Please give us the ability to create a guildstone again. So much community was lost when they were taken away. I know they were a pain, when a house fell the GMs had to move them. Now that they can be turned into deeds that problem is gone.

Please return a little bit of Ultima Online history to us. How does a community rally around its guild button?!?! :twak:

This would be wonderful....And yes I do remember trying to add a title to a new guild member....That part could be improved.

People rallied around those stones in the old days. It was the focal point of our guild and a certain pride was felt at its placement. There is one I'd dearly love to have back.

To be honest, I think the new system is far better than the old one. Guildstones would be nice to make, admittedly, although many original guildstones still remain so nothing was taken away as such.

I think there are plenty of better things to ask for; such as allowing a guild abbreviation and a profession title in your name!

They new system is far superior....however, having said that, I still have the old FCB Guildstone at our HQ...it would be nice for newer guilds to have one as a token.

auctually lets improve it... Since everything can be done from the guild menu make it so the guild stone has to be out in the open, and in Fel, for guilds at war or in factions and can be stolen. There could be some good battles if a rival guild were to steal your guild stone.

That isn't a bad idea.

I wonder if this could be done in fel.

Any faction that owns all the towns controls the spawns. every time a boss monster in the spawns die an item of significance goes to top guild in the factions treasurer with an inventory of all items given on the faction stone and guild stone. If the guild stone is stolon then they get nothing.

Bringing them back would be nice, But keep the option of adding people to the guild via the menu. Some occasions it's a hassle to gate people to the stone and guild them.

Oh yes definitely keep the guild button but also let us access it through the stone or even just to have the stone so we have a place in the game. My other option was to just engrave a tombstone.

Simple solution:

Let stonemasons craft guildstones (and yes, give them a unique look so that the existing ones aren't devalued).

And then, when double-clicked have them call the same function as clicking the guild button on one's paper-doll after doing a quick check to see if you belong to the guild that it belongs to.

Yes.
Lots of stones to make this and let it retain the color of the stone.
Take stones to a NPC master stonecrafter and for a fee they will make you one from your stones. 100 stones and 100k gold
Must already be in a guild and when new stone is made it marks it for you.

And then, when double-clicked have them call the same function as clicking the guild button on one's paper-doll after doing a quick check to see if you belong to the guild that it belongs to.
Keep the guild menu in the paper doll like it is.

I think it would be nicer that when you dbl. clk. any new guild stone that it shows you the people in the guild and thier rank. That way you know who to talk to, to join a guild.

I think that if they were to bring them back that they should function exactly like the current menu. Im more in favor of them for the deco significance of the stone as it pertains to the guild name.

Lets face it, only a handful of guilds gets a monument placed outside their communities. The least we could do is let them have a stone or plaque or something representing their guild.

Actually, I like that idea for people who aren't in the guild.

So if you're in the guild, it can bring up the same as your paperdoll -- I just like this idea because I liked managing my guild from a stone.

If you're not in the guild, it shows you names and ranks (and even titles) of those who are in the guild.

I agree. With the rules we have today and the number of open housing plots even on highly populated shards - they should bring back the old guild functions.

Just my two cents, if you want guild stones to have meaning, they need to be able to do something that you can't do through the guild menu. I'm not sure what that would be.

Perhaps you can only set the guild charter through the guild stone? Maybe you can only declare war through the guild stone? Maybe the only function the guild button should serve would be to recruit, and view the list of members?

Whatever it is, if you want the guild stone to be more than just deco, it needs to do something that you cannot do anywhere else.

As far as the stealing guild stones. Perhaps guild stones should only be able to be placed on the steps of houses that are public. They could then have a sigil on them, like faction sigils, that could be stolen by a guild you are at war with. You cannot log out if you have a guild sigil on you, or enter a house. Stolen sigils can be placed around the base of a guild stone, perhaps two on each face that is showing. If your sigil is stolen all enemy sigils you own are automatically returned to their home guild stones.

Every enemy sigil you have at the base of your guild stone acts like luck for all members of the guild, for all kinds of scrolls, when you are doing champ spawns, or treasure hunts, under either the Fel or Trammel rules set, and improves your chances of getting power scrolls, stat scrolls, sots, scrolls of alacrity, and maybe even forged pardons.

