Downside to making it sell like a reagent, It starts at 20.
They were at 500 in quantity on TC. Not really an issue though, I imagine it'll be at 999 almost constantly for weeks.

I bought all 20 of the Saltpeter. It's been about 20 min and it hasn't restocked. I'm the only person on the island too!

They changed it to the reagent style because the price kept going up. I guess they forgot reagent style means limited amount to be sold.
The only Alchemist that sells Saltpeter is located in the new Docktown.
Yeah, its up to 80 as of right now on GL.
This needs to be sold by EVERY alchemist in the game in quantities like the potions are for cannons to be even remotely viable as anything other than ship decor.

So there is one alchemist who sells saltpeter in fel, and he hasnt restocked since server up. i cant get it off any other alchemist in the game. How the hell am i supposed to continue on with the expansion? Anyone found a way to get around 1000 saltpeter?

That makes sense as a bug. Alchemist starts with the saltpeter but the bug does not restock him right. Oh well they will fix the restock some day.

It will increase to 999 if it acts like other reagents (I think it does!) you just need to be there when it respawns.

Napa is up to 180 spawning per spawn.
I was able to buy at 12:00 noon, then at 12:38. Hope that helps. I have bought 580 so far.

So the new expansion hits, people run out to do the new stuff... and all end up standing in front of a vendor for hours because vital materials are only sold on one NPC in the game in small quantities.
How was this deemed acceptable in the first place? This is one of those questions like "Who besides scripters was expected to do community collections?" that no EA staff member will ever touch because it's indefensible.

Having said that, I now have to ask how on earth this happened? We told you guys about this in beta. Repeatedly. There are still a number of threads with posts saying that this would be a MAJOR problem on the shards if it was left as is. And you still left it. You gotta listen!

All other items can be acquired either through purchasing it regularly at shops or can be made. Not sure why saltpeter had to be so special that it can only be found in the sea market. Why not make it accessible to all store alchemists or better, an alchemist creation. If it's exclusive just to the sea market, please just make it an unlimited supply so that everyone can use their boats and cannons, not just a select few who are hording this item up.

way to slow to spawn they need to sell it more then one place been waiting for ever now

Sadly though it is not enough, I have for 6 hours how tried to get some salpeter and cannot get one.
Hopefully there is a better fix for this issue soon! I want to fight me a pirate and my guild wants to have some ship to ship combat!

Going to the Fel emporium, killing all the blue NPC's and trying to kill my friend, who was there buying for me probably isn't the best way to go about it. Just sayin'

Doesn't solve what's going on. Howabout selling saltpeter at *every* NPC alchemist in UO. Yay. Problem solved. Having it for sale only at the emporium doesn't add "mystique".. only frustration.

Still just one Alchemist on Lake Austin's sea market, Trammel.
It's bought up to 999, but since the stuff weighs 1 stone each (another oversight, devs? Or, meant to discourage buying more than you can carry), after splitting 750 between myself and 2 alliance members, I gave the last quarter of the pile to someone who showed up looking for some, 10 minutes after it was bought out.

All calm down about salpeter. Mesanna has placed new alchemists at the Sea Market. They still are camped by a certain guild on my shard so you have no chance on buying some. But just wait 5 days and thins will calm down. Soon there will be enough salpeter for everyone.

GL has 3 alchemists and they are camped, and have been ALL DAY.
The few people I know who bought the booster aren't happy with the fact that they can't actually USE their shiny new cannons.
Saltpeter needs to be an unlimited supply on all alchemist NPCs shard-wide. There is no reason to restrict it to the sea market, unless annoyance is now 'fun.'
And yeah, this was mentioned in beta as an issue with all the other bugs that mysteriously managed to get past the crack QA team.

They should simply have made saltpeter like gems, spawn in batches of 500 and instantly respawns when bought.
This is 100% correct, I can't believe they didn't think this out before releasing it.
Yes or more stacks per vendor like the faction reagent vendors have two reagent stacks each vendor, i think it should be possible for 5 stacks salpeter per vendor
