Hello everyone,

I have a old Friend coming back to the game after 4 or 5 years and he has several accounts we are sifting threw right now. I know the armor and spellbooks that says crafted by are worth some money but was wondering what else is. Whats worth keeping and selling and what need to be tossed. He has several items and weapons that have clumsiness charges on it and , double durability and things like that, can anyone give a rundown on what really to look for that he can sell off to get started again?

thanks

Solar

One example I have is a helm that says " An Eival Orc Helm" , its light gold in color and has Str bonus of 10 and a negative Intel and Dex of 10 but it has no clumsiness charges or any other charges on it that might account for the negative stat on the helm. Any idea?

Evil orc Helms you loot off of Orc Brutes, they are not rare im afraid. Still obtainable.

The helms you loot off the orc brutes now also have the -10 to Intel and Dex?

Do you really want someone to list the 1000+ items that are worth something that your friend *might* have? Seriously? Dude, just have him do research. I'm amazed by how many people come to this board with a list of like 50 items that need a price check, it seems like they have never heard of the search function. I hope they are not too shocked when *no one* responds with any price checks.

Do research and come back with a list with what is left that you can't find any info on. People will be more inclined to help you if you have already put in effort yourself.

Are you serious? If you read again all I requested was a general idea of what to look for and as you can see i did not list 1,000 items, and another thing, This board used to be reserved for price checks , buying and selling of rare items and I'm pretty sure it sill is. If you dont like the questions people ask , dont answer them and dont be so cruel about it. thanks for ruining my post.

Sarsmi is right I am afraid. What use to be is no where close to what it is now. Since EM events started 5 years ago there have literally been over 1,000 items that are now considered rares. Not counting server births, Seer items, Rubbles, Holiday rare items, SA new artifacts, SA environmental drops. So your comment on what "Generally" to look for is like walking into Walmart and ask what should you generally shop for. We can't even give you an answer.

Take out the obvious.. holiday gifts, vet rewards, server birth items etc...

What was asked is what to look for. There are obvious things that are or are not rare. Are there certain properties on items that do not spawn anymore. How about the way a crafted item is 'labled'. If you are a tinker and you make a diamond necklace and you use a stack of 50 diamonds.. Is the necklace going to say A Diamond Necklace, or will it say A 50 Diamond necklace? UO patches more often then most people buy new shoes. I am sure there are things that used to be capable that are no longer capable that would put it into a rare/unique status depending on the shard no?

A few things I found in my banks that have me really baffled.

The first of which is a lantern. However it does not say a lantern. It's description is nothing more then

Of Exceptional Quality
Exceptional
Weight: 2 stones

Sorry i've no screen shot tool yet otherwise I would post the pic of it. But it's a lantern.

I also came across 2 different necklaces of agility. The first just says "necklace, agility charges:12" the other "necklace, agility charges:5, Dex Bonus 10"

My "420 Diamond Weddingband" thats 1 ring

I think the last thing is. I have lots of various crafted items (weapons, armor, tools, clothing, etc) that are either ... for example..

Sweing Kit and A sewing kit of Exceptinoal Quality
Exceptional Exceptional

I think I may even have

A ___ of exceptional Quality
Crafted By ___
Exceptional

What matters more when it comes to the rarity and or value? The way it is marked? Or the specific marked item?

And yes, I am the one the original poster was speaking about.

Thanks for any input.

OEQ items (of exceptional quality) are in abundance, they were available twice in the course of their lives and the second recurrence lowered their value a bit. That would have been for a few months in 2003 I think. Anyways you can find them from 25k upwards of a few hundred k, depending on the item, depending on the shard. I'd say on a busy shard an OEQ lantern might go for 100k but I don't really deal in those items. And who really knows with today's prices...

Multi gem jewelry does not go for much nowadays, there is tons of it. Anything under 10k gems is pretty much trash unless it has sentimental value or you find the one guy in UO who hasn't bought a piece yet.

Items with charges are still plentiful and generally do not sell. Exceptions would be some of the bless items that use non useful slots like the earring slot, though my memory is hazy on if there was bless jewelry or if it was confined to armor/clothes. I've heard of some of the 90 charge bless stuff going for 1m. Generally if I find the prepatch AoS items that give stat bonuses or even invis/teleport stuff I just dump it. Not worth trying to sell it TBH.

My "420 Diamond Weddingband" thats 1 ring
People seem to think weddingbands go for more but I have yet to see evidence of it. I'm sure the drug reference would interest someone. Maybe get 100k for it, maybe more?

The examples you gave for the sewing kits:

A _____ of exceptional quality
exceptional

etc

I sell for 25k apiece on Baja. This stuff siiiiits on the vendor till some xsharder or the odd collector swing by and buy most of it up. I'm sure on busy shards these things will go upwards of 250k apiece. This is not the super rare nice stuff though.

