Unless it's GM only.. I've been trying all day in Luna, had no success with over 10 would-be victims, then started eating my own poisoned food with no effect.

I think the poisonous effect resets if you stack them back with more steaks, cause they get a new ITEM ID, Also another reason might be that they were stacked to begin with.

Try a Single steak.

When was the last time you noticed it working? Some ass on UHall said it was "fixed" that way because people were using it in Trammel.

Poisoning food wasn't my main reason for wanting to train it.. it was just a fun side benefit.

Still works for me. I tried it in Malas with deadly and GM poison on. I poisoned a cut of ribs and an apple. Nothing from the ribs but the apple made me sick as h***.

If it's a specific food type that would be lame.. if it's a skill level that would also be lame. Glad it still works, somewhat.

In my mind it should work just like a poisoned weapon, no matter the food.

I agree, poisoned food was used in RP ages ago quiet a bit. I remember in the early 2000s, on baja some of the RP guilds would have events, and poisoned food would be put out to kill the leader of a guild, and incite an RP war.

Seems like a silly battle to chose.
It's the small battles that win the fight. We can all agree on this I hope, even most Tram/Fel players.

You wouldn't have posted such a blatant first response if it didn't mean something. Yes this crap means nothing to those prepared, but it adds an element of risk and "don't eat food off the floor" to all of us.

"It sure as hell" better mean 'risk vs reward' and not "Trammel for the win over Siege!"

A long long time ago, there was a player with the template:
Cook, Alchemist, and Poisoner. This mass murderer cooked up
a pile of food entirely poisoned with DP. I seem to remember he
had a bounty of over 1 million gold. When Trammel came into
being...it was found you can not stop the poisoning of food on
the Trammel side. Of course food could always be poison on the Felucca side
and then moved via Trammel stones...<I told you this was a long
long time ago>. Regardless, the poisoner would be given a murder
count if the person eating the food died. And, usually guard whacked.
You could not train poisoning skill without leaving a pile of food some
where... yes, there was not always those trashcans at the bank.
Sometimes thieves would steal food and eat them and suddenly that
blue goes grey and then whack!
It became necessary to stop the poisoning of food, since a piece
of food on the ground is so inviting morsel. No, it is not a bug that
you can not poison food. Live with it.

Don't be an idiot and eat the food, problem solved and your logic on the matter has just been shattered. Back on the main topic, poisoned food for all!

If you poison food, and leave it laying around, you deserve to go grey. Train poison in your home, or at the bank, and use the trash cans, or barrels.

Now the fact of going grey at a later point, its your fault. There is no safe guard for going red in tram (it was part of FoF a while back), so why cant we have poisoned food that makes people go grey? You left it laying around, your mistake.

As far as nerfing it, fine. Do not allow it in the tram ruleset, unless your are warring guilds.

From there, it should be allowed in fel. And thus siege

While I suppose I'm now speaking for all of Fellucca and not just Siege.. this is a major disappointment to a new poison trainer. I never expected to kill anyone with my food except for newbies.. I was waiting and watching the whole time.

If the UHaller was right in saying this was "fixed" to avoid Trammel kills, then it was not ever fixed, and done in the most horrible way.

Especially on Siege, I find it hard to believe people would support such a nerf.. especially the first responders who said "It sure as hell used to.".

This still seems to work. I poisoned some food with deadly poison and GM poison skill. I logged in on my crafter. The crafter ate the food, and the first piece poisoned him. I did this in Malas, outside of the guard zone. I will try this later in a GZ and see what happens.

I was one of those victims ! :)

One of the very first QZ death's on Chesapeake back in the day, as a newbie was eating a tasty morsel of deadly poisoned food ! I was horrified and amused at the same time. :)

I quickly learned though, to never again, eat any inviting tasty morsel off the ground.

Try a gm chef made gingerbread cookie.

I even posted HERE do not eat my cookies if ya see em on the ground only buy em from the CHEF's vendors if ya wish to eat em cuz someone was dping my deceptively cute gingerbread... COOKIES ! :)

Worth a try anyhow !

I remember a time when poisoned food had a certain percentage chance to poison the one eating it, did they take that off too? I would have to eat maybe 3 or 4 pieces of poisoned food before I actually got poisoned.

lame!

I had a friend on Atlantic who set out a hundred newbie kits and said,
"Come and get your free Newbie kits."
Thirty seconds later... the shard crashed... from excessive Guard whacking
of the victums' friends trying to save their friends stuff from the looters.

Oh, by the way...the friend did not get any murder counts or got whacked by
the guards.

The online GM backed up the server... two hours.

My friend spent some jail time...

In terms of the issues I find important to UO, I would agree.
However changing the code and not announcing the change is troubling
EA is doing that very often now

I'm pretty sure I read a UOThief story wherein Chad successfully poisoned and killed a fisherman in New Haven. Obviously, it worked at one point in time.

It even mentions you might get poisoned lol. Really old add from when I was a kid. I remember seeing it regularly for a years (in cycles with others), like from 14-16 age. Just came to me at work, we were talking about old songs, and such, and bang it came into my head lol
