As I am training up another character via ROT The thought of why the Siege Forum is one of the more active Stratics UO forums crossed my mind............ We have time to read and post waiting for the ROT timer to ding LOL :)

I would think it's because ROT allowed us to max out all of our skills with ease. But I love ROT it fits my play style and doesn't make me feel like I'm grinding for a skill. Clicking 100+ times hoping the false deity RNGesus answers you vs waiting a few minutes and clicking once. ROT is like powerhour for us old farts.

The longest wait you have for a .1 gain with ROT is 15 minutes vs up to 51 hours with GGS.

RoT does beat the heck out of the prodo near uselessly hammering a training macro for days. We can just run a timer and do whatever makes the game fun for us between the timed trainings. Training Barding and Taming here was far nicer than when I did them on Chessie, and probably faster. (Yes I know someone trained all seven of those skills to Legendary in a mere single afternoon and I just clearly had no clue how to train them... )

I'm a big fan of the ROT, as well. I just hate mindlessly training a skill for no other reason than to train it. I'm much happier gaining skills though normal use, and I feel like ROT encourages that to happen.

Ok can someone explain rot with alacrity scrolls, and the proper way to do them?

Unless it has changed, in non combat skills get your gain and log out stopping the 15 minute timer. ROT Timer Dings log in get gain + Bonus log out rinse and repeat. With combat skills you have to wait 2 minutes to log out if you log out prior to the 2 minute timer the alcarity timer keeps ticking because you are still in the game. I used a soul stone to check the 2 min log out timer as you can't use a stone for 2 minutes after combat either.

Love the ROT except for tactics from like 116-120 most of the things I like to fight don't give gains after 116/117 so I have to go whack the Yamadon or a Ronin :)

Siege is and always has been a pretty incredible community. I am glad to be a part of it.
You know some say the Community on Siege is a bad thing, that we have our own little shard clique and no one else is welcome to join it. That is just pure hog crap! The vast majority of people in the Siege Community will help someone new to the shard in just about every way possible. Kind of see it as every one starts out with a 0 reputation and it goes + or - and that reputation very much influences how someone is treated by the community. Personally I think that is a good thing.

18 years or so and I finally 120d a tamer a few weeks ago on prodo using pinks to go from 118 to 120. Do it in a week of casual Rots on Siege. That GGS system sucks from what I can tell you are guaranteed a .1 gain every 24 hours.
