I can only say it's a sad state of affairs that I don't even consider it worth making communication with EA to even attempt to retrieve my items.

The accounts themselves were not worth keeping, just holding accounts.

when I read this earlier today went back over to UHall to the post you made there about recovering the account cause you couldn't remember your password... scrutinized it for some clue that you may have given a would-be hacker, but because my mind just won't work that way, I couldn't see anything useful

Actually that U.Hall post was about an entirely seperate issue.

(well perhaps not entirely now that I think about it, but none of the stuff from that account ever surfaced on the market afaik, so I could never put that case down to hacking).

As I said, it's just a shame EA doesn't have any systems in place to protect their customers from stuff like this.

At the end of the day it's not like I "lost" anything - I didn't play this game for profit, more some sort of twisted online ego-therapy if I could call it anything

At the end of the day selling game stuff for cash goes against my principles anyway and I hated myself for doing it, so I'm not finding it difficult to see the bright side here, but as I had written before, I really could have done with the cash irl right now financially looking less than peachy!

you can get it back file a police report then send a copy of the report to ea


also give them a call, if you paid your acct with cc, they can restore the acct, if the current payment is under your credit card. have your credit card with you when you call them they will ask you for the number.
then they will reassign the address and pass word for you you prolly lost your belongings still. but you can retrieve your acct at least sorry this happend

You can call the police if you'd like. I have been through this before.

You call the police and file a report for theft. The police then have to contact EA, via a detective and a case number. They present this to the EA staff, who then will, by law, conform with whatever the officers investigating request.

Typically all the police will be able to do for you is to obtain the IP address of the person whom has last logged into your account. If they did it from there home, you may possibly have something. If they did it from a campus or a library, you are SOL.

If you do obtain an IP that is useable, your next step is to have the police you are working with contact the police is the area of the IP address. But even then you require a search warrant to seize the other persons PC, just to check to see if they were indeed the ones who borrowed from you. Then if you do get all of those things then you must be able to prove who specifically did it, which on the internet is no easy task. It's a big long messy process, but you do have options....

I would call EA, tell them your account was hacked. They will look at who has been paying for the account and match up the cc to the most recent owner and should be able to give you the account back. Problem is the person has had enough time to start moving things out of the house
But it wouldnt hurt to try EA and see if they will give you the account back and hopefully you can recover some of the items. I'm sorry this has happened to you.
Its quite pathetic EA doesnt have more security in place to protect their paying customers from having their accounts stolen like this. They really need to work on their customer service all the way around

The person had moved the stuff out of the house by around 8am this morning, when I logged in and found I was no longer the house owner - the house had been made private but I was already inside so I saw the contents, and the boxes of rares had been removed.

I am very sorry to say but there is 0.00000000000000000000000001% possibility of you getting it back. The person who did it is not going to be an amateur and they are not going to make any amateurish mistakes. Your collection will likely be sold to a "broker" with no scruples.. and few months down the road, I will be adding it to the duped list. I should just save myself the trouble and add it now!

It's a sad way to end things. This is one of the reasons why I have been spending my wealth and collection to sponsor ingame events.. instead of handing it over to a scammer on a silver platter.

that really was one hell of a collection when i saw it in its prime at the house near umbra, then a while back hemis house that held the rares was decaying but he saved the house from collapsing, thats the last i saw of those rares

Honestly, it would be astonishing if the items stayed on Europa one way or another, as on Europa, the chance of someone going "Waiiiit, I know that item!" is much higher than on other shards, especially because some people aren't bright enough to think that an item from Hemisphere/Europa miiiight just be the same as from person xyz on another shard, who just by the way happens to sell it right after something like this... either that or they simply don't know Hemisphere and his collection, because they don't play on Europa and don't read forums.

Plus I think everyone knows a trick or two the dupers used when the massive duping was going on, and also from other threads where dupes are mentioned.
