Reading this thread was a major rollercoaster ride lol...

I've been slowly cancelling my accounts, one at a time. I plan on keeping a couple going, but that's it.

Why? I cannot justify paying, you're reading right, $200 per month in subscriptions on a game that just isn't my kinda game anymore. It USED to be, but not anymore.

Gaming to me is all about fantasy escape and creative expression, which is why I've gone back to S2. My sims are still called 'sims' there. They can all be billionaire rock stars and all look uniquely different. I can build and design houses to my heart's content there. Here I have to type for hours upon hours, month after month just to afford a freakin' fence post. Like enough already....

EA could easily re-invigorate interest in this game if they:

1.) Added new jobs
2.) Added mini games (laser tag, guns, dodgeball, soccer, etc)
3.) Re vamped skilling
4.) Unique ways to make money
5.) Scripting

The only one they even have talked about working towards is #5. I think the first step to making some of these ideas real is by overhauling the graphics. Then implementing some of these ideas.

I don't believe your projections are remotely based in reality. So you really think re-vamping skilling will take a year? Or adding a mini game? Graphics overhaul I could give you, but not the others.

As for my desire to wait.... I'm really apathetic. I am only here to talk about issues important to the game. I don't consider it waiting, since I don't actively think to myself throughout the day: "Gosh! I wish they would hurry up with this advanced skilling. I am so anxious to try it out!". If it comes, I'll be happy and reactivate whatever accounts I have unactive at the time. If it doesn't come, I will continue to play off of the account that is paid for me periodically.

Well the devs told us how long it took just to make one new chair, months. Players made thousands, even if many of them are ugly and/or just plain strange. Also considering that the offline items havent all been added to the catalog yet, it must be harder then we think, or maybe they realize that as they add CC options the players can just upload it and save the devs time to work on other important things like new graphics.

In my other game it takes over a year for each new update. I suspect most games are the same.

So whats the answer? Give us scripting so we can make our own additions to the game. Seems like a better use of their very valuable time to me.

It's much more like the year to year changes in cars. One year the hubcaps look a little different. The next, they might slightly change the bodystyle. Does the car still drive the same? Yes. Until they modify some of the core parts (ie:engine) the car will continue to drive the same.

That's an interesting point..now that CC is implemented: I'm assuming they are using a different method to upload objects..because it used to take them months to add a chair and after the CC change tons upon tons of chairs are put into the game much more quickly..so, in turn, won't that mean that the devs should be able to implement any and all objects much faster..especially those that already exist, copied from Sims 1.

And now I'm wondering if, we, as players submit those same items (at least the ones that aren't interactive-excluding the now possible chairs and tables)..can do just that, so that the devs have time to work on more important things.

Then again, I wonder if when a player uploads something that is on the Sims 1, but not in game yet (that fits the above description),

Is that something that is considered a copyright infringement of some sort if we didn't change the objects in some way??

There are still a lot of chairs, tables, standing objects from Sims 1/Deluxe and +, that we as players could submit "as is" with much ease! And once scripting is introduced, the amount will become much much larger.

Actually that's a bit misleading. In your other game, there are updates often. The big updates happen about once a year, and can be compared to the "expansions" of other games.

TSO isn't one of my games anymore. In my other game (not Niki's other game), there is an update every month. That update enhances the current game, fixes bugs and every so often brings something new and exciting around, too. Also once a month, but at a different time, this game finds a bunch of the cheaters and bans their accounts. Tens of thousands, sometimes. This game is 5 years old and has four expansions, which have been about once a year for the last 4 years. From what I know of other games, I find that to be about the norm.

Lol - Reminds me of the time a few years ago when the spring rains went on for weeks and weeks, finally flooding the Mississippi River and washing several states into the Gulf of Mexico.
Nevertheless - the National Weather Service reported (several times) that *technically* the area was still in a drought.

If *I* worked for EA, I would pop my head in for a sec and say "Hi, we're still here" and get back to work.

I think part of the problem has been the silence of the devs and Parizad after the constant communication since EAL opened. I think most of us are paranoid about silence and any lack of communication. It reminds us of what happened to the game before Luc and his team came charging in to rescue it. It's a little scary.

I haven't read any date on when amnesty is due to be delivered but with the deadline of April 30th, I wouldn't have thought they would hand out amnesty until everybody has joined that wants to join. Guess we'll all have to wait and see what happens after that date.

*keeping my fingers crossed that the pessimists are proven wrong*

I am looking at 'common sense'. It makes no sense to 'amnesty' anyone until everyone is ready to get it. I can just see the screams if they 'snuck in' a gifting...*puts on a pout*..."I wasn't ready for the amnesty and now I'm screwed".....BOOO HOOO!

Some of the people at this site are sooo predictable.

Actually I don't expect 'amnesty' to happen on April 30th. That's just the 'cut-off' date. I don't think amnesty will be very far behind it though.

