The whole point of this lotto is to remove a large chunk of gold from the game. This is a much needed gold sink, the only shame is that it's only 2k per ticket and that players can only buy 1 of the 10k ones.

It's looking like I'm going to have to put the rest of my eggs into a different, less desirable plot. I think that the people bidding are buying enough tickets to get their odds of winning a plot to a certain level.
So, it would seem that it would be in my best interest to buy tickets as close to the end of the auction as possible.

Sure, they take an event wasteland and convert it into more housing spots creating another prime location near a gate and bank (malas / tokuno). Instead of making it free for all, they implement a method of removing a ton of gold. Do the math on the larger servers for ticket cost and tickets purchased and its in the billions they removed.

Real Money Trading = people paying real money for virtual stuff.
RMTs doing this pisses me off A LOT. Like I said, I was a tradespot broker for a while, and a broker on my own. I would NEVER have done something like this even if i was selling gold for cash. It's wrong on so many levels.
Well, I think I figured out how they are doing this (I verified that it works). I don't want to post the details here to encourage other people to do the same, but there is a way to create accounts to buy tickets with and it is 100% legal.

PM Mesanna about it, or Cal, or somebody at EA. Maybe open a ticket with a GM as well just to get it into the system.
It's probably too late at this point to do something, but maybe it can be prevented in the future.
This is exactly why they waited until the end of the lotto to buy the tickets in mass quantities. That way by the time anyone caught on it would be too late to do anything about it other than delaying the lottery even further, which would upset a lot of people.
From recollection, a dev said that those 30 day codes are exempt from all trial restrictions such as placing plots.
So if you use one of those 30 day free codes from an old UO box1. It is perfectly legal
2. You can place immediately and not wait 15 days
So get out all your old boxes...

Not worth it. Believe me, I have a supply of something similar and it's not worth the cost. Using 40 such accounts to give yourself a reasonable chance to win 1 northern plot on each server, when only the GL and Atl plots will sell for more then 30M is a net loss.
lol, best guess, is it is someone that trades accounts for cash and useing active ones to gamble on plots! no cost involved there, buy accounts cheap sell after but while hold script all non built toons for other shards like spinning slot machine but payoff is a bonus!!!!!! plus they trade sell of gold but bought with idea of selling at .50 so they have it at maybe .2 per dollar so can waste some

No, that requires paying for at least a full month of gametime. Not gonna be worth it. You'll make a profit on Atl and GL, but you're losing money or breaking even at best on the lower pop shards. I'm referring to something else that isn't free, but has a lower cost and isn't limitless.
Also. I don't doubt that there are people with 40 or more accounts. Buying time with gametime cards, scripting, selling gold. It's not going to put your kid through Stanford, but it will probably cover your monthly expenses living in eastern Europe. Until the devs get aggressive with stopping this, you've really got nothing to lose.

The websites that sell stuff could probably make a lot more off the plots than $650. Just check the websites after the drawing, see if they are offering plots all over.
Does bottle selling work anymore? I thought they nerfed that. Still...
50+ accounts or 50+ chars? lol 50 accounts is a lot of chars...
It's very hard to stop a scripter. Some scripts will even attempt to pick-up items that are blocking a path.
It just makes me so sad that everything in Sosaria is boiled down to other-world dollars and cents. *shakes her head sadly* I hope people will not support them by buying these land plots.
They should have just limited the amount of tickets anyone can buy for a single plot and allowed the user to buy them all at one time.
I've never been a fan of stuff like this. People who work many hours in r/l can't get as much/many as those who play UO 24x7. In this case many people want these plots but can't dedicate the time to buy tickets over and over.
Limited numbers, Buy all one sitting. Then so what if they script it? Everyone retains the same chance.

In case anyone is wondering...
In case anyone was wondering, What HD2300 posted is correct. The old new account codes were able to buy tickets and they also came with 30 days of free playtime so there was no payment required. I have several sheets of 7th Anniversary codes and that is how I tested to confirm that it would work. The scripters most likely had stockpiles of buddy codes that they were using to create multiple new accounts. This should be addressed in any future lottery opportunity.
Looks like the lottery worked as well as the time they tried to auction off the formerly Owned by OSI Castle on dagger island Pacific several years ago...

Scripter? so you saw them selling goods for real money(script)? or you think someone is running a automated or illegal program while away from key board? and you guys recommend what? blocking in game movement? actually the only thing wrong by uo rules above is illegal programs and blocking movement of char in game. And I can not tell from here if a illegal program is being used. but, in my oppinion most like my self are not qualified to determine that. however blocking movement and talking about it especcially in stratics is a bannable offense. once caught blocking you will be gone so I will say bye to all of you now. cause once you are caught you are out of here.

Hey guys, those emails that we sent to Mesanna bringing the scripter to her attention and giving her the link to this page, and the pages to the GMs, we should take those back, we might get in trouble rolleyes:I will say bye to all of you now. cause once you are caught you are out of here.
They were simultaneously scripting across several shards and were witnessed by several people. If you don't have a problem with scripting, well I don't know what to say. I've encountered many who don't have a problem with it and it still boggles my mind, but we are entitled to our own opinions.
Scripting goes on all the time, this just happened to be a major one-time event that was caught, tested, and tracked by the Stratics community. Whether the scripters are banned or not, never let it be said that UO players don't care about it.

Double post.
I wonder, since this was a RNG thing, supposedly, in order to win 73 plots across all shards, how many accounts, paid for, had to be used to participate in the drawing with such a turnout ??
Also, since 1 house can only be held by 1 account and if they do not place the deed will become inactive by its expiration date which is 30 days from Lottery start, does this mean that they will need to have 73 paid for accounts (730 bucks a month) until the Houses get sold ?
If so, perhaps it would be wise for those willing to buy a House to wait until the very last days because either the deed will expire and the plot will be up for free placing OR, prices will drop down dramatically because the owners will not want to pay the 10 bucks just to hold a House there........
