I have read the banner about a new ROC that has been trimmed down to 8 items...wondering where it is posted...All the links I have found are dead.

Note... just because I am telling you where to find it, doesn't mean I don't agree with you. I agree that it's in a bad place. Having said that... the link is in the banner. To get to it outside of the banner you have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the forums menu where you normally find the contact us/legal jargon/Terms of Service/Privacy Policy and click the Help Link. In there you'll see the ROC link.

It's all pretty cut and dry except #1. That will always be vague and open to interpretation. Not really much you could do to change it though.

You are 100% wrong. OH NO I told you you were wrong does that mean I am trolling you, according to their wording it could and I was just joking to prove that you were in fact right, LOL

So disagreeing with someone and preferring the opposite option to the one they prefer is a ROC Rule #1 voilation. We'll all be banned by the first of the year for disagreeing with other opinions unless we get very PC and preach only the OP's opinions. Swift... *laughs*

Number 1 isnt a problem if they can prove direct intent to anger or insult. Since obviously accidental intent to anger or insult doesnt apply. Personally I feel Zuckuss's comment in that thread earlier was a direct intent to anger me and I felt insulted. So was Zuckuss trolling me?

:)

Rule #1 doesn't say you aren't allowed to disagree with someone else, it just means you can't disagree with them by insulting or belittling them.

For example, let's say the OP says "I like carrots".

Response #1: "carrots are dumb and so are you". A response like this, would qualify as trolling or a personal attack because it is clearly aimed at insulting the OP, and adds pretty much nothing to the conversation.

Response #2: "I don't like carrots, I prefer apples. do you like apples too?" A response like this would not qualify as trolling because it does not insult the OP or their opinion. It contributes to the conversation by politely disagreeing with what the OP said, while also contributing a new topic to the conversation.

I hope that clears it up for everyone.

I found #1 to be more honest and genuine.

Sure does perfectly clear...rule number one is a total joke. Conservatively speaking approximately 80% of comments could qualify as trolling. Frankly I feel this post by you was a deliberate attempt to anger me...I feel insulted. Are you trolling me?

No you are expressing an opinion. One I personally think is moronic but an opinion you are entitled to. ( Notice I didnt call you a moron because that would be a personal attack, I called an opinion moronic. Obviously I cant anger or insult an opinion.

The rule would be much better if it simply read:

"NO bullying or direct insults. All Members should feel safe to express their opinions."

The only person that is responsible for how I feel is me! I own my feelings and my actions. Being provocative isnt trolling, being controversial and or contrary isnt trolling! Writing stupid rules specifically designed to allow huge grey areas is trolling...and insulting!

"Personal attacks are prohibited. Personal attacks include any content that is blatantly attacking another person on the Site. Trolling is whenever someone is clearly, deliberately posting in a manner that angers or insults the other participants of the Site. Trolling does not encourage further discussion in the long run and encourages personal attacks. Excessive trolling can constitute a personal attack."

interesting. so personal attacks are prohibited, but trolling is not (unless its excessive) I take it a standard amount of trolling is no longer againsts the rules. hooray for hungry trolls!
