I dont know if these have been covered elsewhere........

1. There should be a way to keep the tickets from being sold to people from off shard. I have noticed people who only come to Origin for events buying tickets, which, if they win, is going to lead to those houses being empty, if one gets placed at all. Which, on larger shards, this could more of an issue than it will be on Origin.

2. Because of reasons stated above, I think the time to place should be half of what it is now. If someone is serious about placing I would think they would do it a lot sooner than 30 days.

3. Is it possible to win more than one plot? I would think depending on the amount of tickets you buy would effect this, but havent seen it covered anywhere. Just wondering if there is something in place that allows you to only win one or more.

I had other questions, but cannot think of them right now.
If someone has seen an answer to number 3 somewhere, can you please post a link to the thread?

I shouted about this so many times.

You are going to have every character on every shard buying tickets for every plot. Hell, I know I am. 10K? I'll sell crap form the bank floor and make that and make sure I get 5 lotto tickets on all the major shards just in case I win. Cause then, I can sell that plot on ATL or GL for like 400M and transfer it to my home shard. I got nothing to lose.

There needs to be a restriction on how many of the 10K plots you can buy tickets for based on your account. Otherwise, you're going to see that almost all the plots are won by out-of-shard characters and mega rich gold sellers who will then just be auctioning them off. So, really, only the richest players will own those plots.....effectively making the "lotto" pointless.

Would say why not to more then one on the southern plots but only one per account for northern. Real question is will the deeds be shard locked for use.

J

They'll obviously be shard locked. That's not the problem.

I would just limit the northern plots to 10 per account.

Northern plots are already limited to one per account... they're nice plots and all, but I dont think they are as good as some of the southern ones.

Hence, why I said in another thread, this can be a serious gold sink on larger shards.... as of today on Origin, I have spent 20mil on tickets for the 3 plots im interested in and I'm only competeing against maybe 20 ppl (might be wrong about that, but still)

Hi there,

is it stated somewhere that you can only win one northern plot per account but you can win many southern plots?

I havent seen anything stating how many plots you can win period. Just how many times you can enter.

STEALTHING .... behind U
I THINK U WILL FIND MOST PEEPS WILL BUY TICKETS ON EVERY SHARD [END]

The smaller empty shards may escape as the plot value will basically be the placement value and nothing else to gain.

origin is one of the smaller empty shards so im surprised anyone offshard would be buying tickets on origin seeing ass how low real estate goes for there, same with lake austin, ill probably end up buying tickets on my home shard of chesapeake and atlantic since housing sells for a ton there

I guess I would ask you to define, "off shard."

I mean really, if someone is paying for an account, then they have as much right to try to own a house on the shard of their choice as anyone.

I think it would make sense if you could only enter the lotto on one shard per account. You already can only have a house on one shard per account, so i think this makes sense. Bottom line is there is going to be a huge number of people entering on every shard with the intent on reselling if they win. I would like to see these spaces go to people active on the shard and not become some wealthy-only location.

to me thats off shard... they dont play the shard, they have no intentions of playing the shard, unless theres something in it for them at an event.

You're talking about the test shard, right? Tickets haven't gone on sale on regular shards, right?
I'm talking about Origin........ as it said......... not test center, but not live on all shards yet. Everything comes to Origin before it goes live for everyone else.

Someone already has a thread going to swap winning plots on other shards if they get any..

Got to love UO...

And yes if you win a plot what ever house you have should be condemed..no ifs or buts about it..

And any word on if free accounts can buy or not?
Dev responce lately been like a ghost town for answers..dead!..

I dont think your house(s) should be auto condemned if you win a plot. I would be a lil pissed off if I win a plot on my luna house account and it condemned my Luna house or on my castle account for that matter.

I have a house outside Umbra that is getting dropped if I win a plot at all... so no, please dont make it auto condemn my other houses =/

Just shorten the timer on the deed to place a house in Mag. or leave it alone.

Still waiting to hear how many plots can be won on a single account.

First - See this for what it is - a huge HUGE gold sink. People buying up hundreds of tickets for the new bling. If people sell junk on other shards to get money to toss into the pot - still a gold sink.

