Plate/Chain/Heavy armor in general! IDEA!

So heavy armor, metal wood whatever needs a buff other then 1 more resist pts per piece over the lighter armor.

I was thinking give it some kinda damage reduction like the swamp armor gives. Or simply give each plate armor piece 1-5% (depending on piece) kinetic eater that doesnt count towards imbuing intensity.

IT NEEDS SOMETHING!

Problem is now, everything has properties. There's no sense of "realism" when it comes to the weapons and armour post-AoS.

I guess it's a case of either like that, or lump it.

It would be neat to see plate make a comeback.

I can't remember the last time I saw warriors running around in full plate.
It's been a long, long time.

I remember when for a period, it gave huge protection over the other stuff at a penalty of stamina.

Maybe that could work again. Resists over the current 70 cap for the price of a little stamina loss to balance it.

I don't know. But it does need something.

It would be neat to see a Dev comment on the continued existence of this and other types that are now useless. Roleplaying seems to be the only need now for a whole lot of things.

Seeing a small group of role-players heading through Ice dungeon, all wearing GM crafted armour a couple of months back... near brought a tear to my eye it did.

Sadly for me, it's one of the key reasons I crave a classic shard option. Sorry to offend those anti-classic people by bringing this up, but there we go, wave your pitchforks all you like...

Literally, I wouldn't have such a problem with a lot of the post-AoS item changes, had they been implemented properly and some form of continual and working pattern established.

As it is, every "new" change that comes, renders something else obsolete or worthless. Quite frankly, I find the game in its current state, a mess.

Sadly, the one thing that's inherent in any game that chooses revolve around item-centric content, is the need to bring out new items and content, followed by more new items and content... so on and so forth.

The net result, is that we have a "world" that's like looking into a wreckers yard. Plenty of examples of the bygone years... items, skills, dungeons, etc... but most of them worthless now.

What I would ask, is once the masses are bored of the latest fad of imbuing, or of exploring the latest content areas such as Ter Mur, The Underworld and The Abyss... what then? What next?

Another expansion that renders the previous one and its content obsolete and worthless?

Hate to say this but everyone was wearing plate armor not too long ago, just happened to be SE armor...... you know, the medible stuff. Hate to say it, but until you make plate armor medible, your never going to see any of my chars in it.

This'd be simple, and similar ideas have been offered over, and over, and over, and over, and again.

The devs don't care about plate/leather realism.

Lord knows I care about how realistic my armor is as I cast recall into my house made of waterfalls....

It just so happens that I focus mostly on RP in UO, and I and the whole community of rpers would like to see some kinda 'realism' to the armor types...plate giving better protection then leather etc..

Plate is still in use, it's just a lot fancier now than it used to be....

UO went from Renaissance + Magic to Rainbow Elves + Sparkles. It's another reference. You know, children love bright colors. It was necessary.

I've been running around the Great Lakes shard for the last few days in a full set of Valorite Plate Mail. GM Crafted. The only consession I have made to the Item driven madness that is Post AOS is Soul Seeker...I don't even remember where I got it, but it was in my bank box. Yeah I probably won't kill anything stronger than an ogre lord or titan, but hey, whatever floats my boat right? Besides, I don't venture into Ish, Malas Tokono?, or whatever Tel Mur is (I didn't get the SA expansion), I play UO as if it were a classic shard. Now if only they would give me a real true to life classic shard, I'd re-activate my other 2 accounts and life would be grand.

It's great to see that some of us still don the plate.

I'll admit my chars on Napa have upgraded with the times but all my chars on Drach are old school, still running around as 7xGM wearing the vintage stuff :)

In regard to a classic shard, that would be awesome.

I only started using chiv just last year. It took me that long to finally 'get with the program' and now my napa guys are all 120 yada yada.

But I would so love a classic shard where my good ol 7xGM swordsman/archer can be what his skills make him rather than what his freaking jewerly makes him 'seem' to be.

I kinda miss the old days where without magery (or chiv) I had to get around via foot, hoof and boat.

This new stuff has made me lazy. Or is that virtually lazy? :)

I'm not knocking the new stuff. It has it's good points but I would so love to play on a classic shard as well just for the sheer feeling of accomplishment one would get like back in the old days.

I see a lot of people knocking this idea but I think they fail to realize that a classic shard would be an addition to UO and in no way effect the current shards.

You can pretty much still fight in pre-AoS gear if you limit yourself to pre-AoS mobs and areas. I remember back when I started some guy solo'd a balron and it took 2.5 hours of jousting. My buddy and I had to cross-heal to take on a liche.

Maybe non-med armour could get a natural boost to resists that stacks on top of whatever else, and exceeds the hard cap up to a point, vs monsters. Perhaps a boost to the lowest resist on an individual piece. A system of trade-offs for studded/ring/chain/plate/scale. I don't know. This whole math thing is what got us into trouble in the first place.