To lessen the chances of abuse you cannot have characters on a single account in more than one guild that is at war. If war is declared by a guild all characters belonging to an account that is already at war are automatically removed from the guild, the war lord receives a warning along with a list of the characters that will be removed if there are any characters that fall under this rule at the time of declaring war.

And now that I think of it, this could be the thing that guild stones do... :D

This!

I would add that when nonmembers double-click the stone they get the member roster with ranks AND the guild's charter, website (with a CLICKABLE link), faction affiliation, allies and war status. Just like when you search a guild on the Herald. All of this should be available in game.

Absolutely... great additions.

As for those wanting the guildstone to have "more" meaning, I'm not sure how you'd do more meaning without them causing problems to the overall game world. There might be a way to add sort of a Capture the Flag system to them for use in guild wars, but honestly, there's a couple of issues:

First, anything that you can place outside of your house would be an issue because then a bunch of schmucks would certainly use them in order to screw with the game environment, no matter the best intended design.

Second, if they're placed inside a house, then there'd have to be a pass over on the house fighting code, because obviously you'd need to be able to fight inside a house and go in and out without having issue of getting the "flag."

I'm not against the idea of giving them more meaning, I'm just not 100% certain of a good route to take with them.

Well isn't there supposed to be a certain number of clear spaces in front of your house where no other houses can be placed? Maybe they could be placed in a zone there that would be highlighted when you double click the deed from inside the house or that clear area. Then the only mechanical stipulation there would need to be would be that it would have to have one clear tile all around it.

It would obviously require some work on the code, but I don't think the obstacles are insurmountable at all. I just think the suggestion I made would give guild wars some real meaning, and bring pvp into Trammel, which would be fun.

To continue on with this idea. If you declare war, or accept a declaration of war, any other guild can subsequently declare war on you without needing your consent. This is to prevent friendly guilds from easily being able to declare war on each other to gain the advantages of enemy sigils. You can surrender at any time, which returns all sigils to their owners and ends all wars for the guild that surrenders.

What about the ability for a guild leader to set up quests on the guild stone, such as ( Your guild leader wishes you to kill greater dragons, the first member to kill 10 greater dragons will recive 1000000 gold )
(A guild member wishes you to collect 10 crystal shards, the reward is set for 1000000 gold)

If im the one setting up the quest, then I can transfer the reward to the stone say 1m gold, If im the one running the quest I can return the quest item, to the guild stone, or have the creature kills count off like a normal quest would.
This would be a way for a guild leader to give her guild a chance to earn gold doing guild quests, and give guild members a way to post items they are buying such as crystal shards as used above.

PvP guilds could have quests like, Kill x members of said guild, ect, ect.

And you could make it a gold sink... So if you want the reward to be 1 mil then you would have to put in 1.5 mil.

just have a separate guild house, don't personalize it with your own crap and your guild will be able to use it as a rallying point. we always did this and it worked great.

I agree with this, I'm all for guildstones returning. I like the idea of a unique graphic as a guild that I am in has managed to retain its guildstone. It would be neat if they could come up with different graphics for the stones anyway, for good/evil guilds.

Are any of the devs even reading this thread? Can we at least get either a "yes this has an upside we might consider considering it" or a "Hell no you guys are idiots, it will be a cold day in Hell before we waste our time on something this stupid". That way we know someone is at least looking at it.

But,

The most important request of the re-introduction of guildstones is changing the graphic to distinguish them from the older generation of guildstones that are in existance similar to the way the DEVs implemented a change to seperate the old Ilsh treasure maps from the new ones.

signed...

however, a clickable link on it might lead to problem websites....

If i remember correctly, couldnt you click on the stone & put a request to join a guild? (sorry as its been a while i cant fully remember lol)

Id say a diff look also & can only be gotten by the gm of the guild...( a new one can be gotten maybe if the old one is voted out?) & you could only see like 5 pages of the guild members names, so the new system is better that way! I love that you can now add ppl using the paperdoll guild button!

Having all the use of the stone as on the paperdoll would be cool, also adding back in the request to join...

We lost our old guildstone due to a stupid mistake and would love to have it back.

It should offer the same features as the current guild menu (without replacing it), maybe with a few more options implemented to encourage the use of it and bring back the old feeling a little..
