My Loyalty is Decaying, is Yours??

THIS SUCKS!!! Logged in yesterday right after server down/up and all 9 chars loyalty were fine. Did the EXACT same thing today and ALL 9 chars lost a level in loyalty. Be damned if I'm working all 9 back up.

I took a picture when I originally built up to venerated (my suggestion is that everyone should, at whatever loyalty stage you intend to get), and also took a picture after having lost loyalty, and another after having built it back up. There are a few reasons I did this, but hopefully according to Mesanna herself there will be a fix for this buggy decay timer soon. The reasoning behind me taking the pictures is that there's solid proof of the problem, and also in the event it happens again perhaps something can be done in order to get that loyalty back that does not include me grinding it back, when I shouldn't have to.

Yes Sauteed Onion: Pictures. Mine only show when my first two characters achieved Venerated status. It surprised me to learn how long I have been putting in hours of work on these to keep them there. Today they are both only 'adored' again. I don't have the heart to keep this up.

We have to try to see where it go wrong so the Devs can fix it.

Or, instead of compunding their bad code with yet more they could cut their losses, save face, and simply turn the decay off. It would be a no-brainer win-win for them, which means they won't do it.

I don't think turning off the decay needs to be done. I would prefer a longer time between log-ins more helpfull. 2-3 days or even a week. People who using there characters often and play often should be more rewarded then those who on log in ones a month or year to have the same loyalty and Virtue status then the others.
It needs to be done a little different not off.

Frankly, I have yet to see a logically valid reason to even have loyalty decay when so many people are against it.

Better to scrap the code than persist with making your players unhappy.

Unhappy players = failed content.

This is a game, not real life. We play UO for escapist fun, not more work. When people grind their loyalty up just to find it pointlessly frittered away because *gods forbid* they had RL to attend to, they get upset. Justifiably so. Now, compound that with the backhanded "fix" of daily logins not working for a majority of people, the frustration grows. This Dev Team seems to have an obsession with decay as a mechanic to prolong the lifetime of their new content. It is not an obsession which should be encouraged.

UO needs to be fun. Decay is not fun.

IF they turn off decay, I would be in favor of higher levels of loyalty beyond venerated status such as exalted, supreme, eminence, prolific, worshiped, so on and so forth with gifts for each level. Whats the harm, make a gold sink that goes deeper than the Stygian abyss. Endless possibilities here.

I have 4 characters I keep loyalty up on. I log each one in each day within 24 hours of the last time. I get the message about the moons. Loyalty is still decaying. I never have understood why UO finds the need to try to force me to play everyday.

I log in several times a day and most of my characters.. My two most played characters both get the "Moons have failed to preserve your virtue and loyalty" every time I log on now.

That might only be because they all logged in during the morning hours.

STEP 1:
I'll log them all in tonight to check but will do NOTHING more than log in and out with each character.
If their titles decay, then something is seriously wrong. If the alignment fails then probably it means that their alignment didn't fail in the morning so they don't need to see it align again in the same day. I will know soon as I will log them all in again tonight, except for:

STEP 2: Even if Loyalty has or hasn't decayed:
Tomorrow (except for Character 7/Acct.1) I will log all in during the morning to refresh - and once again later at night to check loyalty.

Character 7/Acct.1 - - will log in later at night tomorrow. I bet loyalty will drop to respected by the next morning.
I will also log in all the other characters at night to see if their loyalty drops and if any of them lose loyalty points then their is still something very wrong.

If it works, I expect log-in is not an 'any time during a 24 hour day' but is as Frarc said:

I think people are getting caught in the one time a day thing. It might be daily after maintance but it looks like it has to be within 24 hours of the last log in. If you do it on day 1 at 7 pm and then at day 2 at 8 pm i think you will get a decay cause it took longer then 24 hours.​

YESTERDAY I logged-in all my characters between 9:10 AM and 10:00 AM
- - and again this morning (except for character 7) at the SAME TIME between 9:10 AM and before 10:00 AM - aprox. 24 hours later.
THIS MORNING: (except for Character 7) ALL my characters' moons aligned okay and so was their loyalty status.

This morning Acct.1 character 7 was deliberately NOT LOGGED-IN but was logged in tonight after 10PM.
Moon alignment FAILED.

I logged in all my other characters again tonight after 10:00 PM. and they all aligned ok.

