Magincia rebuild prep

Just to let you know that my new year's resolution this year was to be considerate and understanding during the Magincia rebuild. When I find out that the devs have forgotten their pledge to make blue crystalized essence worth saving, using up 300 items of storage space. I won't complain, I won't, I won't.

Devs: "what's blue crystalized essence?"

Devs: "What is this Magincia you speak of?"

:)

I too have a bunch of blue crystalized essence awaiting usage....

I thought that only had something to do w/ a gypsy back in 2009, but proved to be too difficult for most players and so that project was abandoned?

You kept 300? Damn. I blame the devs for not giving you something better to hoard ;P ... I wonder if anyone has hoarded over 100 katanas from current live arc.

Was Magincia the town with the gulitine? I have no idea what just made me remember this (Well, aside of course from recalling Mag as the city it took place in), but... I swear I remember some crazy seer lead wrestling match there way back in the day that was Hulk Hogan fighting, I think Lord Blackthorne!

Ugh... I think my memory is a bit off. For some reason I'm thinking it wasn't Mag now, I'm thinking Brit now... I just can't seem to remember much about it, of course this happened either in beta or very early on in the games history. Really, I'm only even posting my vauge memories as someone here might get a kick out of a silly event during those early days. Hell, I'm not even 100% sure I attended, although I'm pretty sure I did. I'm inclined to think I was as screenshots were notoriously rare at that time and I don't think I came across any of that event till many years later.

(Which reminds me, I have a harddrive of a computer I used from 2000 to 2002 or so that I had transfered my screenshot collection of two previous computers too and have two or three shots of one of UO's most well known events that I think some people here might be interested in. There of British being killed by aquaman during beta. I think only a few fellow guildies back then and just a select few people since then have I even showed them too. Therefore, I think it's safe to say they have never been posted on the web before and if someone would fill me in on how to retrieve files from a harddrive (That's currently sitting in a shoebox under my computer desk), I'd be happy to post those for anyone interested to gander at. There's hundreds of shots in fact from 97 to sometime around 99 or 2000 when I tired of taking screenies. Lot's of neat stuff.)

You do realize it makes zero sense at all to use an item from a Halloween quest from '09 (was used to cure people) to rebuild a city? Sorry, I must be missing something here... but if I'm not that's probably why they haven't been reused.
It may seem to make zero sense, but that is what was promised at the time. I personally saved more than 80 of them, instead of trading in 50 for another luck robe. If they're not going to use them for rebuilding Magincia, they ought to at least let people turn them in again since we've been holding them for so long based on the word of the Devs.

If that is not an option, perhaps they could make the blue essence an optional item in the rebuilding - one that gives a bonus for those who bothered to save it. But not absolutely necessary.

I can't remember the exact function of the blue crystals being used as a 'cure', however, the use of an item with curative, restorative, regenerative properties could theoretically be used to rebuild (cure/restore/regenerate) Magincia.

I have a few blue crystals left, but I didn't hoarde them. I may use a couple to help, but I doubt it'd be enough for any 'reward' as I would assume those would require probably around 10-20, at the fewest. If there are rewards for turning them in, then I'd prefer that there be other means to obtain those rewards, though I'd be fine if the blue crystals did greatly reduce the cost. That would allow the hoarders to have held value from their hoarde yet still be obtainable by others.

I haven't played a whole lot lately, so I'm not familiar with the current arc(s). I am interested in how the restoration of Magincia will work.

On Great Lakes, the EMs have filled in a lot more than this but I think these are the cross-shard essentials.

NOT in chronological order.

The Demon Lord named Virtuebane (who is a riff off of a character from Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar, does not wish us to rebuild Magincia. (The implication is that he was behind the original destruction of Magincia years back, and that the Shadowlords' initial attempt to use that attack to enter our world was in essence them piggy-backing on him, but I may be wrong on that. At the time it didn't matter, as the Shadowlords found a way in anyway.) Demonic magics have stalled rebuilding there.

Virtuebane has recruited humans known as the Bane Chosen, who at first appeared to be a vaguely evil human supremacist group and have since emerged as full-fledged evil demon worshipers. Virtuebane and the Bane Chosen have occupied Magincia Island. They have also been launching attacks on the cities. In an attempt to trick and divide us, his forces won't aggro on you unless you have fought them previously (thus earning a negative loyalty rating with them).

Dawn wishes to use the Crystal of Duplicity, used by Nystul to make Trammel, to break the demonic curse in Magincia so that rebuilding can take place. She brought the Crystal out of Lord British's vault, but Virtuebane's forces some months back attacked Britain to try to take it. They appear to have failed but the Crystal vanished anyway.

Virtuebane has entered our world (where the Magincia Moongate used to be, there's an evil altar and a Black Moongate), and on Great Lakes at least has been seen in-game, and one can imagine will be seen on the other shards in the near-future.

I hope I hit all the cross-shard essentials. Now join the fight by fighting Virtuebane's forces they next time they occupy a city (the town cryers will tell you).

This way, even if the actual rebuilding part of the scenario sucks (or at least is not to your liking even if it doesn't suck in objective terms), you can at least have some fun fights along the way.

LOL

I've been back for about 2 weeks and didn't realize there was an active arc. Thanks for the update Galen.

I hadn't really paid much attention. I'll check this content out tonight.
