It is any significant moment that makes a person proud of their accomplishment.

Today, as I was coming very close to completing my collection of Tokarty majors. I wondered what were some of the accomplishments of the people of Siege. So out I went to investigate this question.

Great on-the-scene coverage Sloan! *claps*

I'll bite on that question..

On Siege my "I won UO" moment was when I won my first duel. I was floored as I had been watching soooooo many duels for so long while I slowly trained. And afterwards submitted myself to constant insta-death's upon entering any arena in the land. It took everything I had in me to restrain myself and not do a little *happy dance* around the ghosty out of respect.
That heart pounding moment was my "I won UO".. followed up by approximately 12 more losses.

I don't think I've ever had a moment like this. I was excited when I got my first (and only) artifact in doom and when I got my old crafter to 120 smithing, but I definitely didn't feel like I won UO.

Well it's just a saying really...don't take it too literally.
I guess a better way to say it is to call it a "WOOOOHOOO" moment

I have a couple of those...one was getting my 120 blacksmith scroll...and another was killing Otis the drifter on my crafter teeeeeeeeheeeee

Ok, I have a couple woohoo moments then...those above and, ummm, I was pretty happy when I finished Alamore's Template finally (and again last night when I finished it yet again). Someday I'll get the 120s I need and then I'll be very happy. 8)

Mine was when I finally gmed magery/med/eval for the first time. I think it was sometime in the first part of 1999. I worked those skills for months and months. Filling my house up over and over with elementals to gain .1 an hour in magery. Using eval over and over and over on monsters and animals to get that elusive .1, and lowering mana to that sweet spot so I would have a small chance to gain a .1 actively using Med. Those were the hardest skills I ever worked and it felt like winning UO when I hit that 100 mark.
Smithing was probably the hardest of all but I wasnt actually able to gm it til after powerhour went in. So the last 10 or so points went by pretty quick compared to the 90 before that.

The good part was, after all of those months I could actually compete with just about anyone on the shard (I already had swords/tactics), since it was skill based.
I still have that Char on Pacific, his name is Tark Rumbar :). He is a bard now, but, I never play there anymore.

That's how I interpreted, Sloan. The day I really believe I've "won UO" it'll be time try a different trade such as crafting or something. *blinks* Guess I'll never "win" I suppose based on the that logic.

I have had a few of those moments over the years of UO.

The first one was gming tailoring while the ophidians attacked downtown Delucia ..then GMing archery on the same ophids ..knight errants. I was like Woooohoo I WON UO !

Another big I won UO time was when us *newbs* kept dying to the old worlders whom kept pking us all. We were not united ..I united us all reds blues you name it on Chessie and us newbies all united sort of like the uo class of 98 verses the uo vets of 97 and WE KICKED some major old uo vet butts and WE ruled Ta2 lost lands ..sweet savoring our victories ..ah memories !

I won UO when I was in CoM and the Shadowlords invaded by land AND by sea..and I helped us all keep all 8 sigls for nearly... a week *no sleep* haha fighting and all that ..I felt I had won UO, in CoM that time.

Killing my GAME EX 25 times over cuz he a liar and thus cuz he ticked me off .......... he HAD TO DIE over and over every day till I quit being mad !! I WON UO ~ haha

Killing a FRIEND of 4 solid years of trust, that robbed all my vendor homes blind of every thing in em.. and having myself and the entire shard of *chessie* also kill his arse like 1000 times over for..betrayal...I felt I won UO. hehe

Anytime I gm anything..I won UO !

Anytime some jerks on any shard do all they can to somehow try to be pains in the butt as if they want you to leave..but YA DO NOT LEAVE till you wish to and not due of anyone else's stupid behaviors..and..that is winning UO.

Being still entertained by the silliest dorky things the dev. team slaps into the game like a mongbat giggling, or some new place to explore, ..it's fun so long as ya still remotely entertained by UO..that is WINNING UO.

Huh... well, I haven't gotten an "I won UO" moment with the character I have right now. Probably won't, either, until I finish her storyline. But... on Sonoma, I was a major trammie. A stubborn lil' trammie who loved being a swordslinger (this was after she was made originally as a crafter) and refused to give into a template, despite everyone telling her she was an idiot. I think that the first "I won UO" moment came when I started soloing dragons, using just swords and bandages, while all the "templated" people around me wouldn't go after them unless they were in a group. ^^ A'course, then the stakes went up, and I had to conform to a template just to keep up with everyone that was going all Super Saiyan with Chivalry and Necromancy.... (God, that metaphor hurt me....) But I still love the pride I earned from that.

