Suggestions for "Tour Stops" with New Siege Players

I wanted to get some feedback from anyone who wants to voice an opinion about good places on Siege to show new players. If someone new to Siege joins NEW and is amenable to being dragged around the shard for 20 to 30 minutes, I usually show them the following places:

  • The NEW training house (I believe it's referred to as "The Boondocks")
  • The Umbra hub house
  • Player-run shops in New Magincia (as many as someone has the patience to see)
  • Player-run shops around Zento (ditto on the patience part)
  • Shops around the Britain moongate
  • Shops around the Yew moongate
  • The green moongate to Serpent's Hold from the Brit councilor's hall and the blackish moongate north of the Britain bank
  • The Moonglow shop accessed from the Umbra hub
  • The Dagger Isle house accessed from the Umbra hub
  • Raptor's public island pub (just added this today)
  • Smurfy's Barter Town shop (just added today also)
  • Guardian's vendors in Luna (also added this stop today)

Am I missing any areas of the shard that are truly unique to Siege and would be helpful for a new player to know about--places they might not stumble across on their own or that they'll hear people talk about in general chat but be reluctant to ask publicly for directions? I will add the Iantown pub to the tour as well, but are there other pubs or similar locations that could use some free publicity with new players? I don't want to make the "tour" take too long, but I enjoy showing people that Siege is not the dead quiet shard that so many seem to think it is!

Also, perhaps as an alternative to showing people even more places, is there something I can mention about general areas where certain guilds or alliances have a group of houses all in one location? I'm still fuzzy on some of this information and it seems like some of the information I once read along these lines has become out of date because of certain guilds no longer being active on Siege.

Thanks for any suggestions you might have!

There is New Gilfane. The Citadel (capital building) is linked from the hub. The Tortured Elf tavern is next door and the Arena to the south. All are public, as are several other buildings in the town. We are planning to apply for official player-town status soon (if they would grant such a thing on Siege) once the castle museum and a couple of other places have been opened to the public.

Here is the current map of the main buildings.

I always thought it was a good idea to show people the old town of Safe Haven since alot of us still refer to it in them words. its at brit x roads north east of the swamp above britain. that whole area used to be a popular pvp area with alot of vendors

When I first came here spring 2004, and before I even was in NEW, Siege had hosted a grand tour of player run towns. Unfortunately those have all deteriorated to being about gone now. But I still remember the grand tour of Siege quite well.

A lot of folks not even from Siege, like myself at that time, had a grand tour of DTA and the DTA tower with GM marked items from many a player whom had played here. We also were taken to UND township met some undeads and some orcs and so forth, then we were taken to see the Shire, to have a few brews at the Golden Unicorn Tavern in the Shire. From there we toured the once bustling townships of Iantown, and Wintermoor, with the grand finale meeting the Lord of The Damned and VMP-ville. The tour ended at the Port of Umbra house. Twas a grand tour, I still have screen shots of it all.

I also toured a new township built 'someone' named Aeric Horn :), was KiN township then were I met a lot of folks and we all participated in a scavenger hunt. Met a lot of folks there like Skylark, Castor, a knight commander giving speeches named Py Lethius, and some vampires coming in a horde a'killin with a Lord of the Damned shouting at me, DIE INSOLENT BLUE ! :) Ah, great memories ! Somewhere between glowing speeches of a knight commander, and vampires slayin me, & all the different peoples I had met here, I felt I found my new *home shard* back then.

And had it not been also for a lady giving me tinker tools when I was out of gp and out of iron and no way to make more tinker tools, nor to tinker up a shovel to fetch more iron, no way left, to up any craftin skills, I mighta quit, what with ROT and everything breaking here so fast, never thought I would GM any skill here at all, by then, save for the mighty tinker tool replacement Shalimar had given me !
To wit..I then joined NEW guild ! :) While the tinker tool does not DO much for my PVPin skillz to defend me self, to remain alive, so long as I gotz tinker tools, I can never be *defeated* ! LOL

But no one showed me that moongate in downtown Brit. which at the time was slapped right under the Bridge, which I accidently ran into, and ended up thinking I was stranded on Serp. Hold. :)

That lil moongate is important to show newer folks here and also the WAY OFF Serp. Hold. lol
Or they will end up doing the hues of gray dead tour dungeon run like I did, knowing if I run thru the right turns thru the dungeons, I could at least get to the lava lizards in the lost lands, to get off Serp Hold,
thus knowing there is a gate OFF Serp. Hold, is important to show em, too. :)

Now the last 'tour' I gave a couple newer Guardian of MYTH members was to show em the existance of the Umbra hub, to wit we were all surprisingly exterminated upon arrival onto the Umbra hub, by that chap, called Heavenless. :)
I said to em in ghost speak ... WELCOME TO SIEGE ! lol

Sooooooo don't forget to add to any tour, some mysterious ways, in which everyone, may end up quite DEAD [by other players here], ah a social occasion, to MEET the people here, regardless of hues or play styles,
tis kinda important they [quickly learn and accept/adapt to the fact] that:

Siege is wonderfully, UNIQUE ! LOL