The super rare tag has exceptional in [] brackets. Pieces should look like this:

A Crate [exceptional]
Exceptional

If I had to estimate there is probably 1 piece of this type of item for every 100 of the other sort. Possibly even rarer.

Runebooks sell well on Baja for 50k of the first time (A runebook of exceptional quality) and go for 2-3m or thereabouts for [exceptional].

Clothing/armor doesn't do as well as items unless it is the rare variety in a nice wearable slot. Non rare but older tagged clothing would be "A tunic of exceptional quality".

Rare armor would be "Chainmail Leggings Made By RedDevil [Exceptional]". Rare clothing would be "A feathered hat sewn by Sarah" and

Sandals [blessed]
Blessed

Sometimes they might be

Body Sash
Crafted by Victorias Secret [blessed]
Exceptional
Blessed

Or you might get

A Floppy Hat Made By Julieanna [Exceptional] [blessed]
Blessed

Sandals seem to be the most common thing that are double blessed, but they still sell well since the foot slot isn't often taken up by anything else. So something wearable that doesn't take up a valuable armor slot will sell better than something that does.

Color can matter. I have a double blessed pair of lep boots (very dark nearly black color) that are worth 10 times what they would be if they were just double blessed boots. Lep boots still have value even if not blessed, so keep an eye out for those.

Some items ended up weird during the AoS conversion. Like they will have lines that say "1_val" instead of how many charges of whatever they used to have. I have a studded bustier that says "valorite studded bustier" that got converted because it was the same hue as valorite and got converted that way. I also have "A Robe" and "A Faction Robe", both wearable.

If you played just past AoS there was one month after it launched when you could make clothing with the "green" tag. You had to have barbed leather selected when making clothing. It was just a novel bug and nothing worth really exploiting at the time (especially since I think that was when they stopped making it so bone armor would be hued so a lot of us were trying to collect our sets of that). As it turned out later, "green" clothing is able to be dyed by ToT dyes, which made it a way to get paragon gold and invuln blue etc colored clothing, and it's value shot up.

So "Green Robe" etc go for 1-2 mill, and sell better unblessed (dyed then cut up for the cloth and remade).

Ok that write up took me half an hour. And that was a really small subset of rare items that you might or might not have. I hope that illustrates my point that we need some kind of direction and a show of effort in order to be helpful. Aaand maybe makes up a little bit for me being so brusque. :p

Sarsmi thanks for the information. That does help clear things up a bit on which things I need to set aside and which I need not bother with. When I find the specific items that have the [exceptional] I will prob post for price checks.

This was mostly just to try to get an idea of what may or may not hold value and not necessiarly what thier exact value is. granted shard to shard you can never tell what an actual value is.

I do have 4 pairs of the double blessed sandles 2 jet black, 1 darker red, and 1 greenish/brownish set. These are all I beleive the sandles that came from the npcs (mostly escorts.... yes I made my own version of GTA-UO lol)

I have 1 double blessed tunic that is dyeable.. currently its red.

I know I have several rune books that are marked/tagged and or [exceptional]

When you say lep boots? Are you talking about the boots from the lepricons from either the late 90s or early 00's St. Pats event? I may have 1 or 2 still as I have a huge bag of clothing that I am trying to figure out which is noob clothing and which is not and some of the boots did look like the ones from the lepricons but I know most of my valid event rares went with my tower while I was gone.

I also appreciate the mention of "valuable slots" I know I still have earrings that have invis and other properties on them so I will put more emphisis on the earrings rather than rings and necklaces. Do spell relfect charged items still draw interest from people?

Also on that note, I know when AoS came out it messed with the items that had bless charges.. There was a short time before they had fixed it that we did run around with like +80 to each stat.. that was sure fun on a pvp thief ^^ . I ask because I still have 2 peices that say Str Bonus 10, Dex Bonus 10, Int Bonus 10.. The item does not have any bless charges. Does it give the +10 bonuses still? Like the necklace that I mentioned... They both have charges, but one spells out Dex Bonus 10.. the other does not and I have not been able to find a clear answer on 1. if you get the stat bonus if there is no charges.. 2. if there are charges and also spells out the bonus, if you get the bonus after the charges expire.

I know most of what I have is not going to go for millions. However 25k a pop adds up quickly and I am just trying to unload my stuff as I will be going down from 6 accounts to 1 account once I finally get everything sifted through.

Some others also pointed out searchuo.com to me which was not around when I last played so that is helping me some with at least finding out intrest levels.

In your experience would it be better to try an auction house for things like full sets of marked double exceptional items (like full set of an exceptional barbed leather crafted by X, exceptional) rather then putting individual pieces on a vendor. Likewise with perhaps a set of marked crafted items (exceptional - sewing kit, saw, tinkers tools, etc) and stick with just items that are [exceptional] as individual sales?