Second - Does anyone REALLY believe these plots are going to be worth anything more than a house in the Tokuno city? I mean, the layout is no luna. New Magencia is no Luna. Its spread out like haven. The plots are all over the place and it is a crappy area to have 'malls'.

If I get a ticket I'll sell to some sucker as quickly as possible.

This is no luna. No need for you all to get your panties in a bunch.

The Epic FAIL of this event is the fact the timer is like 5 days to buy tickets.

It is spring break for alot of folks myself included. I'm out of town all week enjoying fun in the sun.

Why would you NOT allow at least a few weeks for people to buy tickets?

Oh, thats right - UO caters to those with no life - I forgot.

Carry on....

I think the Tokuno city is much more aesthetically pleasing than Luna. More color, character, and the houses aren't all jammed up against one another.

I bet Luna would smell bad if there were smells in UO -like the mens room in in a walmart.

It's not much of a gold sink if I spend 15-20 minutes buying and selling bottles to NPCs. I'm creating new gold to feed into the system. That's not a gold sink, since the gold didn't exist before I specifically set out to generate it for the tickets.

Will they be worth more than 10k? 100k? 1 million? I joked about hundreds of millions, but even 50 million would make people go out and drop 100k or so on 10 of the northern plots just for the heck of it.

Physically it is not Luna, but that doesn't mean it won't have plenty of vendors and garish housing.

Luna is what it is for 2 reasons:

1 - The city is compact in to basically one screen - you can get to bank, smith, tailor, mage shop, in etc all on one screen. No other town has this.

2 - The housing is in a single ring around said city with easy access in a single circle you can hit a bunch of houses (now vendor shops) with a single path.

No other city has #1 and the only other city is Zento but it is like 5 times as spread out.

If they would have compacted Zento like Luna - it would be another luna.

Magencia is neither of these. I don't see these houses being any more valuable than a house outside minoc or vesper etc. There is no clear 'path' around the houses and the city is an ugly mess.

Its ok - bookmark this post. Wait 6 months. Then come here and tell me I was right.

I appologized if this has been answered before:
Does this lotto system work the same way as winning plot in SA dungon, which raise the odd as time passes and on the 7th day the odds is almost 100% that someone will win on that day?
Thanks.

No, its a lotto not a turn in.

Sell tickets.

On set day draw winner from total bucket of tickets.

Lotto over.

Never played Mega Millions eh?

I would like to know, for certain, before I sink any more gold into the deal.

I personally have not seen anything saying you can win multiple plots... unfortunately, searching thru Stratics can be quite the pain. But I guess when the Origin lotto finishes tomorrow evening, I'll know =/

We need a clear answer from Cal, Mesanna or whoever deals with these things. I don't want to pay for chances on more than one shard, if I can only win once.

Also, if we can only win once, period, they need to make it to where we can't even buy tickets on other shards.

I bought chances on the test shard. Once the lottery was supposedly over, it still let me buy more tickets. The ability to buy tickets when it is too late to win should not be possible. Being able to buy tickets if you cannot win, because you won elsewhere, should not be possible either.

Devs, please give us some clear answers concerning this.

WTF. OMG. It's not like they posted "MAGINCIA PLOT GUIDELINES" on the UO Herald or anything. And it's not like they specifically state in the guidlines that "One player may win multiple plots".

And, frankly, when you're that far out of the loop, you have no reason view answers by other players with such skepticism and then get all hysterical over not receiving an answer from the devs.

I can't think of a way to make sure someone is from that shard before betting... Character needing to be 30 days old to buy a ticket would have helped for new accounts.. But I've had characters on all shards for years for holiday trading. No way to tell me apart from someone who plays that shard. :(

Simple. You just limit each account to buying the 10K tickets on one shard....the first one they buy a ticket for becomes that shard.

Problem solved.

haha! Settle down there, dude. :p

I did download and read the guidelines days ago. I did not remember reading the specific information I was asking for. I am going to read it again now, but I wanted to take a moment to thank you for posting the link. I hope it didn't cause you too much distress.

Magincia will have been successful if you have a lot of active players in a smaller space than we have now.

The chance of a player winning multiple plots is based on the random number generator. I think the chances are quite high since our RNG is pretty much like:
