hiyas Grimly!
since ive been playing fps for a bit, on and off...
usually theres a visual quality slider and options menu/sub-menu, sometimes very technical
ie 1st menu is for easy users, and theres one to 3 sliders that adjust quality on the graphics..
the advanced menu goes into much more detail such as max shadows, filtering, etc..
would it be possible to somehow incorporate that kind of control over asset usage?
-low setting would basically be 2d and no bells and whistles.. maybe cut back on animations/frames , or pixel count, or resolution..
-high setting would of course be all out , with animations up the wazoo, and for those with high end systems, uo-sa wouldnt choke
-medium would be a little of column A and a little of column B, with most basic animations plus a few extras, etc
not really sure if it could be applied to uo or if im even making sense,
just plainly, one client but it can be scaled to the users preference
reason for this is that, im kinda partial to 2d for its crisp finished graphics, and the last experimental client i tried was the KR one, which looked unpolished, choppy, and lagged.. i mean most things looked cool.. but in terms of functionality, ie doing a bod run every six hours, quickly and efficiently., or like right now, popping in to get the shadowlord, would be unfeasible since i had to hunt and peck at the items i needed and graphically, it seemed counter intuitive.. whereas in legacy 2D uo, its WYSIWYG
also, one thing that turned me off to KR was that menu windows didnt stick like in legacy, like the health status bar for your char, reappearing where you last left it, when you logged off.
I know.. some of these things might have been fixed, but im hesitant to even try till i know these have been looked at
hey you.. stop reading my post and go have some waffles! ...
