I am well within the rules. houses do not fall for 90 days. you want to ridicule me for playing by the rules? frankly, go F yourselves.

trolls like the 3 of you is why this game has gone down the tubes. you all have a bad attitude and it is dispiriting.

furthermore, there is simply no disputing the fact that the old account management system was simpler and more informative. if you want to be apologists, go right ahead. doesn't change the fact that they removed features and made it more complicated for people who have been playing this game for 10+ years.
I'm sorry but aside from the first reply, no one was ridiculing you. Instead we were telling you to remeber it on your own. If suggestions of how to work around it is your idea of ridicule I'm sure we can readily apologize for trying to give ideas.

Uhh, doesnt sound like you "have been playing this game for 10+ years" to me.

Sounds like you have been manipulating this game for 10+ years, no offense.

People actually "playing" the game have active subs.

And no matter what the "rules" may be these paying players deserve the best house spots IMO.

@OP

Actually the new system is better then what most have experienced from UO.

You will have to migrate your account(s) first. assign them to one email. I think your allowed to do more then one email now. Then pay to activate them. Once you do that just remove the billing info. It has the date you paid on. Write that down and then you have it.

Can't really blame EA for this when the migration has been done for a while now. It's your responsabilty to know when you last paid for the "just in case" scenarios just like the new account migration. Yes some are still having issues but EA can pretty well do anything they want since they own the product. Be glad they still allow a 90 day timer on houses. Read stratics a little more to keep up with the issues.

Call this post a troll all you want.

No one scolded you for not remembering. Just telling you that's how you will have to do it from now on, lol. Guess you're just trying to take out your disappointment in the new system on everyone. So sorry for trying to tell you how you might have to do it now.

I can speak freely about the new migration system as i was unable to even get access to my own accounts for quite some time.

Let me first say this is NOT a severe problem nor is their any point posting about it on Stratics as Migration was done by another department of EA who know nothing about UO or probably Mythic for that matter.

You need to address this 'problem' with EA customer support.
You wont get any love here as people on stratics are passionate about UO and quite frankly you are the sort of 'player' nobody likes.

If your passionate about your UO account and house then simply just pay each month and dont play. Atleaste then your putting into the coffers of the game and not just hoarding a piece of land on a game you dont even play.

To be honest i hope they lock this thread as its just a Troll and has NO relevence to the game orpeople who play said game.

- I feel badly that you felt attacked, ridiculed and scolded.
Heck, I haven't even looked into the new account management yet; my credit card was auto-billed last month and it has the date of payment all nice and prettily noted on the statement. I believe what some of whom pragmatically answered you might have been suggesting was that: until you figure out a better method of tracking, why not simply look at the trail of your account payments and then you will know when your house timer is up. I'm pretty sure it is not up to EA to tell you the history you had with UO when you have not currently paid to see it.. (I like to gripe at EA, when warranted, but I don't gripe at EA when it has to do with my responsibility and not theirs). Another option: pay for your account(s) and no worries. Aye, hope this helps.

again: the old website had the information FOR YEARS.

I ask why it isn't there anymore and I get ATTACKED and scolded for not writing it down, when I had no reason to believe it wouldn't be there in the first place.

it speaks volumes about the character of everyone who has replied to this thread.

one word: APOLOGISTS

with that, I bid you riddance
LOL. I did not troll you. Go ahead and say I did. You are mad because you dont know and it's EA fault.

The EA migration people dont read stratics so the complaint is pointless. I told you how to do it. The only way you are going to find out is migrate your account then pay a month. Then you have your "date". Then you have your bloody date. If 13 dollars is this big of a deal then I dont know what else to tell you.

Let me add I dont care if you pay every 90 days. Not my money and it is your money and account and how you deal with it. I was offering you some advice on keeping up with any changes. Meaning you should check UO site and stratics site regulary for any changes that may affect your account.

@Slayvite. Dont speak for me and clump me in a group that I am not affiliated with. I dont know him and have no reason to like or dislike him. I dont care if he pays every 90 days or every month.

I migrated my accounts as EA requested and theres just no informationi its all blank.

Under your master account make sure the proper account is selected under your pull-down menu.

Jesus man, settle down. I do the same thing and I didn't write it down. Since house decay is off right now anyway it's not a big deal. Once it comes back on pay the 11 bucks for a month and write down the date when it expires.

And in closing the whole opening your account for a month every 3 months to keep houses on accounts you dont actively play thing isn't part of "the rules". Everyone who does it (myself included) knows (or should know) it's abusing a safeguard system. It was never their intent that it be used the way it is being used, and when you aren't paying, you aren't a customer.

So because I have 10 accounts and 10 houses (7 active, 3 non) I am manipulating the game and dont deserve my housing spots?

This thread isn't about you, its about someone else who from the sound of it doesn't even have any active accounts, just one or two that they don't play.

Well no, but if you should lose a house on an account you aren't paying for or playing due to your lack of forethought while abusing a system never meant to be used to keep a house up while not paying for it 3/4 of the time, then no. You did not deserve that house spot.

I have one account I hardly ever have active that is 90% a house holder, and another I often times have inactive for many month periods, and I do the every 3 months thing too, and if I were to mess up (as I have almost done on multiple occasions) and forget or make some other mistake that ended up in the house falling, I would accept it was my own fault for working an account safeguard system to get a mostly free house.

