Max/good stats for various wild tameables

Last I really tried the life of tamer was in 2003 or something. Back then, I was all about getting as great frenzied ostards as possible! Suppose Ostards will make way for Hiryus and Cus now, but it appears my affection for ones with exceptional stats has remained..

Wondering if there is a recourse that displays max stats of various (wild) tameables? Is Stratics' Hunters Guide up to date in this regard? Is there an up-to-date tamer community site or online resource out there besides stuff on player wiki of uo.com and Stratics? Iirc there were couple of very established taming-themed sites not too long back..

What sort of a Hiryu and Cu Sidhe would people consider an exceptional top 5%'er?

P.S The Ostard fan-site I used as a bible back then seems to be up still!!:D Holy sith that's an ancient website. oO

Most important is that HP and STR is near max... beacause they take most training points. So if HP or STR is poor (Even if other stat is good) you should not tame it

Aye indeed. I hear/bet resists are very important too? Suppose one would be wise to work some sort of a pattern for optimal intersection that isn't some ridiculously low 0.000001% change to encounter.

Oddly, the min/max angle for 'best stats' has changed subtly.

When I look for a great Cu now (for example) I look for Max HP / STR as mentioned above due to cost to increase but now also MIN Cold & Energy resist so I can get Phys, Fire and Poison at/near 80.

This is partly because I like the Cu as an all round pet and you can make them pretty effective as a go anywhere / do anything companion.

There are still a few pets with overcapped stats too that can help avoid a costly investment in powerscrolls.

Have fun though, still plenty of reasons to find that perfect pet :)

Resist are important too but I keep watch only for STR and HP so it does not become that ridicilous. 0.00000000000001% :D

I have kept as as rule: No pet under 5% from max str . No pet under 5% from hp. So it about 1/400.
..If you find that too hard take: No pet under 10% from max str . No pet under 10% from hp it is about 1/100.

Good morning Flag...Much has indeed changed in the ways of taming,, its a lot of fun trying out the new combos and finding those which few have tried... just wanted to welcome you to the new taming system and give ya a few tips... If you do decide to go the hiryu route make sure you start with a lesser hiryu instead of a greater one... The reason behind this is.. in the new taming system the control slots are used to determine the amount of points one can invest in a pet in the new system... When you start the system you will get a red bar.. by fighting monster this bar fills form 0 to 100%.. once at 100% you are awarded 1500 points into invest in increases the pets, stats, skills caps, regens, add special moves etc... well once they are all invested they moves up a slot to if it was 1 slot it becomes 2... ya pretty much repeat this until the pet is 5 slot then its maxed and done in the new system... so greater hiryu is 3 slot.. so will only get 3k points to train with... while a lesser hiryu will start as a 1 slot.. and will get 6k points to add.. making for a much stronger end pet... also .. a quick word of advice on the hiryus and cus... when the time comes and you are ready to add special moves to them .. bare in mind you must use a certain order on each pet to fix the max number of moves on it... like with hiryus( lesser or normal).. because they come with 2 moves preloaded... You can only add one special move or any extra move, then a school of magic like magery, bush, ninja, chiv etc.... you must add the one move before the school of magic or ya lose the option to do so as thegame counts the school as part of the 3 more limit.... ok now with cu's... they are similar... it doesn't count their healing skill as part of the 3 move limit.. so in fact they only come loaded with 1 move which is bleed.... so with cu's you can add 2 extra moves then a school of magic so long as ya use this order... aoe moves(, special move, or magical move) , special move (or magical move bare in mind magical move is not the same as school of magic), School of magic( chiv, spell weaving, etc).. aside from this there is only one major thing most mess up on when entering the pet taming system... and that's resistances...,meaning like phy, fire, cold, poison, energy ..each of these can be increaseto 80.. where most mes up is they don't know there is a cap of 365 total a pet can have so they will just go down the line leaving energy or some other RS at 45 .... there are many different play styles for non cu pets most tend to favor 80 80 45 80 80... and as cus come pre loaded ya normally will see them with 80 80,(varies on spawn 70-80) cold is always higher poison rs is normally left int he 40-60 range on these pets, then 77-80 enery.. no matter what path ya take so long as the pet has 80 phy and 80 fire rs ( as most things in the game use these type over all over rs) then any mix will normally fair decently... I know there is a lot to take in.. and so much more to still cover... which is why I will list one more thing that ruined many pets when the system first hit to help ya avoid that fate then let ya take the rest in.. Before pub 97 int use to be linked to mana pool.. this is not the case anymore.... if ya want to increase your pets mana pool and over all sustained damage you must use the option under stats then mana( in other words don't increase the stats INT in hopes on making the mana pool bigger)... .ok mate.. I believe Ive jabbered on enough for now... hope this helps... if ya have any question about the new system feel free to message or post here and all the fine tamers that like hang here will be more then happy to help ya out.. until then.. enjoy the new system and welcome back. =^-^=

Thank you very much Donovan! Good deal in what you explained was unknown to me. I appreciate you going over the most common tamer mistakes! This might help me dodge quite a few:)

You need to see what is in your stable from the past. Things changed with pet slots between pub 97 and 98. You legacy Cus may be four slot again. You will need to release them and tame them again and they will go to 3 slots.

Also your old Nightmares are better than the wild ones now.

Let someone who knows about the changes look at your stable.

^ - Thanks for that underlining Uuno. I might have just as easily derped around those without it getting mentioned. Thanks once more to everyone providing such useful Info. And to Reggie for so much invaluable on-demand on the spot aid with million different things:)

The bird finished it's first training cycle and went to 2 slots.
I applied the resists and went with 55 cold&70 poison, rest capped. Then I bought Armor Ignore and Bushido. After that, began buying some mana, mr and hr. Spill over points got put to HP I think. How did I do? What would you do come next round? Idea is to have a very tanky single target DPS animal.

Two more thing to remember: (That I have forgotten at least one time and ruined my pet)
1) Don't forget to train base damage to max :)
2) Save points to powerscrolls at last training
