That's what I call an "offscreen godmode". The most powerful skill against mages in UO and it cost zero (0) skill points to do.As a mage i Adapted, but I'll admit, i sure do miss Rubberbanding..
Not that I'm doing bad now, but it did seem like dexxers were easier to fight with the Old System of Casting Movement.
Instead of this Cast Interrupt X 100, Finally get a Combo off, Offscreen after explosion, Come Back at Full HP, Repeat game..
If thats what hes talking about it's due to players holding a lantern. Do NOT reinstall UO, as there is nothing wrong with your client.Or the OP may be experiencing what I have been since the start of the newest quest; when ever anyone stops moving around me they slide across the ground for two or three more tiles, I've noticed myself doing the moonwalk when I stop also especially when mounted. Its a recent development and nothing I've done seems to fix it, I am holding off on reinstalling the game for now, and have sent in a bug report about it.
I don't think that is the only instance that happens. If thats what hes talking about it's due to players holding a lantern. Do NOT reinstall UO, as there is nothing wrong with your client.
If other players is holding a lantern or a torch, when they come to a stop you will see them "moonwalking" on the last tile for a few seconds. Its normal.
I understand that. Hope they can make it to where everyone plays at the same speed no matter where you are. good luck to youWell the movement changes are being worked on, so that will probably be chnaged...
However they will allow european players run and play more fluently on american shards and since european servers are pretty much dead, I'd actually like to have it go live so we can xfer to more active shards and have more fun![]()
What shard is this on that you're experiencing it? Test or Siege?fyi tested regular shards, its not there yet so thats why no one knows about it.
hope they change it cause your gonna hate it if it comes to the prodo shards.
TC1 Test CenterWhat shard is this on that you're experiencing it? Test or Siege?
What dexers are doing now is intentionally getting in your way to cause the "studder step".If you are talking about client auto zig-zag you around other players it will be a buff especially to melee dexers... and I can see it will make casting even more difficult. The click and follow type templates will directly denefit from this change.
This has nothing to do with PvP but i too have had some sidesteps and moonwalks while mounted. It mostly happens when a monster hits me while im running past it or running away from a fight im not going to win.Or the OP may be experiencing what I have been since the start of the newest quest; when ever anyone stops moving around me they slide across the ground for two or three more tiles, I've noticed myself doing the moonwalk when I stop also especially when mounted. What i am experiencing is very much like walking along and bumping into a stealther. Now this would have to be in Fel cause you can walk through people in Tram. This has nothing to do with PvP but i too have had some sidesteps and moonwalks while mounted. This is what happens to you in the enhanced client when you are lagging. You don't slow down, you just stop for a moment. I don't find it any worse than slowing down in the classic client when you are lagging. What i am experiencing is very much like walking along and bumping into a stealther. So if you were walking north as well as the stealther walking north, but you were walking at a bit faster rate, you wold bump into him and stop. then he would be a step in front of you and you would move again only to bump into him again.
This happens on test when no one is in front of you in Fel on Test Center. so it basically stops you in your tracks until your client catches up.
Imagine having two or three people attacking you while your trying to get away, and then having this "studder step" happen to you. Gets me killed a lot.

My guess is that what they are doing is making the classic client movement act the same way as it does in the enhanced client. Overall you will be faster, but you do get these occasional "stutters".
What I am telling you is that TC has the new movement code, and it sounds like what they have done is made the CC movement the same as the EC movement, which many have asked for.I play the classic client only
Ummm not sure about the EC but the best I could say is log into TC1 and go to fel and test out what I am saying. What I am telling you is that TC has the new movement code, and it sounds like what they have done is made the CC movement the same as the EC movement, which many have asked for.
In the EC if you lag, you just stop. It doesn't slow you down while you are moving, but you do have these momentary "stutters". In the CC with the old movement code when you lag you actually slow down.
But the net effect with the EC movement is that you move faster, and are affected less by lag. You have to be experiencing some significant lag before you will actually experience a stutter in your movement. With the current production CC movement code it doesn't take much lag to slow you down.
