W. It is on the SE most piece of land that is part of the eastern peninsula of Verity Isle - just SE of the southern house.

Nothing again either, just a warhammer. Guess if you don't have SA yet, you might want to hold off a bit.

calm down with the SA stuff, there's no proof that you need SA to get the items. You might just be having bad luck. That happens you know -_-

in the house quest I was getting artifacts at a ratio of 1 in 8 attempts. Getting crap is no indication of any client, luck or any other factor being better. Just the outcome of the RNG.

Now having said that, who do you talk to, to get the clue for day two?

I concede that, having not done that other quest I wouldn't know.

I did run all my other character, 7 in total, leaving one having not done day 1 or 2, and no 'special' items.

I'll assume from now that I just have horrible luck with the RNG :D

I can FIRMLY ESTABLISH that you DO NOT have to have SA to get special items, as my non-SA account had one of the cloaks from the house event drop, and another character on the account got a relic fragment.

ON THE OTHER HAND, if an item has an SA property on it, you must have SA to use it (which the cloak and tali leftovers from last quest, that are spawning, both do).

There's no Lt. Crag on Drachenfels on either Fel or Tram Cove. They've made a right balls up of this quest.

Why do they always release this stuff so late on a Friday? I can't believe that EA still runs things according to Pacific time, ignoring the fact that more people play OUT of that time zone than in, even on the Pacific shard.

The quest was active at server up on Friday.

Doesn't do much good to start a quest unless you announce it, which according to the time stamp, was last night.
Connor does have a point... I wouldn't have even known a quest was going on if I didn't randomly check stratics...

The only reason I knew about Avery is that there was an EM event on Atlantic on Thursday and at the EM Meet and Greet after the event, EM Eris mentioned that Avery was in town.

Well, guess what....I can't believe grown fossils still type wtf. I say, what the hell mel.....the game: it is what it is, play it and like it or go outside.

Also note, this isn't a quest with some elaborate prize. This is a lab rat test, and you, me, and even mel, are all the cheese-eaters. This is a test of greed and what the playerbase has become.

Look, you even get someone, I'm sure they're over 18, jumping up and down, waving their arms.....oooh-oooh, next clue, over here!!

And yes, I'm doing it too, eating my cheese and seeing what kind of garbage I can collect this time.

Okay, but really, what's all the fuss about? I mean, commentary about the formatting of the fiction, the quality of the fiction, and the few bugs that are plaguing the quest aside, and focusing on the issue of when the quest was announced, does it really make some gigantic difference to you whether you start the quest yesterday or today? I mean, it's not as if you miss out on anything... do book 1, talk to a lieutenant, do book 2, talk to the same lieutenant, and you're caught up.

Nothing to flip out about.

And since you seem, by your own admission, to know they "always" release this stuff "so late on Friday," what are you surprised about? They started a quest in line with their usual schedule for starting quests. Just because it's not convenient to your time schedule doesn't somehow make them culpable for suddenly changing release schedules. You know when they do it, so maybe checking "late" on a Friday night (considering I was already running it at about 5 Central, not sure why you consider it "late") would be good if you're that concerned about their start times.

You have plenty of time to do this quest. :)
That's not the point.
Yeah, really that IS the point, you just don't like it.

Chill.

The fiction, poor as it is, was posted at 6pm CST - not exactly "late night," unless you live in Europe.

Kinda your responsibility to keep up on the game you play, not Stratics'. Check the UO Herald every once in a while too.

And here I complain about the Devs being lazy, the players are too... :gee:

You need to step the **** back. I never said anything about how much time we had to do the quest. What I said was they should have announced it when it was turned on, and not 12+ hours later. This isn't a difficult concept, even you should get it, but then again, maybe not.

Yeah, and the quest was turned on at server up according to what I'm hearing. Wow, almost 12 full hours later. Imagine that. rolleyes:

What part of "they didn't announce the quest until a half a day later" don't you get?

Oh Connor, you're such a treat... In a masochistic sort of way.

You've played this game HOW LONG now? You know the Dev Team's M.O. and yet you still complain that it wasn't announced the very second it was turned on. Please. It'll up for 10+ days.

The rest of us don't care that YOU feel slighted by this for some inane reason. Its not all about you, hun.

Grow the F up, btw. K thx, bye.

There are several outlets for information. On Atlantic the event girl at the Luna bank was telling everyone to go see Avery, this was at server up on friday.

Except, of course, that it's not unusual for a company to pre-prep something and then announce it with the launch that they had initially planned.

As far as anyone knew, the quest didn't exist UNTIL THEY ANNOUNCED IT.

This isn't a difficult concept, even you should get it, but then again, maybe not.

Here's a novel idea, though. Stop working on blisters by venting your misplaced anger at some nefarious plot by Mythic to interrupt your pixel crack hounding time, and instead, log in and do the bloody quest.

Again, not a difficult concept, but then... maybe you like ill-gotten blisters. Your world, not mine. I'm just here for the ride. :p

That would make sense if they hadn't let its presence be known in game, so obviously it wasn't "pre-prep".