It is obvious to me that they all need to be logged in on the 24 hour schedule which I and others will find impossible to keep. But I will try log them in tomorrow morning somewhere between 9 AM and Noon because I think that won't let them keep their status. They have to log in exactly 24 hours from their last log in. But it needs testing further to see what happens if I log them in before noon.

Thanks Sauteed Onion. I am just finishing up the Test I was conducting on my characters and their loyalties to see what works and what doesn't work. So here is today's report.

Logged in ALL my characters this morning between 9:10 AM and 9:26 AM.
ALL Moons Aligned. All loyalty status were kept the same - -
Even Character 7's Loyalty Title was still the same, Adored. despite failure tomoon alignment notice last night at log-in, after NO morning Log-in along with all other characters - but that could be becaiuse ADORED takes longer - perhaps two days - to decay?

Results: Logging in every day at the same hour and exactly within 24 hours each time, worked.

My characters' Titles will all decay again because I can't be on-line every morning and/or night, every day.


- - back to cleaning up superfluous accounts.

Still they are not saying exactly what they are doing about Point decay (city and virtue)
Are they seriously going to have players refresh Loyalty Status by logging-in between 8 AM and 8 PM every day?

In a previously post Messanna asked what time we were logging in to experience the rapid decay.
From that I gathered we have to log in sometime between 8 AM and 8 PM.
I started checking my characters to see what makes their loyalty decay and what doesn't and reported it in this thread in numerous posts/

Loyalty Status of' Venerated' is decaying far too rapid;y .. after 24 1/2 hours of logging into the game even when you spend extra hours working on arresting prisoners after reaching that goal.
ADORED STATUS doesn't decay that fast as you get closer to being Venerated.
So, after I finished work in Scara from 5 PM to 5:49 pm just now (15 prisoners later), loyalty is back up to Venerated. I collected 15 more prisoners after gaining from Adored to Venerated status.

I'll be logging in to see if it is possible to keep VENERATED status over-night and into the next day without working on it.

Good to hear. Jade 1 - log-in 2:43 PM, a few minutes ago; Aligned ok and still Venerated.

That is good but again .. can't log in EVERY DAY so would have to work on gains during the days I can log in and that in itself means more work rather than having fun.

Alright so I just logged in today at 8:45pm to test this, its been 36 hours since I last logged in, and the moons were aligned, my loyalty and virtue have been preserved, everyone is still venerated, so I would say the fix worked for me today at least.

It would be interesting to learn that we don't have to log-in any more, or that we don't have to log in every day between 8 AM and 8 PM or what?

I logged-in all characters between 8 AM and 8 PM every day since the patch, and All aligned okay.

Also, right after the 'fix', I decided to log-in a character on Account 2 to try bring her loyalty title of Adored back up to Venerated.

I've worked many hours during the past three days on that Account 2 character and she is still Adored and was astonished to discover the following while doing so ..

There are fewer rioters to be found in Britain now.
The spawn of rioters is very slow.
So slow that - after arresting and turning in a rioter to the Captain of the guard, I am finding time on my hands which use to escort an NPC to their destination, after which, during the 5 minute wait between escorts, I hunt all over Britain City looking and waiting for the next rioter to spawn. So at least I am harvesting some gold while also working with this slow spawn of rioters.

Of course, after having just said all of that, tonight the spawn is FAST if not FASTER than ever before.

So .. the faster rioter spawns occur at prime time on Friday??

I think I figured out the "moons" message, it seems to be "since last login", so the only way to really keep it working is to log in twice a day, early and late, because if you only login once a day you have to log in slightly earlier the next day...and so on, to keep "beating" the 24 hour timer. At least that's what I gather from the few times I've played 2-3 days in a row and it was actually possible for me ot pass the check in the first place.

Ok I play Business Tycoon online, BTO and they have a log in system that works on a percentage plus you receive bonuses if you have a full 7 days. Now, what UO should do, I think, is very much the same where you log in one day, you receive a gift, you log in 2 days, you receive the same gift again and then when you get to the 7th day, it gives you a bonus but if you forget to log in it just takes a small percentage for that week. I guess if you don't log in at all, you would get nothing.

For me, I think it should be the account and not the character and I think it should work in this way, where the week is the total and the day is the percentage of what would be lost but I haven't started mine yet. I tested it at first but I was kind of waiting for a change. I think with the way it is now, I will probably do 1 character.

VENERATED title has DECAYED. So what does that tell us about the new FIX? Is it Fixed?