I had a second "I won UO" moment, too... the one and only time I ran the Gauntlet was also a pretty good one. With true beginner's luck, I landed an artifact, which I (of course) refused to sell and keep on my character to this day. =^^= After that, though... well, there's not much to do, once you have a character that can kick ass in Doom. ._.; That's when I stopped playing UO for a while again, and I didn't come back until I started on Siege. I dusted the character off once, to test her out again... but damn if I couldn't pull it off. After you've been around Siege, the other shards just aren't as fun. :3

I won UO when back in the day when dialup was the norm.. and I solo killed two cable connect mages. oh ya.. BIG WOOPIN that day..

I won UO when I GMed a smith (back when it took ya forever)

I won UO when I made my first million on a warrior killing earth elementals.. (now that was a chore!)

I won UO just a few days ago when I saw my enemy hiding in the corners of Shame dungeon, afraid to unhide.. and he had to call a red in to TRY to kill an unarmed tamer with no pet.. That really made me laugh and think.. "Oh ya.. I win!"

I also win UO everytime the "Great and Uber" pks with there leathel poison or artis get disarmed by me until they get bored.. and leave. That always gives me a good laugh and a grin.

Let see...
I won UO first when I finished GM resist on siege when it was near impossible to get.
I won UO when people would pay me not to kill them when I was in the Wind Elders guild.
I won UO when I joined AaA and played with arguably the best pvpers that the shard has ever seen.
I won UO when I obtained my castle near brit.
I won UO when I got the first and only valorite runic on siege ever.
I won UO when I won the tournament of champions on siege.
I won UO when #scrolls did the first lord oaks and then harrower.

I dunno been there and done that. Crafter... Homeowner... Pvper Done it all been the best. Nothing left. I have no idea why I play.

Winning UO...

Getting a computer better than a P2 400 mhz to play UO on.

Playing with Pika, learning to pvp like a true fighter.

Winning some insane battles against the odds.

Making many good friends, including sunF, Pika, Dagashi, Will X, Corwin, Gwendar, Nym, Bof, Feyre, Devore, Adonis, Renn, Vaniir...and many others...

Becoming an accomplished dueler.

Finally getting all of the +25 stat, and +20 scrolls I wanted for my chars (6x 120 mage)

Owning all of the artifacts I had ever wanted, realizing I didnt need most of them, and selling them for a pile of hundred dollar bills.

...Now, winning for me is playing when I can, winning a few battles here and there, and setting/finishing goals.

I dont have to pwn someone with leet pvp skills or get the best Doom arty to win.
I win UO every day when:

*whenever I help someone else have a good time in game
*whenever I help someone else accomplish something they thought they couldnt do
*whenever someone smiles due to one of my actions in game
*when I make a new friend
*when an old friend returns
*when I make a friend in game, who becomes a RL friend
*when at the end of the night, I log off and have enjoyed myself

Siege moment:

When I stumbed across 2 Red, fully armed, UND around the time paragons came out, while stealing with 2 ee's set to attack in tow.

I thought what the heck, ill mess with them a bit, and sicked them on one of the guys. He was looting a paragon, tried to heal (but not run for some reason) got inturrupted and died. I was stunned, so I thought hell lets go for 2! Other guy ran around a bit, cast some spells , but got trapped between a rock and hard place (my hidden body!) and fell as well.

Needless to say I was nonplussed, as these were two fully capable players both killed by nothing but the heavy fists of my elementals. First guy was just dumb, second really unlucky.

My finest UO moment though, was on Lake superior years ago:

It was around the time disarming came out, and disarm thives were just starting to kick some booty. I had stolen some stuff from some random shirtless dip wad, and his rightous friend came seeking vengance upon me. We tussled for a bit, I stole his backup weapon and bandages while we did.
I then let him chase me into a house, disarmed his last weapon, and stole it.

I thought that the humliation of being killed with his own weapon was to follow... but much greater things awaited!
Once he realized he was unarmed totaly and out of aids, he made to run away, but some how went through one of the vendors in the house, accidentily trapping himself between the wall and the vendor. Then, deftly, I darted in front of his only outlet of escape! Just in the nick o time!