Don't kid yourself. Once your account is closed you have no rights on any data related to it. They could just delete everything the moment you disengage, or monitor the system to prevent people from having house holder accounts. Be thankful the system is lax enough to be abused.

I'm not surprised EA chose to implement the new system. Blizzard did it with Battle.net and Steam has been that way for some time - I suppose all the gaming companies with multiple branding is going the way of a "master" account setup.

4. a credit card or bank statement does not indicate the date the account went inactive, as some of you have suggested. it only indicates the date EA billed me. the reason this is important is because just this year we were granted free gametime due to the migration, thus there is no way to know the exact date except by noting the date previous to the account going inactive, (I assumed it would still be available information AFTER, again, no reason not to believe this) or by calling EA. (which I will do)

so, naturally given all of these facts I was caught off guard by what happened and I feel I have a legitimate grievance. just because all of you want to change the subject to whether I actually play the game w/ this account does not change any of these facts. many people maintain accounts to hold houses and do not play characters on the accounts.

so, thanks for nothin' and good luck in your efforts to kill off what little there is left of the UO community.
No, credit card statements don't tell you when it when inactive, but it tells you when it went active. Add one month to that and there ya go. That coupled with the emails you get when it closes helps too. But you know if you were just looking for a rant you could have just said so rather than getting pissed off at every person replying, be it a nice reply or not. And honestly, the only person killing off community here is you. You have some helpful replies here and you ignore them only to insult good intentions.

Quite honestly the new billing has me in a frazzle, I cant figure the bloody thing out as for when i can turn off any account. My son said he wanted to shut off a spare we use and it gave him the info that the account will automaticly loose all time left and no refund bla bla bla.

Now you tell me if this stupid system is better? Old system I could see when i needed to turn off or on an account, the date of original activation, the publishes i have added, and it would give me a choice of to end now or end at end of billing.

The new system - fustration in use that makes one not wish to use it. If I who can be called a die hard uo player am ready to call it quits I can yet imagine the not so dedicated players with this. They wont need to restart the decay... if they do I am seriously thinking you will see the mass exodus that has happened even on Atlantic. I am expecting big gaps even there if it does. Alot of you are going huray! but come on. If that many houses fall .... now do you get the drift? We were bad off before the management changes, after will be more depressing.

ok, as I described above, that is not the case.
Yes. The "free time" was only about one week. Being off by a week wont kill you. If I pay for one month today, the 19th, my credit statement says it was payed on the 19th. Add 30 days and there, my deactivation date. As in the past I also get emails of when my account went inactive. If you care about your houses so much ignoring the free time from the equation wont kill you.

Doesn't sound right. When I chose to shut down one account a while ago (after migration) I didn't loose the remaining time and I wasn't prompted for anything. In fact it DOESN'T give you the option to shut down the account while forfeiting your time. It automatically ends at at the end of the billing cycle without asking you.

So not really sure what your son is talking about.

again, no.

in fact, they haven't turned off house decay yet. as I said above, I didn't realize that at the time, making this entire discussion moot.
Look Papa K; I think it boils down to this: People who play regularly don't seem to have much sympathy for those who pay every couple of months to take up valuable space on the server. The system is in place, so I don't see how it can be knocked, but I believe it has something to do with the 'spirit' of the system, not the actual execution.

Rather than take offense, I think you might just want ignore the posts that you don't find helpful. Responding opens the door to rebuttal and the cycle continues.

Seriously you are wrong or your son is wrong. You pay for a 30 day billing cycle. Once you remove the billing, say if you paid today for the account it is good for the full 30 days. You can play on the account or not if you wish. They have to close the account when the full 30 days is off.

There were many issues over the years way before the "migration" that people were leaving. Oh it seems like a ton of players were hit hard at first but many have gotten fixed. Now some are still having issues and I feel for them but to make it sound like this will be the killer of UO if it's not fixed in x amount of time. UO is well known not to be 'TOP" priority at EA. Thank Mark Jacobs for saving it when he did or none of these conversations would be going on now.

The migration issues is small and petty compared to what happened to the japanese players with the earthquake. They had a time limit before EA brought back house decay on them. Earthquake>migration issues and about how long did that last before it was back to business for UO in Japan.

I have played War and DaoC and had a master account before the migration. This new system is the same. It is not hard to follow and it shows dates. I seriously have to facepalm over this.

No, it doesn't. All I said was credit card statements show when you activated and all you had to do is add 30 days if paying for one month can tell you when it went inactive and if a few weeks of gametime might throw that off it won't kill you if you care about your houses. Maybe you need to cool it and stop reading every single post as an insult. It seems to me your confusing simple comments as ridicule.

Funny, but I thought that when your acct is due for payment ,if you don't pay you don't play.
So, Correct me if I am wrong, If you choose to pay only once in 3 months ,your house might not fall but you don't get to log in either for 2 months.

Failing to recognize any points in this thread explains why you are constantly thrashing out and why all attempts to help you find multiple ways to solve your problem have been met with inane rants. Most perplexing of all though is why this thread has been kept open so long.

However here is a straight forward answer to another issue you have which is not understanding my sig: Magic: The Gathering - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yes, I like the MTG. And I don't care if anyone has a problem with it :)

I believe that EA Customer service, such as it is, is geared to paying customers. When your account is inactive, you are not a customer.
That may be a simplistic view, but in this case it's what applies.

I now conclude that this thread is a

and will therefore apply