To see all those hours of work go down the drain again for NO PLAUSIBLE REASON is disappointing to say the least - -

- - and to think I've been spending three or more hours a day since the 'FIX' working on my second account character too, trying to get Adored Loyalty Status back to Venerated ----

RESULTS:
FIRST LOG-IN = ALIGNMENT FAILED Loyalty Status didn't change.
SECOND LOG-IN = MOONS ALIGNED OKAY Loyalty Status didn't change.

A friend of mine who doesn't post on Stratics said that after logging in daily since the fix, on Saturday all 9 of their venerated characters dropped to adored, so I count my blessings it hasn't happened to me yet.

I can't really comment on whether it actually properly keeps your loyalty or not as I haven't done the event at all but from my logins and remember when i last logged in, the "moons aligned" message is DEFINITELY based on last login, whthere it has anything to do with your loyalty status or not If you logged in within 24 hours prior to your current login you get the "success" message, though from what I can tell success doesn't necessarily mean it actually worked. At least this is how it's acting for me.

As an astute observer of the forums and history, I knew it was bound to happen, after logging in religiously twice a day I finally failed to get my moons aligned on 5 out of 9, and oddly all my characters dropped from venerated to adored including the ones that aligned their moons. Now the only change is the new patch, so makes me wonder if this bug crawled back into the game. I appreciate the NEW numerous ways to increase loyalty, but how about fixing how loyalty is preserved permanently? I'd appreciate that even more. How about you?

Have 9 characters at Adored or Venerated and since the fix, only one has dropped to Respected from Adored and I have a feeling that was my fault and I missed logging him in one day. I only log each one in once per day. Other than that one instance, it's been working great for me and I'm certainly not that careful about logging them in at a certain time, just sometime during the day.

For those who are able and want to continue with this quest .. I have had time recently to continue log-ins, and have found that by logging in anytime between 8 AM - 4 PM everyday - the Town Loyalty Status on all my characters has been saved.

There seems to be a 12 hour time period, after the server comers up, where log-ins work successfully.

EG:
Server-up here is 5 AM. 12 hours later would be 5 PM.

If I log my characters in after 5 PM,that's after the 12 hour period has passed, if I recall correctly (need to look at all my other posts in here) - the moons aligned okay but I would log-off and immediately log-in again, and then moons failed to align. So if I missed logging in during the morning or afternoon, and didn't get a chance to log in until after 9 pm, loyalty decayed. Thus I started log-ins for my characters anywhere during the day somewhere between 8 AM and 4 PM to be safe.

ps: I will let you know what happens the next time I can't log in between 8 am and 4 pm... if I manage to log in at least by or shortly after 9 pm.

I realize that participation in this type of endeavor is completely optional, and might I say among the most difficult ever created for Ultima Online. However I find it interesting that EA would deem an apology gift for a few hours of game down time, but for players who participate in game content of this nature loyally are not as worthy of a similar type of apology. This is just an observation. I realize other bugs hinder other forms of game play and enjoyment. I just think this particularly difficult endeavor might require some additional consideration and encouragement.

After he quit UO and handed this game over me, my son made this observation: "UO is the biggest TEST SHARD in the world." So when something is wrong or needs figuring out, I try my best and if I achieve anything at all, the feeling of accomplishment is reward enough. *pats self on back?*

i haven't read the entire thread, but here's my .02. I don't mind a little decay , but how come the negative loyalty from the other towns isn't decaying ?? Towns will forget that I put out fires, picked up trash and arrested rioters, but they'll never forget that I killed one once ?

THIS happened to me today too, S_S. All my characters lost Venerated again and are back to Adored Despite my getting up every day at 6 AM -

SO every morning, I've been on the computer with a morning coffee refreshing loyalty status while the pup sleeps.

For the past week the newly gained loyalty stayed at venerated on all my characters. TODAY THE MOONS FAILED TO ALIGN AND ALL MY CHARACTERS LOST A LEVEL so ARE set back to ADORED.

This is the last time I post in this thread. I am only posting as a follow-up to let everyone, including the developers/programmers know that by logging every character loyal to a city into the game EVERY MORNING of EVERY day doesn't consistantly refresh the gained loyalty status.

IT IS SUMMER here finally! RAIN all spring and all of June .. we are about to have our FIRST STRING OF DAYS FULL OF WARM AIR AND SUNSHINE. Have a great summer everyone! *waves*