On my shard I know I have full sets from names like Levi Strauss, Victoria's Secret, and others that were around years ago. Does nostalgia or sentimential vaule of a name really matter much though?

Thanks again!

Double blessed sandals seem to go for around 2-5m on Baja. Black are pretty common, but of course black goes with anything, so they're always fairly saleable.

For double blessed clothing wearable with a full suit of armor I'd say 5-8m.

3-5m for the [exceptional] books.

Lep boots are leprechaun, yep. I can't remember what these sell for, a few mill I think for a regular pair and then I think I heard 50 or so for double blessed.

You can check that newbie clothing by trying to sell it to NPCs I think or use item ID on it (will return with no value), should also have no value when you place it on a vendor. It doesn't seem to have a high value, but I always found it handy to carry a newbie dagger and scissors.

Also on that note, I know when AoS came out it messed with the items that had bless charges.. There was a short time before they had fixed it that we did run around with like +80 to each stat.. that was sure fun on a pvp thief ^^ . I think an item that doesn't show charges still has them and will run out. You can test it by wearing it during server down and casting nightsight a bunch to "wear out" charges. If it really doesn't wear out but gives the bonus, then thats a pretty crazy item to have. I don't think I could put a price on it.

In your experience would it be better to try an auction house for things like full sets of marked double exceptional items (like full set of an exceptional barbed leather crafted by X, exceptional) rather then putting individual pieces on a vendor. An auction would be good for high dollar items as long as you put a minimum bid limit on the item. But the house might take a percentage of the sale, not sure how that would work. Having a luna vendor can be great for selling off stuff, but vendor costs are pretty crazy nowadays so you may still have to advert. A non luna vendor would mean lots of advertising at peak times to try to get your stuff sold off before you get hit by vendor fees.

I didn't notice what shard you are on. If we're talking atlantic, great lakes, pacific then you can do a bit more than 25k for "a sewing kit of exceptional quality". Probably 100-250k, somewhere in there. You can group stuff up in bags but that might not do as well as just pricing individually.

Again thanks for the information. I am currently on Sonoma but going to make a move to Atlantic where my friend has been at. This is mostly why I have been on the boards asking about various things. I have not even begun to worry about my templetes just trying to sort out the whats what of what I have in around 30 banks.

My Tunic I referenced.. Tunic [Exceptional] [Blessed] Blessed

I have 3 last questions I hope you can answer.

I have noticed a difference in how items appear. Some things begin with "A" others do not even if its the same item. I guess this applies to even the potions. I am curious as to if it matters if you have something with the "A" or not.

With the potions I found out that they stack now. They did not stack when I left. However I get 2 types of potions in my banks and inventories. For example I have "A Greater Heal Potion" and "Greater Heal Potion" they will not stack together but they will stack with the same name. When the "A Greater Heal Potion" stacks there is no number in front of it but it shows 2 stacked together and the weight is the number you have stacked.. The name however still says "A Greater Heal Potion" instead of say "5 Greater Heal Potion".

The last is that I have a backpack in a bank with 2 items in it (horse shoes and silver wire) that can not be removed. The backpack weighs 513 stones. I forget which release came out where items got stuck in bags. I want to say it was when trammel came out. I had another item that was stuck in a bag.. but since it went with my tower..I wont go into that one.

Thanks again!

I'd move to atlantic then sell, but you might want to advert on the sonoma trade boards before you go, since I know there's a few collectors on sonoma and you might get some nibbles for your stuff there.

The tunic, hrm. It's nice, I really don't do clothing wearables (I collect them but I don't buy or sell them) so I'd really not want to pin down an exact price for it.

For the "A" thing that's just varying tags and usually doesn't matter too much. I did notice the deal with the potions, there are quite a few discrepancies with them actually. You can get old potions that say "an orange potion" or old full kegs that only weigh 20 stones and can say "a keg of orange liquid".

I just can't sell the weird "yellow" etc potions, dunno if thats baja or what. Stuff that is curious but not really highly desired is the category I would fit this type of thing in. Which means you can put it out there, and one day you'll get lucky and someone will think that it's neat and will buy it, if it's not crazy priced ("crazy" pricing varies by shard). I was doing 25k a pair on Baja and no takers for weeks. On Atlantic I'd have done 100-200k. I'd price "A greater heal potion" where it's multiples at less, since I think that sort of thing is a bit more common. But again, you never know what will strike someone as novel.

There's good news and bad news for your items stuck in a bag. The bad news is that you can't chop backpack style bags anymore, only the round bags you buy from the provisioner NPCs (and crates and other wooden containers a carp can make). The good news is that you can still get some $$ for them and may even be able to find a way to get a Gm to stick those things into a box for you. It's not something I've ever had a GM do but I know that other people have paged GMs and gotten them to put those types of items in crates for them when they've already been chopped inside their house.

