Soulstone Timer Removed

Not sure how many of you know about this... But I just found out...

The removed the 24 hour cool down on soul stones so you can swap skill as much as you want.

Huh, now I might actually be bothered to use them.

Whenever I'd switch before, within 10 minutes, I'd find something that I absolutely needed the skill I just stoned off for....

Yep but now you can swap as much as you want... So I like that a lot...

I'm not sure but I think it was meant to happen but I could be wrong... I didnt really read over all of the patch notes.

Not sure how many of you know about this... But I just found out...

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now my victims will not know what my attack will be though I attacked them with one method five minutes ago! :D

My crafter doesnt have to keep 700 points crammed on template, just in case he needs to use that skill that day..now I can run him with 500 points and room to train or swap quickly and easily.

You would be correct. In my opinion, it would be very unbalancing to reward folks with soulstones unlimited uses.

Cool, I love that, now I can drop tinkering and carpentry on stone when I not use them and still get access to them a few times a day.
Tina Tink may add a few skills useful for monster killing

Not true. Unlimited skill points would be all skills on template at once, fully trained.

We are still bound by the 700-720 skill cap, so that argument is invalid.

There is still a 2 minute cool down for using the stones after fighting, so what is the issue?

The only real issue I see is people using this to their advantage to get a 6 focus, then getting weaving off of stones to use. They could do this multiple times a day, instead of the former once per day.

I agree, the decision isn't ours to make whether they stay this way or not.

If they do change them back to 24 hour cool down, I will be forced to buy more stones to keep empty so I can achive the same effect. ( which puts more money in EA's coffers )

How is it unbalancing? It seems to me to put those with less stones on more of an even tier with the more wealthy amoung us who have enough to swap thier temps around. Why should any of us have to have a bunch of unused stones WE EITHER PAYED FOR OR EARNED AS REWARDS just to be able to make use of OUR skills WE WORKED FOR?:thumbsup:

Case in point I only had one stone available ona the tamer spart upgraded tonight but was able to swap his template back to what he wanted to run rather than what i was running on it at the time; this involved moving more than one skill. Job completed and Spart was able to get an intitial tour of some of the new stuff.

This really is an all win, no lose scenario.

Oh wow... Thats really awesome. I can put crafting skills on my main and not have to worry about not being able to go do something if it comes about! Excitement!

Now... just to have the soul stones. Hope it lasts.

True enough a person can carry those Soulstones in the backpack, but...
you have to use them in a place of safety...a room at an inn, or bank, or at
a house you own, or friended to...never upon the field elsewhere. I guess there
will be more guild house fighting!

Try using those Soulstones in a dungeon or out of town away from a place
of safety...do they still work?

Already had a handful of stones... The removal of the timer has nothing to do with gimplates... It does not do anything other than allow you to change your skill more often....

Expample Lets do a spawn. Ok man I'm going to go throw on my necro template. Ok I'm bored with spawns... I'm going to go put my pvp template back on wow that was awesome... I was able to farm and then go back to pvping and didn't have to wait 24 hours....

Man I need to go steal the towns np I will get right on that let me throw stealing on real quick and go get them... lets pvp ok let me take stealing back off....

This does not allow more templates. It just makes playing the game enjoyable... Being able to do much more than just one thing during a 24 hour time period is a good thing...

And another thing. If you are in combat you cant use the Soulstones for two minutes. You must also be in a safe log out location to use them... Inn, A house that own or are friended to...

Care to explain? Because I honestly don't think you have a clue about what you are speaking of.

Because like I said... The skill cap is still the same this does not allow you to go over 720 skill points...

There is a combat flag timer of two minutes...

You must use the soulstone in a house that you own or are a friend to...

When you do swap templates a lot of things come into play as well...

Uo Macros must be changed... Uoassist Macros must be changed as well...

It's not like you can just run into a house throw on a crazy template and be out the door pvping in 10 minutes....

Yes you can swap out your entire template but after that... You have to make several changes... So you will not be good to go for about 45 minutes...

Not to mention that each template usually has a unique stat configuration. Stats still take days to get back into alignment.

Imagination is one thing, people doing it is another. The obvious benefits are, well, beneficial. The horror you see might become reality, but until then I don't think you can know for sure.

Awful side-effects are possible, but if they're improbable, so much so that they aren't used, then that's not a problem.

I could be out the door PvPing in under 5 minutes after a template switch, but that's nothing I couldn't do with a lot of stones. I can see both sides. This won't affect PvP directly, but I'd say there should maybe be a 2 hour delay. If it were 2 hours, I'd actually bother using them unlike now, but with no timer, I can do anything I want without even thinking about it.

Yep you can still only gain 15 stat points a day... So it's not like you are going to be going from playing a mage to a dexer in 45 minutes...

Well hell I would be happy with 2 hours... but **** 24 hours that cuts into a lot of play time...

Presumably, the more dramatic the change, the longer the time. And I think it's only the dramatic changes that are going to cause concerns?

I think it would be pretty cool to keep. There have been so many times that I only need a skill, say lockpick, for a matter of minutes... then I'm stuck with it for 24 hours... booooo!
On the other hand, EA would never go for it because it would probably eliminate some accounts. You could combine some of your characters essentially. All of your crafting skills.... put them on another character. You would have to purchase more stones to do this, of course, and you would have stat changes, but it could be done.
But, that being said... I think it would rock!
The convenience of having the availability to change out skills as needed.... amazing! :thumbup:

I guess it's sad that a guy that hasn't played Siege for five years has to point out the obvious:

If this change were permenant, you might as well open up all six(?) character slots.

Same thing, ultimately.

Huh? Its not like we already do not have access to multiple skills on a single character; this is just allowing us to access them a bit more quickly and make the most of our game time.

I sure as hell wish we had soul stones back in the early days, I would have every damn weapon/ combat skill on my mage if we did since I rotted them all out and wound up ditchign them to change with the times on several occasions.

Thats silly. It is not the same thing. You still have one character of the one race of your choosing. If you had six slots, you could make two of each race, 1 red human, 1 blue human, 1 red elf, 1 blue elf, 1 red gargoyle, 1 blue gargoyle.

As it is now, you have the options to use your skills, but you are still limited by race and hue.

I saw somewhere on this thread or the other Soulstone thread comments about people closing accounts because they could do it all on one character now... true, they could, but the aforementioned things still apply. I will still keep my second account and convert my blue crafter to a gargoyle, and train him in some fighting to harvest leathers and resouces.

My red Human, Nightstalker, will remain, still unable to buy from NPC's or rez at many locations, though he has all his skills availbale to him in a moment.
