I remember when I started and the SOUND of a gargoyle would make you run the other way in terror. You knew when you heard that you were in some deep cak cak if you didn't high tail it the other way. We also use to have guild nights where we would hunt level 5 T-maps and we would have 8 to 10 turn out and we would all happily die time and time again (many to my surround cursing WW that would then attack guildies). The challenge was there, but you have to remember, the reward was too!
1k gold back then was a HUGE amount. I remember working my ASS off to raise the like 145k gold it cost to place a large marble in a two week period and people being absolutely astounded that I could raise that in two weeks!!! It was hours and hours and hours of work every single day so that the loot gotten from monsters actually had a REWARD aspect and wasn't such a paltry amount that you didn't even bother to loot it as it usually is now... All of this needs a major revamp and I miss the monsters that posed a huge challenge. I use to love to pit my fighter against savages and barely squeak by with judicious running, healing, curing and run by swattings.
I vote for more complexity of game play (not game mechanics) and LESS nerfing of the monsters...