Greetings all. Some things just make me jump in there.
This is my favorite thus far. (it will change when animation is introduced) We had a riot laughing when we goofed and uploaded a large cauldron as a counter and our EA family started using it. LOL, so we all began discussin what we could upload to use as chairs!!! Now they use the cauldron as a table and we have logs for chairs!! It's cute, you all just try it, and we think of ways to theme decorate. Think of what we can use as chairs, rofl...piggy chairs, etc. Tables, list is endless. Oh, hope I'm on topic, beginning of the end? I hope not.

the new idea of the enconomy is being coming crazy the only people who will come out on top are people who are makin C.C. or might not cuse things are gettin to expensive and EA/Maxis knows we are almost in a depression in RL and now they wanna drain out more real life money out of us to play a damn game i aint spending rl money to buy simoleans or w/e they are called whats the purpose of buyin in game money that aint real and why waste more money on a game your paying 9.99 a month on so i think very soon this game will be at a dead end and have to send out the 90 warning email to everyone cuse no one will be able to play the game any more and the free accounts wont do much since you cant go in skill houses or money houses to make money and i think they should let bots be not saying i bot or anything its just the cost of money in game is to much and let the 3rd party sellers be they are trying to make a living in real life and trying to make extra money to feed thier families and themselves therefore i say go back to the old days with the payouts and all that i think i give this game like 5 months tops to live and after that it will be GAME OVER for good cuse no one will be able to afford to play this game any more

first off i am stating a fact about real life the USA is almost in a depression so therefore people who are paying $9.99 a month for this game will not be able to soon cuse they wont be able to afford it and 2nd off i am also stating why should the make people trying to support thier families in real life buy selling in game money for cheaper it is now for 19k u gotta pay 20usd that i know of from 2 months ago all i know it could of gone up some more who knows

I do agree with you but...all these Devs and such have secretaries and other people who work under them. If I would have not at least sent out letters stating ..." the project is being worked on" I would have probably lost my job with a very big pharmaceutical company in the USA. I would let my Secretary know what to say and when to say it especially if there were calls or e-mails to the fact. They could at least leave a line that we are still here and we care. I know they are busy but yesterday I got a bit worried in TC when in mid morning most of the houses only had like the most 12 people in them. I do congradulate the EA Team on what they have done thus far, but a small note would reassure some folks.

Oh, but you forgot to mention that those blog posts were about nothing. One was to tell us that there wouldn't be an update to TC3 and the other was to communicate to us how much CC was in the game. It's been almost 2 weeks since any real communication was posted and that was just a "we've been reading your comments about the new "feature" they've been testing". I'm happy that you are getting your CC approved but many more are not. Who looks foolish now? Before you negate other people's post you need research your facts before you post them. Giggle away.

About nothing?????? About nothing??????? Hey to me it looks like there was communication. It wasn't silence!!!!! A statement was made FGS. Maybe that's all they had to say. Maybe there wasn't anything else necessary. People are getting their CC approved, now if no one was for an extended amount of time then I would say there was a problem.

Things are going on behind the scenes we have no knowledge of, give them a break and let them do their work before yelling the sky is falling. Quote by Chicken Little, and see what happened with that fairy tale.


There was communication on the 16th, better than we used to get which was complete silence, nothing, nada. Oh but I forgot it wasn't the communication some people wanted.
A negative person is never happy until everyone they come into contact with is as negative as they are. It spreads like an insidious disease. Facts are one thing and supposition is another. When I get the 90 day notice then I will say "well got to go find another game". Until then I am not going to spread negative unproven or assumed garbage on the forum. It makes no sense, it proves nothing and just shows the poster as a very negative person hell bent on proving their point.

I am sticking with the game because I am having fun. I can't make it fun for others they have to find that in the game and as they play and yes it has a lot to do with attitude. Is your glass half full or is it half empty. If you really don't have fun, can't have fun then go find your self some fun. Why come here and share your fear and negativity with the rest of us, over and over and over. We have heard it and we have heard you we know how you feel and maybe you are right...so what. We all are aware of what may happen. It may fail, it may not. Only time will tell.

IMHO, and it is not worth much I am sure, but if you have already voiced your concerns on the forum then maybe it would help for you to possibly write a letter to the powers that be and tell them as well. WE have already heard it maybe they have not. I am sure that they have much more clout than we or the Dev's have. Write to some one who can actually DO something about your complaints. Just a thought.

Stop bringing this up when right now there is no need for it. Let others enjoy this game as it is, not as something we have to grip onto just incase tomorrow its ripped away.

If that is true than why is everyone continuing to post the same old gloom and doom here on the forum. Why are they not sending mail to those who really count and have the true control of this game? Why aren't they sharing their concerns with EA? If you have then HOORAY for you, but if you haven't then why not? Posting here on the forum is great but eventually if your going to continue to post the same old thing all the time then obviously you must be very upset? Then do something positive about it. Send a letter to someone who can actually do something about it. Positive actions create positive results in most cases. Anyone tried it yet? Just a thought.

What facts? I am sure that "what facts" there truly are we have heard so many times it is ridiculous. Just because some are very tired of hearing it over and over doesn't mean we aren't facing it. If you have, truly have, facts that are a concern to you then why not send a letter to those people who are actually in control of this game. Share, your facts, with those who can make a real change? Make real difference? Sharing your facts with all of us has just caused contention as some are tired of hearing it. Why? I think that it is frustrating because non of us can do anything about it. And some of your facts really aren't others facts because it doesn't bother them, they don't care, to them it's not a big deal.
