The Warhammer and Camelot versions of MyUO (well web apps that draw upon in-game data) were both taken down for security reasons, and Warhammer doesn't appear to be getting their version back.

Somebody claimed on some Camelot forums that the character search features had a security flaw:
Something I touched upon in a previous post was most likely the reason for the rush of the unfinished site, a security vulnerability of which users could gain access to the php code and web dbs. I was informed of this and then I informed Mythic. They took the server down completely, and it isn't a case of just switching it on again. That site had all the pre-built goodness, such as the housing directories and other live server db related herald stuff.

It's not something their limited resources at this time can work on replacing, perhaps in the future, I know some changes for the site are planned and in motion, but the studio is pretty busy with all the new Wrath of Heroes stuff, their web guys certainly with all the account center changes to prepare for the beta.
This was on the BioWare Warhammer forums
It was taken down because of a fault in security that was being exploited. Realm War held account information and they feared it could compromised, potentially resulting in credit card theft.

Andy once said that they needed to rebuild the entire thing in order to make it secure, but knowing Mythic's lack of ressources, I doubt it'll be back before WAR shuts down completly.
The conspiracy theorists think that the Realm Wars stuff was able to be used to show Warhammer's true active number of players, but Kai says no. He also said Realm Wars wasn't coming back for Warhammer, which makes me wonder if MyUO will come back.

Given that MyUO, Realm Wars, and the Camelot character search all had similar functionality, pulling in-game data into web-based functionality, and that videogame industry collectively **** its pants back in April/May when Sony had servers with customer data hacked, they might have done an audit on the MyUO, Realm Wars, and Camelot character and housing stuff and found that there were security flaws and yanked them.

I have a feeling that the same people who would be responsible for MyUO are the same people who would be responsible for Realm Wars and the stuff for Camelot so if anything happens with the other two games, it might happen for MyUO. I'm inclined to believe that the new account management stuff broke a lot of that functionality or has made it more difficult. I also have a feeling that with better security being a part of the new system, it might be harder for websites to interact with in-game data.

^^ more PR propaganda nonsense
Warhammer and Camelot's in-game->web functions were both up and down before finally being down for a while now, with security reasons being listed as the cause, and with the Warhammer producer saying in May the internal resources are not available to bring Realm War back online anytime soon.

I would say MyUO has gone down that same blackhole that those two systems have gone down. If it's not security related, then the new account system probably mangled it. Either way, if they aren't willing to cough up the resources to fix Realm War or Camelot's housing db, they aren't willing to cough up the resources to bring MyUO back online. Argue with that all you won't, but they obviously don't care too much about MyUO or even the other two games websites.
Working on Japan site. Not working on US site. Why?
That's very easy to explain, but you all already know the answer to that - somebody actually gives a damn about the Japanese UO website and there is an actual staff behind it and not one guy juggling three different game websites. The Japanese UO website is run by completely different people than the American website, they have actual website/db developers, and it shows.

Look at the American website: Mythic Entertainment | Ultima Online | Play the 14-Day Free Trial!

Look at the Japanese website: UltimaOnline.jp

What's the difference? The Japanese website is not only actively being developed with a separate Japanese management team, but they go so far as to actually tell players about upcoming events, including putting the spotlight on in-game events. Did I say it was managed by a team and not one Mythic guy covering the Camelot, UO, and Warhammer websites? Yes I did. A team, implying multiple people who are dedicated to the Japanese UO website.

Do you know when the next EM event on your shard is? Probably not. But Japanese UO players, they not only known when the next event on their shards is, they get detailed messages before the event, and they sometimes even get after-action reports. If you looked at UOHerald.com, not only would you not know who your EMs are, you wouldn't know that they were actually alive and doing things.

Just take a look at this event on Yamamoto where you get the details about where and when to show up. If you're on LS like me, or Siege or Atlantic, you have to go look at the individual EM websites, because you damn sure won't find anything on the UO Herald website. Want to see the aftermath of events? Not on UOHerald.com, you won't, but if you're in Japan: http://ultimaonline.jp/community/event

Speaking of the UO Herald website, did you know there were Gothic and Rustic mini-booster theme packs now for sale? What's that, you don't see them advertised?

Well go to the ƒEƒ‹ƒeƒBƒ} ƒIƒ“ƒ‰ƒCƒ“™ website and wait for the header to load, you'll see images meant to alert you to the fact that these are for sale.

How about all of those in-game establishments that players have that are still active? Won't find them on UOHerald.com, but, nope, not at all, but guess what, they are right there on UltimaOnline.jp: http://ultimaonline.jp/community/Bwatch

What else does the Japanese UO website have the that American UO website doesn't?

A nice looking beginners guide: ƒvƒŒƒC‚·‚éƒVƒƒ[ƒh‚ð‘I‚Ô

A place for players to post their stories about UO: ‰‚߂ẴXƒg[ƒŠ[

Easy to find archives of the past:
ƒEƒ‹ƒeƒBƒ} ƒIƒ“ƒ‰ƒCƒ“ - ƒuƒŠƒ^ƒjƒAç–éˆê–é
BNN ƒXƒe[ƒVƒ‡ƒ“

Do you get the idea that somebody actually cares enough to put money into the UltimaOnline.jp website and to have an actual team to manage and develop that site?

