Man, I remember dying to deer! Who dies to wolves and bears anymore, let alone deer? The basic problem is that with every expansion the equipment got better and better, and characters got more and more powerful, while the mobs all stayed the same.
Paladins should carry nasty magical swords and armour, and use them, and they should have skills over gm for fighting and chivalry. I don't care if the items can be looted or not, just make them more powerful, and make them much more expensive to hire, or make it so they can't be hired. Perhaps they should be mounted.
All of the mobs need to be reworked, from top to bottom, including wild animals. Wolves, bears, cougars and panthers, should be a tough fight for a new character, a very tough fight. The a.i. needs to be completely reworked. Weak animals like deer, birds, rabbits, etc. should run away when you attack them, or even come near them, and they should move fast. Wolves should hunt in packs, and get their pack damage bonus.
No one should be able to solo any of the peerless or Doom bosses, or any of the champs, ever. Far more monsters should be using magical items and weapons when they fight, and should have skills up to legendary.