So there may be a way for you to finagle things. As in page GM, give them two boxes and say "please put these things in this locked down bag in a crate each". Someone else may be able to shed light on how to get this to happen.

As far as pricing, the very common item (statue) in a box goes for around 1m. Lanterns and stretched hide a bit more. Wire and horseshoes would be a few mill each I think. I believe they are not common box items though not super cool like 2 story statues so should sell ok.

Therein lies the problem. I have to get up enough money on Sonoma to transfer a character (and some additional skills) to Atlantic. So I have to sell off enough to afford the transfer. I agree though from what I have seen Atlantic has a better market than Sonoma. So it's just a question of which do I need to hold and bring with me..

Again thanks for all the info you have given me.

Transfers can run upwards of 20m (and more). I try to get them for 17m on Baja here and there. Since your skills might be a bit rusty you could focus on making money in less skill-intensive ways.

For example, if you are around in the mornings (like 11 AM CST) you can camp idoc houses and sell off the loot for profit. These are very lucrative and only require some time to hunt for them then grab and sell stuff.

Another way to get money (if you have SA) is by growing plants to turn into dyes. You'll have to obtain silver serpent venom from the silver serpents in Ter Mur and then have an alchy who can turn it into color fixative in order to make the dyes, but if you have an alchemist and a way to get the venom then you're set.

You can still grow the plants if you don't, and sell them to someone who makes dyes. Likewise you can grow the plants till they have a full set of seeds on them (8) and in taking the seeds off of them you can get a seed of renewal 1 in 25 seeds. Those sell for 100k+ apiece. So gardening is pretty lucrative these days, which is nice.

If you don't even want to do that much you can run the naturalist quest to obtain special seeds and sell those to gardeners.

I'm guessing you might be a thief - there are lots of new SA stealables, and if you don't have SA then you might check out the fan dancer dojo and doom, since those seem to be less picked thru now that we have a new dungeon to steal from. I got the saddle on Baja a couple weeks ago (3m or so) and titans hammer last week (5m). I don't even check but once or twice a day. The academic books in Bedlam can sell for a few mill as well.

If your fighting skills are rusty and you want to work on them you can fight mid level monsters that drop the colored hides and work up skills at the same time as you collect those resources. I sell hides 1k regular 15k, 1k spined 40k, 1k horned 50k, and 1k barbed 60k. It's not a ton of money but it can add up.

Those are just a few ways to make money (off the top of my head) that don't involve you immediately meleeing a peerless or doing champ spawns or anything that might be initially too difficult for you to get into. There's lots of other opportunities for making money besides selling off your old items that you might want to look into to supplement your sale income.

Yes, I am WAY rusty with how to survive in the current settings. I have ruled out 3 accounts and am now trying to decide which of my remaining accounts I move someone on. The problem with 6 accounts is I don't have everything "i need" on just one account. So I am leaning toward moving my gm tamer (always good for making money with low costs) and was going to transfer over some of my GM craft skills to begin new characters on the new shard. The problem is your right. I do like my thiefs.. which of course are on a different account from the tamer. So I plan to move 1 with some extra skill. Then repeat the process on the other account.

Luck is on my side however as on one of my accounts. I did find a full Happy Valentines Bag on Atlantic (where I am moving to) as well as some young player tickets and even 1 or 2 of the old match this serial number tickets. Those though I am not certain off hand if were on Atlantic or not.

I just for the life of me do not remember what the options were on the young player tickets. I want to say the wrist watch (not holiday time peice), random ranger armor, and original black dye tub. But until my friend gets home, I can't turn one of them in to see the selections. Which reminds me, some how I still have a character on Atlantic that is in [young] status which for an account that was started in 99 is pretty interesting I thought.

Finally... Can you still make Sea Serpant Armor? I found a full set in a bank and do not remember it having special graphics (which is does now I guess). Only the helm has a makers mark on it. Just trying to figure out if still obtainable or not as I already filled up 1 house going through the accounts.. Guess thats what I get for placing only a small building.

And now I just need to learn how to put a screen shot into a message so I can start to move a few of the things

You'd use [IMG.][/IMG.] tags but without the periods. Need to take the pic then upload it somewhere like photobucket then put the link between the tags.

Sea serp armor set 750k-1m
Full V Day bag 1m
Wrist watch 500k+

A full set of ranger armor (5 pieces) goes for 100-200k or so
Black tub 100-200k

I don't remember whats in those old tickets either, lol.

With an advanced char token (14m or so) you could do up a tamer fairly easy, they'd just need a couple of pieces of taming jewelry to be useable then you'd train them a bit each day to get them where you want.

But without using a token it would be easier to rebuild the thief and the crafters than a tamer.