Realizing he was trapped be started to try to joke his way out of his prediciment as I pummled him barehanded. No chance! It was his self made pot, and I would see that he stewed in it well! As the blue life bar seeped down to red he began to beg and plead, like a simpering maid, but I merely cackeled and continued to rain down blows upon his bloody dome.

Well, eventually it was more than he could handle. The last words he heard before the big left hook that rocketed him out of his body and into the monocrome of the netherworld were: "Do you realize you may be the only player to ever be brought, from full to zero health, in an actual hostile combat, by another player's bare fists?" (Paraphrased for flair)

Needless to say, I was roaring with evil laughter IRL. I can say truely, that day, UO was won for me. A moment to cherish and take pride in to be sure.

When I met Falcon, the old Yew Guildmaster, and Greg in Oryx's houses' shopping area. They were pretty much the first people I met on Siege and they took me into their guild. It started a long and great career on Siege and the meeting of a whole lot of friends and set off even more adventures! I think Kush is the only one left who still plays that was originally in Yew... Besides me, of course.

When Zen gets owned every night, then they hide in their house cause they hate losing their loot. Then accuse me of scripting, LOL, hel gets so mad when he dies, then I loot all his armor and he logs. Knowing he is at home kicking his dog. Thats the feeling of winning UO.

Ah, now there's a question.

I felt that I won when an attempted murderer lay dead at my feet, a short two weeks into arriving on Siege, and having nothing but low crafting skills. The large sum of money I gained from that also helped, even though it has been suggested since that he was a known roleplayer and helper of newcomers, who often gave gold in that manner.

I felt that I won every time I guided, brought, or told any newcomers how to survive and prosper here, or helped them in any small way.

I felt that I won when I slew my first paragon, also with my pitiful crafter's skills and a bit of magery.

I felt that I won when, after spending an entire afternoon battling a paragon dragon, the beast finally died (even though it was probably of boredom!) and gave me a chest.

I felt like I won, not to mention extremely humbled, when you were good enough to vote for me in the story contest recently. Thank you all!

I felt that I won each time I was able to donate a decent supply of items to NEW. I felt humbled when I was asked to join again, and help in a more official capacity. I felt that we all lost, in recent weeks, but the key is to keep trying, and never lose sight of the finish line, even if you're a blind crafter. And, I'm glad to say, that I feel as if we're all on the road to winning again.

I felt that I won when, after a long period of very poor health, caused by a horrible 'incident', I was finally able to read my messages, on these boards, and others again, and found a huge number of people concerned about me, caring about me, and even sending get well gifts to me. This community is what makes me have a 'WOWWW' moment, and it happens more regularly than I can keep track of.

I feel that I win, when I help you to win. Thank you for helping me to feel like a winner.

Actually i was in YEW for a good long time.

However i left when Yurian left and falcon took over, due to some disagreements with him over the direction YEW was headed.

Zoltar , Taron , Mirenias and I all left at that time, and ended up playing on the europa shard.

Actually my first 3 months on siege gotta be my winning UO time, fighting a new formed UND and SC all day long.

Or the day we helped get the guild SUN, another bunch of danes, banned for dupeing.
Quickest response from a GM i have ever seen, took him 5 seconds to get there, another 5 to ban them , and the server got reverted.

hehe the first time i won UO was the first (and only) time i escaped from Belni, the gm of a detective guild on europa (i couldnt be bothered to gm any skills apart from anat and wrestling, as they were easy to do).

I had been killed so many times by members of her guild while i was out and about, and by this time was able to give most of them the slip, i basically just legged it from britain, halfway to trinsic while stun punching/trying to hide and stealth etc, before eventually managing to get a recall off and making my happy escape to vesper...very nearly dead :)

apart from that, i win uo every time someone makes a bad remark or a snotty post about me... it is good amusement for me and my peers :)

Let's see my "win UO moment" would have to be.... these!

This is when I owned Malas! *grins* Incidentally it took me and Otto hours to drink all that water and move all those barrels! *laughs* but we had nothing better to do while waiting on an IDOC we was helping to guard.

Self explainitory picture *laughs*

First demon I ever killed solo! (before I GM'd anything but anatomy)

And this is when I finally GM'd the last skill I was really really wanting!!

And Yeah I'm such a tard that I actually captured all these moments with screenies!! *grins* You know cause I wanted to member them for like... EVER! hehe
