Good morning Flag...Much has indeed changed in the ways of taming,, its a lot of fun trying out the new combos and finding those which few have tried... just wanted to welcome you to the new taming system and give ya a few tips... If you do decide to go the hiryu route make sure you start with a lesser hiryu instead of a greater one... The reason behind this is.. in the new taming system the control slots are used to determine the amount of points one can invest in a pet in the new system... When you start the system you will get a red bar.. by fighting monster this bar fills form 0 to 100%.. once at 100% you are awarded 1500 points into invest in increases the pets, stats, skills caps, regens, add special moves etc... well once they are all invested they moves up a slot to if it was 1 slot it becomes 2... ya pretty much repeat this until the pet is 5 slot then its maxed and done in the new system... so greater hiryu is 3 slot.. so will only get 3k points to train with... while a lesser hiryu will start as a 1 slot.. and will get 6k points to add.. making for a much stronger end pet... also .. a quick word of advice on the hiryus and cus... when the time comes and you are ready to add special moves to them .. bare in mind you must use a certain order on each pet to fix the max number of moves on it... like with hiryus( lesser or normal).. because they come with 2 moves preloaded... You can only add one special move or any extra move, then a school of magic like magery, bush, ninja, chiv etc.... you must add the one move before the school of magic or ya lose the option to do so as thegame counts the school as part of the 3 more limit.... ok now with cu's... they are similar... it doesn't count their healing skill as part of the 3 move limit.. so in fact they only come loaded with 1 move which is bleed.... so with cu's you can add 2 extra moves then a school of magic so long as ya use this order... aoe moves(, special move, or magical move) , special move (or magical move bare in mind magical move is not the same as school of magic), School of magic( chiv, spell weaving, etc).. aside from this there is only one major thing most mess up on when entering the pet taming system... and that's resistances...,meaning like phy, fire, cold, poison, energy ..each of these can be increaseto 80.. where most mes up is they don't know there is a cap of 365 total a pet can have so they will just go down the line leaving energy or some other RS at 45 .... there are many different play styles for non cu pets most tend to favor 80 80 45 80 80... and as cus come pre loaded ya normally will see them with 80 80,(varies on spawn 70-80) cold is always higher poison rs is normally left int he 40-60 range on these pets, then 77-80 enery.. no matter what path ya take so long as the pet has 80 phy and 80 fire rs ( as most things in the game use these type over all over rs) then any mix will normally fair decently... I know there is a lot to take in.. and so much more to still cover... which is why I will list one more thing that ruined many pets when the system first hit to help ya avoid that fate then let ya take the rest in.. Before pub 97 int use to be linked to mana pool.. this is not the case anymore.... if ya want to increase your pets mana pool and over all sustained damage you must use the option under stats then mana( in other words don't increase the stats INT in hopes on making the mana pool bigger)... .ok mate.. I believe Ive jabbered on enough for now... hope this helps... if ya have any question about the new system feel free to message or post here and all the fine tamers that like hang here will be more then happy to help ya out.. until then.. enjoy the new system and welcome back. =^-^=
