  • Area of Effect spells
I have a White Wyrm with max intelligence + goo and i'm very happy with the damage (and range my god sometimes a screen away!), I also gave a Ki-Rin Aura of Energy but it seems to be low damage but very mana friendly. my questions regarding area spells:
  • Are they strengthened by evaluating intelligence/Intelligence/Strength or damage orientation of the pet (fire beetle 100% fire + goo area fire)?
  • What about Essence of Earth and Aura of Energy? are these confirmed cheaper mana spells than goo? has any tested these spells out to see if they have a use because this forum seems to be riding the goo wagon.
  • Sticking with pet's natural magic lore
I gave a Cu mysticism and wasn't happy with the amount of mana spend (but i've learned that giving a loaded skill pet a magic school is a very bad idea, i'm now very happy with simple armor ignore/poison cu). I made the White Wyrm a mage master and he casts teleport/magic reflect now and again but i'm a bit worried that I took his natural magery AI away it might of been more damage orientated? I left the Ki-Rin's magery alone and he seems to be much more aggressive with it but I heard death ray but isn't that a mana throw away?

  • What are the pro's and con's to either upgrading mage mastery or leaving it at just magery.
  • Giving a non magic pet a magic school : are they just as good as pet's who naturally have a magic skill by default?
Also any info on cheap skills from pet abilities tree would be appreciated :) I was digging around for a mana cost on dragon breath (uoguide does not show it for this skill) so i had to assume at first it doesn't but then my mate was testing his pet's mana usage and he swears it might cost a bit of mana.

Good afternoon Deadly, I do enjoy someone seeking answers and asking question.. Ive tested some of the things you have requsted answers too and shall share my finding with ya.. =^-^=
Ive tested the value of Goo vs the other aoes... They have it coded so it gets a small bump of damage from Your pets wrest and tactics gains(game consider it a melee move).. as its a spell but still gains the values of damage increase from the hit value of wreste/damage bonus.. and tactics seems to consider it a melee move for some reason and gives it the damage increase... I looked into The damage vaule of fire beetles having 100% fire damage to see if that increased the damage ( like frost damage pets does to cold winds) Sadly it didn't.. Now a fast run down on the other 2 aoes... the mana values.. mana wise ess of earth, and Aura of energy are a lower mana cost then goo.. earth and aura are only 20... while goo was increase to 50 then lowered back to 30 a week or so back... The main reason most take Goo is because its AI is tuned abit better... say you are doing an oaks... if you have good karma goo will only hit the grey mods... aura of ene will hit everything .. even npcs in a player town near a spawn( near haven or VvV battle did not end well with that test..lol)... the 2nd reason is the damage bump.. and the Resistances they effect... Goo gets more of a raw damage bump then earth / aura.. most boss lvl monsters have weaker fire then phy/ene resist... but one of the best things about goos AI.. when its fighting single target it uses it less often.. while with aura and earth it tends to use them a lot more in single target costing you damage....

Magery mastery.. its ok to pick this.... but I've found it to be loaded with more cons then pros... for one things.. it turns you pet into a teleport jumping bean..making it very hard to vet and sometimes leaving you trapped in a wall of spawn in fel... The worse things it causes is protection going off... lowering your pets phy resist to 60 ...allowing boss/champ lvl monsters to hit it for 50-80 phy damage with its melee swings... its a pure damage gain to not use magery mastery... death ray... they had it coded to magery pets would only use this with the mastery going.. but recent test have shown pets without the mastery using it too... don't worry about it being a mana drain.. if you pet is tanking one melee hit will break it right away.. if its not tanking it will hit what its fighting for 130-150 ever sec until its out of mana... so its like a chain of spell base armor ignores.. ^_~ Let talk the stat value increase.. Int does give a very very very very small increase to spell damage.. but they have it soo low that its honestly not worth investing in right now.. it also gives a small amount of extra mana reg but again that's super low(500 int = 1.5-2 man reg) its best to use those points ot max out dex and stam..at 150 your pet gains an extra melee swing(every 1.5 sec) and moves faster on land... and then maxing str to 700 as this is your best damage increase.( it increase melee swing damage and special move damage).. Adding a school of magic to a non magic pet.. for this the main thing to know is there are 2 classes of pet monster in the game.. the Super passive mana reg monster( lesser hiryu, hiryu, fire beetle,Tsuki Wolf, giant Bettle, etc) and Low passive mana reg monsters(Cu,firesteed,rep,dragon,etc)... The high mana reg pets do a lot better with schools of magic in over all up time... but the lower mana reg one can also pull off some great damage if speced right(give them 30 mana reg 120 med and focus for max up time as for mana cost most of the stronger single target are clocked at 50 mana per use like armor ignore... last I test breath it was at 20 mana per use..but I need to double check and make sure they haven't changed .. moves like life steal and a lot of defense only use 5-10 mana..but spam you mana pool dry..and heal is 15 mana. We often talk about these things in the forum on here called "Changes and new stats" check it out my friend a lot of good info in there.. ^_~.. if there is anything else ya wish to know feel free to message me or post anytime.. hope this helps =^-^=

I've noticed that Aura of Energy hitting Blues in Haven as well... NOT good...
For a while occasionally my AOE pets and Bushi pets would whack me with a AOE or whirlwind in the middle of a fight. Have not seen that happen in a while so maybe they fixed it. The AOEs hitting other people and pets tram side I believe I read is on the fix list.

I believe it still happens with aura of ene.. they did hot fix a lot of those issues though.. but on fel side if the aura happens to hit a npc and someone yells the magic words "GAURDS!" ..whack.. it kills ya.. friend of mine learned that during a VvV town fight.. was not a good day for him.. There is also a bug where is a pet is tamed by a VvV tamer and given to someone else and it has goo.. the goo still hits all VvV players without flaging the non VvV master or pet for VvV...its like the pet is perma in VvV ...