Wrong, as explained above. People did know about it. It was just very few.

It. Does. Not. Matter.

Yes, some of the EMs let people know a quest was starting Friday. Oh no. And EA put the quest people in at some point. And then they fired it up Friday morning, probably after server-up.

And then at some point later in the day they announced it.

And you're heartbroken.

Get. Over. It.

18,000+ posts, and I'll bet you most of them are in the same vein. Here... I brought you a new cup of milk. You can stop crying over the other one.

Based on what I've read so far, I'm gonna refrain this time as well. Can't believe this is the kind of garbage my subscription fees are paying for: Another set of quests for the greedy to get more junk and, from the sounds of it, buggy as ever. This is the kind of content that's making it very easy to spend less and less time on UO every day and eventually get to the point where it should be fairly painless to just go to the account maintenance website and yank the billing info off the rest of my accounts. Let the house contents fall where they may....

Well, off to work for me and maybe I'll log in tonight and collect more loyalty point information so Petra can add it to the website and then some other lazy jerk can complain they don't know how to find it.

I never said I was heartbroken. If you want to be accurate, I'm more peeved that yet again the communication with the players is sub-par, and frankly, this is just one of a long line of similar incidents. If they're going to do something like this, they need to announce it to everyone, not just a few people that happened to be in the right place at the right time. Since "It. Does. Not. Matter." is merely your personal opinion, it has no bearing on EA's crappy job of communicating with the playerbase as a whole, so I'll just ignore it like I normally do similar statements. Turning an event on, then not letting the playerbase as a whole know it was there, is crappy management no matter how you want to look at it.

Get. Over. It.
Maybe you should consider taking your own advice.

There's a lot of love in this thread.

I too am extremely miffed that his wasn't better announced, I got back late last night and was too drunk to bother doing the quest.

That's 7 sacks of poo that the Devs owe me, I demand an explanation.

Uh... they DID let the playerbase know. You're just upset that they didn't send up fireworks the moment it was technically active. They made the announcement when THEY were ready to make it. What part of that don't you understand?

I mean, there's a million MORE appropriate things to be badgering Mythic about, and you're choosing the one that is fairly well industry standard. The fact that the quest was technically active doesn't mean they have to post the announcement before they're ready to do so.

I mean, ultimately, what difference does it make? None. Zero, zip, and zilch.

If the quest is working for you, go through the western door of the warehouse and there should be a chest against the opposite wall. Double-click on it and a lantern will appear in your bag. However, for some reason, the chest isn't appearing for a lot of people (myself amongst them.) If it's not working for you, and you have a lantern left over from the housing quest, it works as well; take it to the ruins near Papua, hold it, light it and a book should appear in the middle. (The exact location of the ruins is divulged in one of the threads below.)

And yes, the Day One location still works as of right now. Apparently.

Yeah, you can continue to do each day as they come active, so if you don't start until day 4, you can still do days 1, 2, and 3.

However, I'd strongly advise that you use the lantern, read the book for a day, talk to the Lieutenant of your choice, and then go read the next book. I suspect if you read multiple books before talking to a lieutenant that you might only get one reward, but still be marked as reading them all. Not sure if it happens that way, but I wouldn't chance it.

You can, however, only read and collect a prize for each book once.

It's creepy weird to me that people are complaining about the announcement timing of the event, even though it was announced on the same day it started.

There's so much else to complain about this event that's way more legitimate than that. Why not complain about the incoherent fiction riddled with errors (grammar and plot) that 30 minutes' work could have fixed, the bugged items (with at least one new item not named and belonging to the wrong NPC), the fact that it's literally a copy of the last event (couldn't even make it a torch or something, instead of a lantern).....

I, for one would have gladly forgiven the fact that it's an exact copy if the fiction, trimmings, and background had been more put together.....and if it was a bug-free copy.

So the only clues so far are the one near Terra Keep and the one at moonglow? And is Lt crag just another person to get the reward from? I did both of those clues so far and managed a relic frag and a junk ring. Is there anything I'm missing? Thanks

Because we know nobody cares?

Seriously though, the inconsistencies in plot bothered me too (why is Ricardo back in jail? Wasn't he plotting with Avery and Sherry? Why is Avery acting like he's never met him? Did he turn out to be guilty after all? Does that mean Casca didn't actually frame him? Did we just depose a perfectly good monarch?! ARE WE LIVING A LIE- *cough* Sorry). But, you know, the majority of players just do not care about the fiction. They can churn out as many mistake-ridden rush-jobs, contradict themselves as many times, and make as many unannounced plot retcons as they want, and nobody will care (except for a few people) as long as they get items out of it.

...sorry, that turned into a bit of a rant. Pardon me. It's late. The deterioration of UO roleplay and interest in universal storylines has made me sad. Also my lack of lanterns.

And they are crappy items at that.. Its sad. I'm with Galen on their problems with this event. In fact we spent quite a while picking it apart in vent. Read the parody of the fiction, done by one of our fellow GL RPers (who shall remain nameless) http://vboards.stratics.com/showthread.php?p=1713510 Its far better than the original dreck they posted.