And while you're stewing over that, think about the fact that UO Japan gets an actively developed site, and they make up approximately 50% of UO players, while the other 50% of UO players get UOHerald.com.

How did we end up with one guy that we have to share with two other games while the other 50% of players who are Japanese get a nicely developed and actively maintained website? It's like the Japanese site has a mixture of UOGuide and UO.Stratics.com for their website, with all of the EM websites feeding into it.

I didn't mean to rant, but you all can't seriously wonder why UO Japan's website is 100% working and patched or whatever they had to do, after you look at UO Japan's website and the UOHerald.com. 30 seconds spent at both websites tells you everything you need to know.

Kai even told the Warhammer players that upgrading the Camelot website from Drupal 6 to Drupal 7 was delaying the Warhammer redesign. Meanwhile, the UO Japan website has its own software that they appear to have developed - it's definitely not Drupal like all of the BioWare webistes, and it's not WordPress, or Joomla or anything of that nature. Even if it was Drupal, I doubt upgrading from 6 to 7 would slow them down much.

Does anybody actually know why the UO Japan website has a dedicated team behind it, while we don't? If 50% of players get a solid website that is actively updated and maintained, and the other 50% of the players get one guy that they share with Warhammer and Camelot...nothing against Kai either.

Do you think if we asked them nicely we could get the UO Japan team to spend a few moments on our MyUO site?

^^ more horsepucky, excuses and misdirection

It works on the JP site, it doesnt work on the ENG site.

I think recent events have clearly shown that the 2zillion posts that Woodsman made in the last 3 weeks were horsepucky, and this is just more of the same.

just 3? What's your take on this... I read that at one time there were 15 games in that studio (obviously not all mmo's?). Think there still is that many? or reduced to the 3 (which means people went poof?).
If it wasn't for the lag, and in another language, I'd be all over Japan. the UO FAIL would have to spread to the remainder of games here wouldn't it? In fact, if our UO was like jp's, i 'might' still be a uo pompom waver. Lack of communication to clients is a Huge no in my book. Like it's been said, they don't 'have to' so why should they? as an individual I can understand, and I appreciate them, but as a collective, they're a looong way from Borg

Obviously you didn't read my wall of words and I can't blame you, so let me make it very simple for you:

The Japanese UO website has a dedicated team who is constantly updating it and adding new content that consists of something more than "such and such server is down" or "such and such client login problems have been resolved".

The English UO website has a single guy that is shared between various games and he posted that updating the Camelot website from Drupal 6 to Drupal 7 was actually holding up the deployment of the Warhammer page.

To put it bluntly, if the person in charge of the UO website doesn't have the time or the expertise to easily update a different game's website between versions of Drupal or can't get a website developer who can, and that's holding up another website update for a completely different game, then we are not getting MyUO back anytime soon, because he is clearly not a website and database developer or doesn't have acess to any such developers.
I think recent events have clearly shown that the 2zillion posts that Woodsman made in the last 3 weeks were horsepucky, and this is just more of the same.
You talk about misdirection, but rather than actually discuss real possibilities, you want to make this about me. If we were talking about your car that wouldn't start after it stalled while you were driving around, it would be something like this:

HD2300: The car stalled while I was driving and it won't start.

Me: It might be the alternator.

HD2300: more horsepucky, excuses and misdirection

The misdirection here is that you're angry at me instead of EA for shortchanging us on our website and a lot of other things.

You're been pissed at me ever since I told you point-for-point exactly why your dreams of a classic shard were not going to happen, but you seemed to have taken that as a personal attack, when that was not my intention. It's understandable, I was very blunt in my opinion.

I apologized at the time, but since the thread was apparently deleted and you may not have seen it, I'm apologizing again if you felt that was a personal attack. I'll even publicly admit that I came around to your way of thinking on a few things in regards to a classic shard.

I've only ever seen him posting on the three Mythic MMOs websites and forums-wise have only ever seen him post on the official Warhammer forums.

Of course, UO and Camelot don't have official forums on Social.BioWare.com while Warhammer does and maybe he's only allowed to post on Social.BioWare.com forums. I did search on SWTOR.com now that you mentioned it, and he doesn't show up there in their forums.

I don't active follow many other BioWare games outside of the MMOs and Dragon Age, so maybe he is working with other games as well, it would not surprise me, but I've only seem him post or talk about the three Mythic MMOs, with a focus on Warhammer most of the time.

Any mods reading this, I'm not bashing Kai, because the problem is not him, it's EA or Mythic.
If it wasn't for the lag, and in another language, I'd be all over Japan.
Same. The Japanese UO website feels like the old UO website, not the dull website we have now.

^^ Western UO p(l)ayers dont care about 1001 excuses about why it isnt working, they just want it to work.

It works on the JP site, it doesnt on the Western site.

P(l)ayers dont care if it is snowing in Kathmandu today or not. Just get someone to do it like Japanese person who got it working on the JP site.

This we can both agree upon. And I agree with Martyna Zmuir in the other thread - turn the herald over to the Japanese team in some fashion. It's not really being used other than for patch or downtime announcements or links to a contest on Facebook. Kai could still post the system announcements, but let the Japanese team actually do something with it. I'm pretty sure they can copy and paste from the English EM websites as well.
